The St. Louis Blues have made multiple moves, including a few surprising names that fans
did not expect to see on the move just yet.
But not only that, we have multiple other updates from head coach Jim Montgomery on
some injury updates, as well as some players that will be sticking around longer than some
have expected.
We're going to break down everything you need to know on the Blues, some roster moves,
some players put on waivers, and much more in this episode of Blues Digest.
But guys, before we dive into all the new updates, all of the news for today, a quick
reminder to hit that subscribe button.
About 60% of you guys who watch these videos on the regular are not subscribed to the channel,
which means you're missing all of these updates and everything you need to know going on with
the St. Louis Blues.
But Mark, let's get into the first order of business today, which is the Blues made some
moves.
They made their first round of cuts.
Now, league wide, the first round of cuts were coming yesterday.
Now the Blues have officially made their first couple rounds, a couple of players on waivers
and a couple of players sent down.
Most notably, like if you look at all of these names here, all of these are pretty expected
except for one guy this early, and it's Justin Carbono.
So ladies and gentlemen, Justin Carbono has officially been cut from the main squad.
He is going down to the AHL.
He will start with the Springfield Thunderbirds.
It is a little surprising, I guess not shocking, Pi, in terms of, you know, he was going to
have to fight through a lot to make this team.
He's, you know, with his skill set would probably have to play in the top six.
But ultimately, he's sent down along with a few others, including Will Cranley.
And you know, it's it's pretty surprising to me that he's got cut this early.
And I think with Justin Carbono and the way this team is constructed, they've added a
lot of audience this year.
We know they went out, they made trades, young guys are making the push, Dvorsky did it.
So I think with Justin Carbono and probably the way Jim Montgomery is looking at this
is, hey, Steve Ott's going to have this guy for probably a decent portion of the year.
Maybe he makes a jump, maybe dominates.
We'll be right back up into this lineup.
But I think the biggest thing is now looking at the current group going down.
This gives them more time to work with Steve Ott to implement it into a system that mirrors
what we're seeing in St. Louis.
That's exactly why players like Lindstein have spoke about how easy it is to jump from
the AHL into the NHL because everything's on the exact same page.
But I think with Justin Carbono and as much as we want the bull in the China shop running
rampant in St. Louis, I think it makes the most sense.
A young guy that just went pro last year, three games under his belt where we see no
points in the playoffs.
But Darius, of course, I think it's almost a guaranteed at this point.
I don't know if you feel any difference.
Yeah, I think that, you know, him going down to the AHL is going to continue to work on
his game. A couple of other names I'm not really surprised on again.
And, you know, being this early in camp, when I say early, I mean, there's still a couple
of days left. I thought he was going to stay till the end, almost like last year.
Right. So it's going to be interesting to see how that progresses.
But guys, we're in the middle of training camp.
We are just days away from the start of the regular season, which means another year of
blues hockey is here.
And that means we are a one year older.
And one of the strangest things about getting older is that your recovery, your stamina,
your focus is just not what it used to be.
And it's a gradual decline that is so subtle that you don't necessarily notice it until
it is too late.
And that is exactly where Mars men comes into play.
Mars men is made with a clinically dosed ingredients, including vitamin D, boron, zinc
and a few others.
And it is designed to naturally help to boost testosterone as well as energy, focus,
mental clarity and recovery.
And personally, that is the biggest thing for myself.
Using this product is the recovery aspect.
I play in a lot of men's leagues.
I play a lot of sports.
I play just exercise in general.
And recovery is not what it used to be.
And Mars men makes it so much easier.
It's genuinely a great product.
And if you don't absolutely love it, they're also backed by a 90 day money back
guarantee.
But again, personally, I love the fact that it is not just a temporary boost as if you're
having a cup of coffee or anything like that.
This generally works and it genuinely helps as well.

Louis Blues.
But Mark, again, some interesting moves here.
This is official as of today, but there's some other updates to get to as well.
And I'll throw it back to you.
You know, head coach Jim Montgomery has spoke about a couple of players in particular.
You know, Broberg's really stood out as of late.
And we have some injury updates as well.
I think the first one to touch on is the fact that, of course, we've seen Tyler Tucker's
dealing with an injury.
Jim Montgomery spoke today.
And when asked his thoughts about Tucker, how long he's going to be out, Jim had a
very interesting quote where we're very fortunate to have a lot of options.
Do you want to keep someone that has experience in the NHL to get them to see what the life
is like, or do you want a veteran like Callie Rosen around?
And I think it's interesting when looking at this because I feel like we know what the
guaranteed top six is going to be.
It's going to be pretty much mirroring what we've seen last year.
There's another update on one period in particular that has been exceptional is the
warrant that came from Jim Montgomery.
But I think it's interesting now where you're looking at some choices as the seventh
guy, I mean, Callie Rosen, someone that's been around this organization for
quite some time with the second stint coming back.
This is a guy that has NHL experience, almost 100 games within the NHL, a boatload of
time in the AHL on top of it.
