I'm gonna be honest, I wasn't really excited about staying in Lisbon, but I'm really glad I did.
I took two VIA tour options. I did a transfer because the cruise ship comes in early in the
morning and our hotel wasn't ready, so why not drive around and see some sights while you're
waiting? And then we went to the outskirts, definitely go to the outskirts and see some
of the beautiful beaches a little bit north from Lisbon. It's amazing, glad we did it.
So here are some of the highlights from our two tours. We'll talk about them in a second.
The day our cruise ship docked, we took this tour. It's a private transfer to the hotel. We
need to get to the hotel anyway and it costs a little bit more money. We figured while we're
waiting for our room to get ready, why not see some of the sites, the historical sites in Lisbon?
Actually, don't keep an eye on our bags. I don't have to find somewhere to store my bags either.
So we were sitting at the cruise port. He showed up right on time and took us to some of the most
beautiful viewpoints you can find anywhere in Portugal, including this church and just the
photo opportunities are amazing. And yes, there are their own locks of love there, so that's nice
too. You see some beautiful churches. On the day we were there, some of them weren't open,
but if you luck out and you time it right, you might be able to get in there. I think they were
just starting to open and we didn't have time. But beautiful cathedrals and basilicas all over,
just dotted all over this thing and the architecture from, I think, three different
periods. Just learn about all this stuff from your tour guide, who's very well versed with
excellent English too. He had like an American accent. I don't know how he pulled that off,
being a native guy from Portugal. And this church is just unbelievable. Take a look inside here.
So this was a surprise. In Belém, he has backstage access to this pastry shop,
these world-famous pastries that used to be made by monks. He was able to get us back in the kitchen
and see how things are made behind the scenes. And yes, it also does include a couple of samples
to put in your belly. And Felicia said it was one of the most delicious things she's
ever tasted. A lot of people try to copy this recipe. You can even find them
at McDonald's. But bakeries all over Portugal and Lisbon will try to copy this,
but they just don't get it right. And our drop off at the hotel was right on time.
Our next tour the next day was visiting Sintra, Pina Palace,
and some very interesting places along the Portugal coastline.
Sintra and Cascais are two of the most beautiful places we've ever visited. This is amazing.
And then you get some free time in Cascais, where you can grab some lunch,
get some gelato, not gelato. We got confused between that and Italy. But it's just an
adorable little town. And it was decorated here for the holidays at this time of year,
just after Thanksgiving. But what a picturesque, beautiful little town. Our guide did recommend
some awesome restaurants, including this one, Jardim dos Frangos. And try the chicken. You
will love it. Oh my god. And for dessert, stop by Santini for some gelato or gelato or whatever it
is. There's another one across the street. It's the same exact stuff. And it's much less crowded
right down the street from McDonald's and the centro de emprego, where if you're not
looking to have children stay away from this place. Love one fartura. With extra fart.
Oh, sugar. Yes, please. I love farturas.
Yeah, it looks good. Ah, thank you for the fartura.
What am I, 12 years old? To be honest, I couldn't help it. But tour links and the
description are in the comments. Thanks for watching. Make sure you hit that like and
