Hey there and welcome back.
In this section, we're going to show you how to use artificial intelligence so you can
improve and work on and change and alter your landscape photography.
There are going to be some purists out there who don't necessarily love this, but sometimes
just real life happens and things get in the way of our beautiful landscape photos.
So we're going to show you how to remove elements, how to change out skies, and how to add elements.
All right, let's get into it.
So here's our landscapes 07, we're just going to take our landscape photos and click and
drag them into Photoshop, and we're going to go to window and then down here to landscapes
01 and hit F for full screen.
So this is a beautiful landscape, again, stunning, absolutely great.
We are just going to make this sky a little bit more dramatic.
So I'm going to use my lasso tool to select this.
Now I really like all these clouds and everything like that, that we have here, boop, boop,
boop.
I'm not going to change the mountains, these mountains are important, like the real mountains
in real life, right?
So let's just, let's work on the sky instead of, as I'm recording this, I'm like, oh no,
I hope I don't upset anyone.
I just wanted to show you all the cool ways you could use AI, but I hope you like this.
Okay, we'll type in like, like windy clouds.
There we go.
And we'll hit on generate.
You don't have to do this by the way, and you don't even have to tell your friends how
to do this.
And I'm like, I'm just digging myself deeper in this hole here.
All right, there we go.
So windy clouds, there we go.
A little bit more clouds, some interesting stuff.
I mean, people do replace clouds, replace skies all the time in landscape photos.
Now we're just doing it with artificial intelligence.
So you know, justification, justification, justification, but you know, here's how to
do it.
There we go.
Some windy clouds in your image.
I'm going to just type in dramatic, dramatic clouds and hit generate.
The nice thing is here is it's matching the lighting direction.
It matches the color.
Like a lot of this stuff is just, you know, you don't have to try to like grab clouds
from another image and then like, you know, light match them and color match them and
things like that.
It's like already, already happening.
All right, let's do this one more time and see what it does.
And then, you know what, I'm going to just try making a few different selections up in
the sky and then see how that does.
Perfect.
But they're good.
They look good.
All right.
Dramatic clouds.
Um, yeah, that one actually looks good over there.
Okay.
I'm going to hit L for the lasso tool.
We're just going to type in there, make one over there, type in there, select there, boom,
and then type it in.
Dramatic clouds.
So obviously you can see I kept one like on the right side.
I thought that looked pretty good.
So just keeping that from one generative fill layer.
And then we're just making this more selections on the left hand side and seeing what it's
going to give us.
Uh, literally it gave us nothing.
Okay.
He's just like, no, all right.
It heard me.
It's like, okay, fine.
I'm not going to give you any clouds.
It's totally cool.
Uh, I don't need you.
I don't need your clouds.
Um, there we go.
All right.
Cool.
All right.
Some more clouds.
That's looking pretty good.
I'm also going to hit C for the crop tool.
We're going to go to generative expand and just kind of show you how to, uh, expand your
crop a little bit on the bottom.
And then we'll do the same thing on the top as well.
Just type in the period and hit generate.
So not only are we, um, you know, adding some elements to this, but we're also just going
to expand it a little bit and hopefully it does a nice job with this reflection.
There we go.
Fantastic.
All right.
Perfect.
And look, that's absolutely beautiful.
It's stunning.
I mean, look at the detail here in this reflection.
It added more of these pebbles going, I mean, could you even ask for more?
All right.
And then I'm going to do something that's not pure landscape.
We're just going to expand this over here and I'm going to type in cottage, remote smoke
chimney.
Obviously this doesn't exist.
I mean, neither do those clouds, clouds I don't, you know, clouds come and go.
Is this cottage actually there?
No.
But you know, if you want one to be there, maybe you can put one there.
Oh, that's way too big.
No way.
That's all horrible.
All right.
We're deleting that.
All right.
We are just going to take this crop and crop it out there.
All right.
Let's crop it in and hit enter, and then we'll crop it out a little bit more and hit enter.
All right.
So just do a generative expand, and then I'll just make a little selection in there and
then put a little cottage in there, and then I'm going to crop it back in because, you
know, there we go.
Cool.
That's actually kind of beautiful.
And then there we go.
Let's just put a little, little cottage down there.
All right.
Cottage and see how that looks.
I like the idea of a cottage.
I just want to live there.
I just want, I mean, I'd like to spend a few days there.
It doesn't look like there's a Costco nearby, so I don't know if I want to live there, but
I love the idea of a little cottage being there.
All right.
We're deleting that, but you get the idea, right?
We started off, let me just group all this.
So we started off with this, you know, beautiful landscape image, and then we were able to
expand it out to this, which is absolutely stunning in my opinion.
Beautiful, beautiful landscape image.
Obviously a lot of this is just made by AI.
So if you're a purist and don't want to use AI, then, then, then don't use it.
Okay.
So the first example looks pretty good.
Let's go ahead into our next example where you're going to show you how to do a complete
sky replacement.
So let's go to window down here, make sure you're on landscapes 02 and hit F4 full screen.
Perfect.
So we're going to start off by selecting our sky.
You can go to select and then down here to sky.
So select your sky.
There we go.
And we're going to hit generative fill and we're going to say dramatic sunset.
All right.
And click on generate and see what it gives us.
Again, it's going to give a few different options.
There we go.
And we will see what it gives us.
Fantastic.
All right.
Let's go through.
Yeah, that actually looks pretty good.
Yeah.
I like that as our sky.
