This summer, I found an 85 year old woman sitting in a park in Montreal, Canada. Her advice for young people and reflections on life were extremely profound, and so many people commented on her in the first video she appeared in on our channel, so we decided to share the extended interview with her, full of life lessons you will really enjoy.

An 85-year-old woman shares profound life lessons on the importance of time, relationships, and personal accountability. She warns against the youthful tendency to procrastinate and take life for granted, emphasizing that there are no second chances. Her reflections highlight the value of family, the joy of a compatible partnership, and the necessity of being a good person.
Everybody thinks when they're young you get a second chance,
but there is no second chances.
Nothing is long-term with the younger people.
They kind of take life like like it's it's easy. Nothing comes easy.
If it's not today, it'll be tomorrow. Yeah, I find young people
live in the moment. Yeah, a lot of them live in the moment.
I don't live in the moment anymore. You want that life?
You want that kind of money? You're in charge. Go get it.
So we posted this video a few weeks ago
And so many of the comments talk about this 85 year old woman
with her very cute dog the advice that she left
Honestly blew my mind
and we only released just a piece of that conversation
So today I want to share with you the full-length
Conversation with this 85 year old woman asking her about her biggest
Regrets in life and her best advice for someone of your age.
How old are you, 85? What does it feel like to be 85? Scary?
scary scary to be 85 to know that you don't have
that many more years in front of you so you've
got to make the best of it you want to do more now than than before
because before you had all
the time in the world and now you don't what's more important now
then now that you're you say
this whole scary 85 by the way you look great
wouldn't have guessed 85 thank you uh what's
more important family relationships
which you could take for granted before but now you don't
take it for granted because you've been you've seen
so much and you know so much and you hear
so much and so you don't take it
for granted relationships family everybody thinks when
they're young you get a second chance
but there's no second chances is there something that happened
in your life that makes you say this and realize
this like a a big event there have been a few
but um you can't dwell on that because if you dwell
on that it sets you back right and you have
to move on things happen
when you're young you don't think anything's gonna happen life happens
yeah and that's why you have
to take it seriously life really happens yeah and eventually I think
everybody gets to that point it's just
not me everybody else gets to that point some people
get to it much earlier yeah
but I was kind of a late bloomer I didn't get to it when my in my
60s or 70s I didn't get it do you have an example
if you don't mind sharing one of those events
you're talking about yeah a few
but i'd rather not talk about them that's fine but then you have
to move on if not you get stuck definitely yeah you get totally stuck
if you sit back and now
that i'm older i can take my time with everything what
do you think young people in general might
be taking for granted might not be realizing
is is as important as it really is and just thinking
that you have tomorrow you know just it doesn't matter what you
do today it's just it's nothing
is long-term with the younger people.
Young people put off things. They take it for granted.
They kind of take life like it's easy.
So if it's not today, it'll be tomorrow. Yeah. And maybe it's
good. Maybe it's good. They just, you know, take life easy.
And I take it a little more seriously
because of the time factor.
And I know that you don't have all the time. I find young people
live in the moment. Yeah. A lot of them live in the moment.
I don't live in the moment anymore.
When did that change?
I don't know.
I don't know when it changed.
I think it just comes with age.
I think it just comes with age and experience.
And I'm a very easygoing person.
I don't follow the trends.
I don't have to do this at this age and that at that age.
I just, I do stuff.
And a lot of times I have to do it alone
because my friends don't want to do that stuff anymore.
Like I walk long distances and I'm very physical
and I like to do physical things.
and a lot of friends they're not they're
not they just they're not up to it or it's not important
to them i like being outdoors god i have
a dog he's only jackson is five years old yeah so you
really young right yeah i've always had dogs
do you think that having these dogs have kept you
more active more mobile absolutely absolutely
because when i get up in the morning there's
another heartbeat in my house absolutely
my husband recently passed away so i'm on my own
gee I have to take him out I have to go for a walk
and I might as well go for a walk yeah
absolutely because when you get older you don't yeah like
my friends don't do the stuff I do
and it's okay how long were you together
with your husband for oh my god he would have been
married uh 60 odd years well I got married
when I was 20 20 20 oh my god 20 years old yeah yeah
He passed away five years ago, just when we got him.
Do you recommend that?
Is it times are different?
Well, I see my grandkids, and they're in their 30s,
and nobody's getting married yet.
Marriage, I don't know.
It's not for everybody.
Today, you don't have to get married.
If you still have kids and you don't have to get married,
it's different.
And it's fine.
There's nothing wrong with it.
You were married for 60 years.
Yeah.
What would be your advice for finding that?
like what does that person look like
or what do they have maybe you could talk about your
late husband of what he had that I don't know we just
um we were very different we just clicked
if I said it was rainy out he wouldn't turn to me
and say well I think it's more like snow it's not
rain we were always on the same page yeah you know
if I said tonight um let's go for dinner
do you feel like Chinese food yeah sure Chinese food's fine it's
not like no I don't want I want
it's like, I don't know. We just finished each other's sentences.
We were on the same page all
the time. It was never, yeah, we were always on the same page.
We liked the same thing. We loved
to travel. Yeah. We loved going for dinners.
We loved being with our kids. Nobody, we were just
like on the same page all the time.
Can you define the word love for me? When people say they're
madly in love. I just met
somebody and I'm so madly
in love. You see it all over the place. I'm madly
in love. Madly in love.
And then of course later on
you see it.
I watch too much Instagram.
Right. Yeah.
We all do. I don't know. We just
he was a very good boy.
And he was very calm.
We were just easy.
You know. And the
kids picked up on it. So I'm
hoping my kids have the same kind of relationship yeah
so they remember that yeah if you could give
one piece of advice to your 25 year old self what comes
to mind what would you say to her i would
never say don't take life seriously take it seriously
but you work through it and you have
to work through everything everything nothing comes easy
and don't listen to what other people
are doing and saying and what their life is like
and don't wish you had that or you were like that
or you had a relationship like this,
you wish you had more money
or you wish you had a better job
or you wish my life circumstances were different
because you're in charge.
Don't look back because you're in charge.
You want that life?
You want that kind of money?
You want that kind of car?
Well, go get it.
Yeah, that's what you have to do.
You can't worry about what other people have,
what other people say,
what other people think.
Just be your best self.
Be your best self.
Be a good person. And I think once you're a good person,
it really it comes back to you tenfold.
It really does. Live your best life. Thank you so much. That's it.
