Okay, I feel like I'm leaving ideas on the table,
and I desperately need your input.
Welcome to the channel, friends.
It's Angela, the Traveling Crafter, and today we are going to try,
I'm going to show you what I've come up with,
but I wanted to experiment with this little pack of
what they're calling stick strips.
I have no idea how old they are. I don't know where they're from.
maybe it says Wrigley California
no Irvine California hangers unlimited I bought them for
50 cents at a uh thrift store and here's what they say I'm going
to take this off of here for a minute
the stick strip adds a non-tear mylar film edge
to your binder sheet the stick strip is pre-punched
and simply attaches directly to your sheet
and you can add it to your binders all right so that's
what we've got here so we know what we can use it for however
when i got these i was like okay
this i was going to do this for a craft table test
and i think it's going to be a quick enough one
that we probably don't want
to do that so you can see here maybe you can't okay let me put this
underneath there so it's got one two three four
five punched holes so initially i was like all
right well that would be great for like an extension
or almost like to reinforce a page
in a journal whether you're putting it in a binder journal
or not I you know it's made out of mylar
right so I thought well let's just make a few of them
so here's what I've done I've got some washi
for supplies I've got some embellishments should we need them
and that's about it again this is
kind of your carry-on craft project
so what happens is I've left this sticky on there so
this would go on to the side of the page
so I thought well I can add these you know add a bunch
of washi it worked really great looks super cute adds
a little funsies to it then I did I thought
well they could make cute page edges
so I did a couple with the washi on them and then added these
and that's about as far as I got
so I feel like you as I make a couple of these I feel like you
guys are going to have some great ideas I don't know
if my if I'm just I don't know my brain's
not braining I don't know but the ideas are not flowing
for this project so bear with me I'm sorry
that's I wanted to use some of this blue
and I'm just using things that I have oh gosh I'm so sorry
if you guys know you know i don't like the sound of crinkling wrap
so if you two are one of those
people i feel you and i apologize in advance
so i put this on put this down so the sticky side is
facing down this part that will go to the page
and i just whipped some of this on here i thought
we would just do three of them maybe in this blue color
and then we can well you know what here's
something else we can do with it let me get one
that it will work with better but now i am not at
very good angle but what i did
when i did these other ones is i i'm gonna try to lean over this
i just tried to make sure everything was covered
and i think with a couple of them i did i had to
trim but i don't remember if i really yeah i didn't have
to trim i don't think um because i
didn't use any of the really wide ones
but if you did have a wider washi that you wanted to
to use you might have to do that so i'm just going
to trim off the edges so now we've got our
substrate or base there's just that one now let's just do a couple more
because i'm thinking you
know it's nice that those natural punched holes are in there
so i could just go back with my hole
punch and do it and put it right in a binder
or just line it up to where you know whatever binder
i'm using and i think it would work just fine i think they're great
and i think it's a fun find
but i just feel like i'm not i'm not using them for to their potential
so you know what when you
you don't know you go to all the experts out there
which is every single one of you see what you got
to say about it because i know you know i try
once i've used washi to just make a little tab
so i don't have to fight with it in the future let's
do one more i'm kind of knocking some dave's going
to be he had to actually work today i
was thinking he didn't have to work and usually he doesn't work
on fridays and he had to go um out of town to do a surgery uh
so he was gone this morning and he's
gonna be back shortly but um I was like kind of bummed
because I was ready to sorry that's shaking
um it's a rainy day and I was like oh we can just veg out
with we have a like a well I'm gonna
call it a tent
but it's not really a tent it's like
a oh what are those things called it's like
a four-sided you know sunroom uh for camping words
are not coming to me today and so it's got
screens that you know if you collapse that you can close if you want
but i sat out there this
morning and just listened to the to this um beating down
of the rain and read my book for
a little while and so i was kind of hoping
that dave would didn't have to work okay so what i'm
thinking is i what i haven't done
because all i've done really is use like ephemera or uh you know
die cuts and such and then these i just left plain
so maybe we'll do one with some of this
rick rack rick rack paddywhack and again
am i using the things that i would normally use in
my craft room the ouch the answer
is no because i'm using what i have on hand here as i'm traveling
so uh what i would suggest is if you've got Fabri-Tac
which i do somewhere i just don't know where
that somewhere is at the moment um use something some kind
of glue that is good on fabric but
we're just going to use this tight bond
and i think i might have mentioned it in my last what
is the dealio this was i bought a bunch of vintage uh rick rack
and this one was one that didn't have
a didn't have a cover on it so i didn't sell it
we're just going to go with that and then i'm
thinking maybe i'm gonna have to try to do a
straight line this should be interesting but
this tight bond once it goes down it's it's it's pretty good whereas
this other glue i have which
is hold on i gotta wait till this comes out it has
a little more wiggle room but my friend tammy
tammy she says that she uses this all the time swears by it
so we're trusting in her she
