Argentine superstar Lionel Messi is widely regarded as one of the greatest football players of all
time due to his remarkable accomplishments in the beautiful game. He has remained consistent
in his performance over the years ever since making his professional league debut for Barcelona
on the 24th of October 2004 against Espanyol at the tender age of 17. Messi has won a handful
of individual accolades and trophies, he has broken and set incredible records that probably
may not even be broken for a very long time. While his heroics and magical displays on the
pitch is very much known to every spectator and football fan around the world, not many
are quite acquainted with what Lionel Messi's daily routine looks like. Notable examples are
What time does he wake up daily? What is his fitness routine like? Does he have a specific
diet or food recipe? What does he do with his free time? All these and more will be discussed
in this video as we x-ray a day in the life of the Argentine superstar Lionel Messi. Let's go!
Wakes up by 6am A regular day in the life of Lionel Messi begins at 6am.
The Argentine is known for getting out of bed quite early. Of course, you know,
the earlier you start your day, the easier it is to accomplish daily tasks. He then proceeds to
take his shower, which is usually by 7am, before having breakfast with his family an hour later.
Food routine As for breakfast, Lionel Messi is believed
to have a specific food recipe, which he has maintained over the years. Of course, you know,
you are what you eat. An Italian nutritionist, Giuliano Posser, who worked with the Argentine
footballer during the 2014 World Cup, revealed that Lionel Messi's dietary regime consists of
five major food items, namely water, olive oil, whole grains, fresh fruit, and fresh vegetables.
His former club Barcelona also gave a hint of Messi's favorite recipe, of which consists of
30 grams olive oil, salt, 4 smashed garlic cloves, 1 onion, 1 bunch of carrots, 1 leek,
7-800 grams of potatoes, 4 chicken thighs, and fresh thyme. We wouldn't want to bore you with
the whole preparatory process of his favorite recipe in this video. However, oftentimes,
as documented, Lionel Messi's first meal of the day usually consists of fresh fruit,
veggies, whole grains, and orange juice. Training sessions by 9am
After having his breakfast, the Argentine heads out for the first of three training sessions for
the day, which usually begin at about 9am. Just like every professional football player,
Lionel Messi takes training seriously, and as a matter of fact, he has his own workout routine,
cut out, of which he has kept to over these years. Messi's major focus during training
centers around three major aspects, which are linear speed, agility, and stretching.
These types of training exercise can be considered a bit rigorous, as it consists of a variety of
plyometric-style workouts such as pillar bridge front, inverted hamstring stretches, knee-hug
lunges, pillar skips, hurdle hops, acceleration, and wall drill marching.
After an intense training session, which usually takes about two hours, Lionel Messi hits the
shower to freshen up. He then heads home to get ready to relax his muscles and spend time
with his family. Lunch and nap by 1pm Lionel Messi enjoys his lunch with his family,
usually between when he arrives home from training at midday and 1pm, when he takes a
much-deserved rest that lasts approximately one hour. He then spends quality time with his wife,
Antonella Rocuzzo, and their three sons, Matteo, Ciro, and Tiago. As a proud dad,
Lionel Messi never allows his glamorous football career to get between his love for his family
and always makes adequate time for them. In an interview while at Barcelona, he stated,
as soon as I had my children, the priority was always my family. It is the most important thing.
Obviously, I love football and I live for it, but family is above all.
Another training session by 3pm Next up for Lionel Messi is another
training workout, which is the first of two more sessions before he calls it a day. By 3pm,
he begins a light training session, which usually lasts for around one and a half hours,
before taking a short rest by 4.30pm. If the Argentine doesn't have a match to play,
he goes out once again for team training sessions at exactly 5pm. This usually lasts
for a couple of hours and includes various activities, which are determined by the club's
Dinner and free time with family by 8pm After another set of rigorous training
sessions with his team, he heads home to prepare for dinner with his family,
usually at about 8pm. He then spends time with his wife and kids once again,
before retiring to bed at about 9pm. Although occasionally there may be exceptions to when
he retires to bed and takes his dinner, as he could hang out with close friends and relatives
at night, should there be any special event. In general, a normal day in the life of Lionel
Messi revolves around training sessions, spending time with family, eating healthy,
getting adequate rest, and occasionally hanging out with friends and family.
