The St. Louis Blues give a shocking injury update on one player heading into the regular season,
which opened up a golden opportunity for a young prospect making the push. We're going to dive into
everything from Alex Steen's recent moves, a huge update on an injury, and exactly why Steen made a
recent waiver wire pickup, as we're going to dive into everything you need to know as the St. Louis
Blues set the roster heading into game one, including this injury update, why they made a
waiver move, and one young prospect making a giant leap in this organization, plus so much more
in this episode. But before we get into it, I'm going to give a huge shout out to absolutely
everyone watching. We are part of almost 60% watching this right now, and you haven't hit that
free subscribe button, but you want to stay up to date on everything around the Blues. Make sure to
and we'll keep you updated daily on everything you love about the Blues. Now diving into this,
I wanted to look at multiple updates. The first one is a new update coming through on Logan Mayu
after the defenseman left the final preseason game with an upper body injury, and it went
straight into an update coming from Alex Steen and the organization today that Logan Mayu had
surgery on his right hand and will be re-evaluated in eight weeks. Tyler Tucker lower body injury is
considered week to week and is getting a second opinion on his knee. Now the biggest issue with
this update is of course Logan Mayu who is set to start on the Blues top pairing to enter the season
is now out eight weeks to be re-evaluated, and from there the defenseman is going to continue pushing
to get back in the lineup. Now of course looking at the Blues depth chart, and I can't believe we're
dealing with injuries already, Logan Mayu and missing this is now going to shake up quite a bit
on the back end especially with Jim Montgomery having his defenseman set and liking what he's
been running. Now of course a move has been made within this organization to fill in the void on
the back end, but looking at this now we know that Theo Lindstein and Colton Pariko was a fan favorite
and of course Jim Montgomery favorite pairing. When we've seen both getting the camp and Theo
Lindstein cement themselves straight into the lineup, Kent Fowler and Brandon Carlo the newly acquired
were looking exceptional next to each other on the third pairing, but now a shake up already on the
back end where moving pieces is going to happen to fill in that top right-handed spot. Is that going
to be Colton Pariko? Do you break up? What is working with a young defenseman that of course is not
going to be in a fully sheltered role but you want with a shutdown guy? Are you breaking up that
third pairing because now with Logan Mayu out you have a lot of questions to answer especially a guy
that really picked it up. In the second half of its first season with the St. Louis Blues 13 points
in 67 games doesn't tell the full story but Logan Mayu started to pick it up after demotion into
the AHL and making the team out of camp. Logan Mayu was a physical defenseman and feeling that
is going to be very interesting as Jim Montgomery has just days to figure out and shake up a blue
line completely. Now of course with Tyler Tucker being out week to week they needed to fill the
void on the back end. We've seen the waiver claim yesterday with Justin Barron being picked up
by the St. Louis Blues from the National Predators which led to a lot of people speculating on Logan
Mayu's injury being worse than expected which was confirmed today but Alex Dean spoke. Our scouts
have liked this game when he watched him play. This is a fresh start for him. We brought Adam
Juracek up and we felt the organization we had on our left side this helps create depth on our right.
Now of course Adam Juracek who I will be speaking about later was recalled by the St. Louis Blues
which opened up a major opportunity for the young defenseman to make this opening night lineup but
with Alex Dean speaking on Justin Barron this adds some depth on the left side like he said and
falling back into it of course you had multiple options there and Logan Mayu is a right-handed
defenseman so not filling the void there but with Justin Barron joining again and we continue to
say between Darius, myself, and even the comments this is a super deep team when it comes to
everything from defensemen to forwards to goaltenders and now looking at the left side of
Philip Rover, Theo Linsing, Cam Fowler, you have Justin Barron on the right side of course Logan
This is a team that now has a lot of options at each position which you love to see and Justin
Barron who is picked up as an experienced veteran defenseman to fill in the void if someone like
Theo Linsing struggles or if you want to get a veteran face in if someone else and let's hope
knock on wood it doesn't happen you have someone that can fill in with the 200 games in the NHL
and of course Logan Mayu is out with an update coming through which we got today but now diving
into Justin Barron I don't think this is going to be the sense that Barron gets into game one as the
sixth defenseman this is going to be a depth and of course he needs to get acclimated into the
franchise he needs to work with this group to learn Monte's game now with Justin Barron wearing
now number 72 in the practice it opened up an opportunity for the Blues to go out and recall
a young defenseman that not only Monte loves but Alex Steen spoke very highly of saying he was a
sponge working on his game and caught the eye of this organization from the prospect camp pushing
into training camp and now on the opening night roster where Adam Jurczyk was recalled from
Springfield and they placed a few key guys on waivers now with Kelly Rosen I do expect a lot
of these guys to clear waivers but with Adam Jurczyk getting this opportunity the St. Louis Blues are
now in the opportunity to put a young guy out there that's going to fight to never leave the
lineup when one door closes another opens a promising camp and comparisons from Jim Montgomery
on McCarra and Hughes Adam Jurczyk will get a chance to show what he's capable of at the NHL level
sooner rather than later now there is a chance that Adam Jurczyk doesn't spend the full year
here you get of course Logan Mayu back in eight weeks or so but this just shows that the Blues
have these young guys ready to push through and fans I kind of want your thoughts on it of course
you have a lot of veterans down in the AHL Kelly Rosen just placed on waivers but with Adam Jurczyk
and the dominance that he showed at every single level jumping from the Czech League into the OHL
going out with the Brantford Bulldogs been up 59 points in 55 games five goals in the World Juniors
including a between the legs goal it was absolutely disgusting this is an offensively gifted
defenseman that has worked quite a bit on his defensive game he did this in the OHL the World
Juniors and now making the push already went pro last year with six games for Springfield
in the AHL and of course Steve Odd has done an incredible job to work with these young guys
and let them build into a system that translates straight into Monty's as they both worked with
each other before but fans what is your thoughts on Adam Jurczyk getting the call up of course the
no team needs to be cap compliant until 5 p.m eastern today so watching this there could be
more moves coming to an organization there's about 70 plus players currently on waivers maybe the
blues have their eyes on someone we've already seen one what the waiver wire pickup so maybe
there's a second coming in the books but what is your guys thoughts on this update what is your
thoughts on Logan Mayhew of course awesome to see that he stood up for Philip Groberg
but seeing that the defenseman the young piece that was set to start on the top pairing is now
out for eight weeks minimum as he will be re-evaluated what are your thoughts on the
injury who takes that spot on the top pairing how's your thoughts on the entire st louis blues
as we're going to see blues hockey very very soon and i cannot wait to see what this franchise does
in a big season let me know your thoughts down in the comments don't worry dearest was back
tomorrow as well i've been your host mark bye take care boys and see you in the next one