Now, as you can see, like it kind of changed some of the rocks and stuff like that.
It gave us a little bit more like water too, which is kind of interesting.
Okay.
So what we're going to do, you can see basically what I want to do is I want this layer.
I'm just going to select on this layer.
I'm going to select all these rocks.
Okay.
I'm just going to select all these rocks.
There we go.
And then we're hit generative fill and I'm going to hit this dot and then hit generate.
I just want it to remove all of those rocks basically.
Okay.
And then we're going to add back the real ones.
I know it's a little bit of like a tedious process, but basically like it, sometimes
it'll just generate some stuff that we don't want.
All right.
I'm just going to type in remove rocks.
There we go.
See if it'll, it'll do it.
Just remove them all, please.
Just get rid of all of them.
Remove all the rocks, please.
Just give me, give me a nice sky that actually works for, for this.
All right.
No.
Okay.
Let me just type in sky.
It's like, I can't remove these rocks.
They're just too good.
We need them to be there.
You can do it.
Just get rid of all rocks.
I think possibly because it's, um, there we go.
Let's just do a new one here.
It sees all of what's in the shadow and a reflection and stuff like that.
Like it knows there's rocks or something like there.
So like see, it's creating this tower here to match that.
Like it's not letting me remove them because it's like, dude, there should be something
there.
So it's like, I think that's what's going on because normally it's, it would just remove
them all.
All right.
Cool.
So now there we go.
Now that's all removed.
All right.
Okay.
I know that's like a little bit like complicated to get all to where we're at now, but basically
what we're going to do now is I'm going to just group all that together.
So all this is now in one layer.
Okay.
Now, what we're going to do is I have my background here.
Okay.
We're just going to go to select and then down to, sorry, make sure we're just only
visible on the background, select, and then down to just select sky again.
There we go.
And then now with this layer here, I'm just going to click on my layer mask icon.
There we go.
Right.
So basically what I did is I made the sky that I wanted.
Like let's shift click on that.
Okay.
Like it started off here with those rocks and then it added more rocks.
Then I was finally able to get rid of them.
We still have a nice sky that fits in pretty well.
Problem is all the rocks are invisible and down here and all that stuff like that.
So what I did is when I went back to my background layer, let's make this invisible, back to
the background layer.
I just did a select sky and then I loaded that as a layer mask for this layer.
Okay.
For all three of these.
I just put them all in the same one.
Right.
Okay.
And then let's see these layers.
I'm just going to hit control or command T. Let's just scale them down a little bit.
There we go.
Because it added, you can see right here, it added like new horizon.
There we go.
Which we don't really want that.
Okay.
So wound up being just a little bit more complicated than, you know, than what we wanted.
Still we have a great result.
We, it doesn't, it doesn't at all mess with my original rocks and we have a new sky in
there, which actually looks pretty good.
The only reason why we had to do it that complicated is because the AI was just making more rocks.
And there's a lot of cases when you don't want that, right?
Like a sky change is one thing, but if you start changing a landscape, that's, that's
a whole other thing.
All right, let's go to window and we're going to go down to landscapes.
Oh three.
There we go.
Beautiful cabin in the woods.
But you know, what if you're like, okay, I just want a picture of the woods.
I don't want the cabin in there.
So we're just going to select that, hit generative field, click on that little dot and click
on generate.
And you know, I just want a picture of the woods.
Just be sure you select like the shadows and the snow and all that stuff around it, right?
It's all this snow is affecting.
That's all being affected by that, right?
So like, that's, that's just one thing to keep in mind.
Make sure you select all that.
And then there we go.
Now we have like a beautiful landscape shot with, you know, nothing, nothing bothering
it.
All right.
Let's see if we can put here.
I'll just type in white snow rabbit and see what it gives us.
Sometimes animals look good.
Sometimes they do not.
With artificial intelligence, you could of course composite your own in, but we'll, we're
just going to see what it, what it gives us there.
All right.
Let's just delete that.
I'm going to just make a, make a smaller one.
All right.
White Arctic fox.
There we go.
An Arctic fox.
Oh my God.
You saw an Arctic fox in Colorado?
I thought you guys stayed at a cabin.
Where's the, where's the cabin?
All right.
These look okay.
Let's just type in white fox.
I know, I know.
I'm kind of just being silly right now, but that's, you know, it's hard to not be a little
silly with this AI when you can like literally just type in anything you want and, you know,
see if it appears there.
Yeah.
Let's type in white hair and see if that looks, see, the fox looks okay.
It doesn't look super realistic if I'm being honest, the, you know, color looks a little
too saturated and all that stuff like that and you know, it doesn't really look that
good.
Anyway, that wasn't really the point of this.
The point was like, there's a lot of times when you take a landscape photo and just like,
I don't know, there's a parking lot or some telephone wires or something in your landscape
photo that you don't necessarily want in there.
And in this case, you know, this giant cabin, I just wanted to give you an example of like,
it doesn't even matter how big the thing is.
It's pretty easy to remove using artificial intelligence.
Alrighty.
There we go.
A few different examples.
So we added some sky to our first example.
We extended that image as well.
Our second example, we did a complete sky replacement and our third, we removed a large
object to make a picture of a cozy cabin.
I'm kind of missing the cabin now, but you know, Hey, I wanted to show you how to do
it, how to just remove things in general from your landscape photos so we can focus on the
landscape themselves.
Alrighty.
Thanks so much.
I'll see you in the next section.
Bye everyone.
