Behind every perfect game, every match winning shot is pressure you can't imagine and sometimes
that pressure boils over when the lights are bright and the stakes are high even the best
in the world can lose control. Professional bowlers train for precision, composure and
discipline but in the heat of competition when every frame matters sometimes that calm
turns into absolute chaos. What exactly happens when the pressure gets to the pros? In this video
you're going to find out. I'm going to be looking at the biggest bowling meltdowns in PBA history,
times when the pros lost control for a number of reasons. It could be them getting angry due
to distractions from the fans or even overzealous angry celebrations. I've done a video series where
I look at some of bowling's biggest outbursts. Well this is similar but this video is essentially
a best of because I'll be choosing what I think are the top three greatest bowling meltdowns
of all time. Don't forget to let me know what your top three would be in the comments section below.
We're going to kick this video off straight away with number three, Sean Rash.
This is a moment that never really gets old and it took place at the 2011
Geico PBA team shootout. The team shootout by the way was a really fun event with a cool format
and as a tournament I'd love to see return. But back to Rash. During a one ball shootout section
of the event it was Sean Rash and Jason Belmonte that were left. Things got tense very quickly.
Belmonte had got himself a bit of a reputation at this point. There was talk that he tried to get
inside his opponent's head and there'll be accusations of him crinkling his water bottle
during his opponent's approach. We saw that Belmonte made a noise with the bottle on Rash's
approach although this could have been accidental. Rash though believed it to be intentional and
shouted over at Belmonte after he got the strike. This was one of the best moments in PBA history
and it did create tension between these two players. It resulted in a bit of a rivalry
between these two for a little while and when they played each other after this incident
it always had that bit of tension. Whether or not Belmonte purposefully tried to put players off
we don't know for certain although there was another allegation made by Brad Angelo.
Come on Jake. You didn't do anything without crinkling the stupid bottle.
It's the third time you've done it. No better than that. Number two Ernie Schlegel.
The strike is the big one. Wasted no time at all.
Another classic meltdown but in the form of a celebration. To say Schlegel's celebration was
over the top was an understatement. Randy was on the receiving end of quite possibly the worst break
in the history of the PBA. A strike was needed to win a major and he left a stone eight pin
off a perfect shot. Schlegel's reaction was just salt in the wound although him running around
shouting I am the greatest never stops being funny. I actually made a full video about this
iconic match and I broke down the entire telecast because it's a really really fascinating one
and in particular Ernie Schlegel was acting like this throughout the whole telecast so if you'd
like to give that video a watch you can do so by clicking the link above. Number one Pete Weber.
Please stop moving while I'm in my approach. That's all I ask. I said would you please stop moving in
my approach. Not good when you have the uh. I don't know what's hard about that to understand.
Somebody in the stands is what he's talking to somebody moving now.
Well you move again I want to move. I think honoree is the word that I would use now.
Pete's honoree. All day that. Really? Do that again. He is still talking to somebody over there.
And we'll get his spare. So Pete Weber gets the spare.
That's it. Gotta make it for the spare. He's missed one but not that one. Strike to claim it. A strike
to claim it. And he got it. You think you are. I am and that's right I am. And of course at number
one it can only be one moment and that is Pete Weber from the 2012 US Open. Throughout the entire
telecast he was getting angry at the fan and there was constant verbal exchange but the ending was
just perfect. You could not write this any better. A strike for bowling history. His fifth US Open
title and he responded with this now classic reaction. All what was going on with the fan
throughout the telecast just fueled Weber, fired him up and he just seemed to bowl better and better.
So those were what I thought are the top three best and biggest bowling outbursts in PBA history.
I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comment section below. Let me know what your top three
picks would be and if you have enjoyed this video I'd really appreciate it if you would consider
subscribing to the channel. Well that's going to do it from me for today and as always thank you
bowling fans and see you all next time.