But he also did speak on another young guy in Adam Jurczyk and Darius.
I know we both feel the similar beliefs of, hey, if you're an AHL, if you're a young
guy, it's better to go down to the AHL or juniors.
But Adam Jurczyk is going to be AHL and get that top line minutes instead of being a guy
that's sitting in the press box watching these games.
Of course, that gives you the feeling of, hey, I want to be out there.
But I think with him and like we see Jim say as well, it's a guy that's a learning
curve for him. He's making the game easy.
He doesn't have to hit a homerun every time he's at the plate.
They want him to break out and do his abilities.
I don't know if you feel there's a difference on the situation, but it feels like
Callie Rosen is almost a perfect option as that's 70.
Just so Adam Jurczyk can completely tear apart with Springfield, Devon and
As much as I want to see Adam Jurczyk in the NHL and flourish, he will at some point.
But Jim Montgomery is correct, right?
You do want a guy like Callie Rosen in that spot because he has NHL experience.
And is he the most, you know, is he the best defenseman?
No, he's like going to be a seventh guy, third pairing guy, something like that.
And that's fine, right? That's what he can offer this team.
And you're going to need depth as the season goes on.
Obviously, the injury to Tyler Tucker changes things, too.
When he's back, that's going to be a bit of a different story.
But on Adam Jurczyk, the best thing for him and his development is to play, period,
flat out, and he's not going to play with this group, right?
It's pretty deep, actually.
And they've added a few players
just to shore up their experience, just to shore up their defense.
So to me, Adam Jurczyk, having him in the NHL doesn't make sense
if he's not going to play every single game.
What does make sense is him playing big minutes,
getting experience at the pro level with the Springfield Thunderbirds
and playing as many games as he can.
Now, doesn't mean we won't see him this year.
We could absolutely see him this year if there are some injuries, right?
And Brandon Carlo has dealt with some injury troubles the last couple of years.
So that's something that we could see down the road.
And don't don't rush him, right?
I'm very excited to watch him play, too.
A lot of upside there.
But don't rush him.
Take his development very seriously because he can be a stud,
I think, top four defenseman for this team in the future.
And I think that's the biggest thing is this is a team that's oozing
with so much potential of the young guys currently on the roster,
guys that are still overseas.
This is the team that is truly one of the deepest we've seen
in the history of the Blues and one of the deepest in the NHL.
But Darius diving into more even exciting updates around this team.
Jim Montgomery spoke on the biggest standout surprises coming from camp.
And this was the quote.
Broberg has been the most dominant.
Joel Hofer would be the second in dominance area, which is great
because you want your top players to be your best.
There's also a pleasant surprise.
The D pairing of Cam Fowler and Carlo has been exceptional.
What is your thoughts on these guys taking the next step?
Of course, the linting has been a big surprise, looking like
a second pairing defenseman playing next to Colton Braco,
who he looks up to and both are sponges from what he said.
But seeing that Philip Broberg, who was just gifted a big extension
with Joel Hofer looking at taking over that starting crease,
I just love to see that these guys are building off the end of season
they had last year with the new guy and Carlo and guys that are going to show
their worth within this organization at being top players.
There's nothing really other than positives to take out of this, right?
Because your starting goaltender, who's Joel Hofer at this point,
looks really good.
That's perfect.
Needs to be your best player, because if you look at last season
when you didn't get the greatest goal,
like there was times that they had to rely on their goaltending, right?
And you didn't get the greatest goaltending.
So you need really a good goaltending.
So that is a positive.
Broberg is their best defenseman at this point.
He needs to be their best defenseman.
So that's obviously a huge positive as well.
The only thing for me on that defense
pairing the third pairing there with Carlo and Fowler,
yes, they look good.
They're in a sheltered role. That's fantastic.
But if they're looking really good and exceptional
and I don't want to take away from others,
what are the other pairings look like?
Are they not, you know, kind of meshing together as a chemistry?
Not quite there.
It's a good thing that your third pairing is good,
but they're going to be in a sheltered role, right?
So and I think that could be really good for Fowler as well
heading into this season, because when he came over,
it was like he was shot out of a cannon.
And then last season, not the greatest.
It was kind of moved around, right?
So we'll see how this all progresses.
But this is all good news for the Blues as we head towards,
you know, the last couple of days here.
One of us, you know, a couple last preseason games
before season starts next week.
And I think that's the biggest thing.
But Ben, let us know your thoughts down in the comments.
What kind of lines do you want to see roll out for game one?
Do we almost feel like it's confident this point that Joel Hofer
has the starting spot at this point?
Because Jim Montgomery spoke very highly of not only him,
but Philip Broberg, this team, Lindstein.
There's so much positivity going around.
What is your thoughts on the update coming from Tucker as well?
Who do you think takes that seventh spot?
Let us know your thoughts down in the comments,
because we love reading through each and every one of them.
I've been your host, Mark, with my co-host Darius, and take care, Blues fans.