knows that it will work just fine and i do have
a whole gallon of this up at the lake because it
was so inexpensive and i'm like well i'll never run out
of that and i won't have to bring anything
else up here i don't know that it's the this one's called quick
and thick and that's the one
that tammy uses i think mine's just called
the tight bond so it's not maybe quite as quite as
fast and drying as this stuff is but it
is an inexpensive solution that is for sure so i could
just do this as a now you're probably saying well yeah angela
but you could just put this on the
side of your page edge yes you could
but my thought is so i should be a little more clear
my thought is that it might be something to maybe like extend your page
and i think that you know
need a little bit more on the edge of your page
because you could put it on the outside edge it
would also be really cute to do as um you know i like
to do pom pom trim and some things like that
so it would be cute just to do as your page edge
and do a bunch of them like that we're just going
to put a few of these down so i know this is going to be a quick video
but i just wanted i want your
advice how else can i use these and what am i
not thinking i mean clearly we can now put these on
top of a um pocket but really right now what I
have them kind of slated for are edges edges of
pockets edges of tags and edges of pages what else can we
do with these there we go that looks
pretty cute all right
so let's move these away
and what we've got here
I'm thinking if I wanted
to do I'm not sure I want to do another one
with just the I mean I could do them so that I could
almost like a um clusters that i could
then cut up you know
and just to have them as ready-made
clusters so maybe leave leave a little space between each one of them
so like i don't love
that bird so maybe if i
put him on there what
else could i put on move
them over so like we
could do i had a ticket i'm i do have some like real ephemera
my own ephemera but i don't i don't
have it out either the whole goal was just to try
to use some of this and not have a lot of things
for my carry-on crafts
because you know usually we don't
is my hand in the way when i'm throwing
things down there i don't know
i mean this one's already made
into this is cute this one i feel
like yeah see that we could
so it still remains a pocket but i
could just do that with that doesn't
seem like very what else do i have over here
i'm starting to get into i think the big pieces
these
are all
too big
i'm
making
a big old
mess i'm
gonna go
for it
now let
me take
a second
to
of all this this menagerie of stuff
this is if i didn't mention it before this is the simple
stories kit and it
is sweet summertime all
right so i think for this
i guess i'll just use
pack this down right now because i feel like i'd like
to maybe go over it to get my sewing machine
out and do just a quick quick stitch right down it
but essentially i mean i could just cut these
each apart now i've got little
clusters i know you can't see
that glue going on there very well but
and the reason i'm doing
this like that with just
one little line is that i
might want to tuck
something else on there or in there
so that allows me to have a little more wiggle room with it all
right now we're just gonna and i'm just going
to move this one up kind of high so it's this is off
the edge I
want to make
sure as much
of the glue
as I can
or show that
one is not my
favorite but
I think once I add some stitching
to it I'll probably like it better but so now I can cut it
what do you think thoughts on that I'm excited
for this video to see what you guys all say maybe
we'll do another one like
this last one we've got I don't know
I'm almost tempted to do something
like see if I put it on the page
I'm thinking I'd have to glue it
like so flip and it's not really
gonna flip it's probably not something that i'm
not loving any more of these i don't know why
just not here you got some more what are these i think
these were just something i had in my stash
here and it doesn't have a brand i don't have any branding
in for me this might be kind of cute
i do like
these um rainbows
but probably
for something else
nails cute fuzzy
bee we could
do a bee instead of two flowers actually let's do the bee here
and again i could if i wanted
do those as little clusters too let's see what i have
that i could put behind them from that other
kit you know
they have
to be pretty
small let's
see whoa i
just messed
that up
really
it's okay
it's fixable i was thinking
that looks pretty good there i could
do this little cloud with
the snail after it rains we get
the rainbows i had my tray out here
that i work on when i travel
but it was taking
up too much space
so i i'm just trying
to find something
else to tuck it
behind i think the butterfly i'm just gonna
leave just leave the butterfly and the bee
why not all right for this i'm gonna try to use my glue stick
and i know let's see if we can get
this right
on here sure to
the cloud this
one I'm gonna
see how far
in part I need
this does dry
clear so nothing to worry about there I'm just putting
a little glue on the edge where it's gonna
be on top of the number we got
our that this one
was pretty easy peasy wasn't it
and I can still
add to it or I can cut them apart
or I can just leave it how it is now I don't have unless I'm
doing a binder journal my pages are not usually that long
because this is like an 11 inch page
but or 11 inch strip so that you know keep
that in mind if you have if you have some of these let
me know do you need these no but I had them
so I wanted to play with them so we've got this one
we've got the ones with just the flowers I love how
that looks I think that would be an adorable
page edge. This one and then we have
the other ones that I did in advance.
That one is two that
are just plain. What do you think?
I look forward to your comments. Thanks for leaving them in
advance and we will talk to you next time.
I hope you enjoyed today's carry-on craft. It was a quick
one. Join me next time and until
then remember to take time just for you to be and we'll see you soon.
Cheers!
