Hey there and welcome back.
In this section, we're going to show you how to replace backgrounds, which is
especially useful for things like product photography.
Basically you can select the product and generate an unlimited set of backgrounds.
Even if you just take a picture of a product, like on a table, and you want
to create like a nice high-end looking background, you can do it very quickly
using artificial intelligence.
So we're starting off here.
We're in section 05 product photography, and we're just going
to take with our three examples.
We'll just click and drag them right here into Photoshop.
I'm going to go to window and then down to our product photography
01 and hit F4 full screen.
So we've got these Beats headphones.
Let's go ahead right here in our contextual task bar to select subject,
or of course you can go to select and then down to subject, either one.
Okay.
It did a pretty good job.
Let's just go ahead.
I'm going to use L for my lasso tool.
There we go.
And just let's go ahead and minus, so I'm going to hold alt or option,
kind of like minus this out there.
Pretty good.
There we go.
And just kind of clean that up a little bit.
It doesn't have to be perfect.
Basically.
There we go.
Let's go ahead and move into the bottom, hold the shift key down and boom,
make that a selection as well.
Okay.
So now that my product itself is like, Oh, it's like the hand.
So I'm going to hold alt or option and just click and drag around the hand.
Make sure that's not selected either.
Okay.
We just want the product selected.
Okay.
The product is selected.
Now what we're going to do is inverse the selection.
So we're going to go up here in our contextual task bar, right over here,
this icon will inverse the selection, or you can go to select and then down
to inverse either one.
Okay.
So now our background is selected.
So let's go to generative fill and I'm just going to put that floating on lake.
Here we go.
And hit generate.
Obviously you can just type in whatever you want here and it's going to take the
lighting.
It's going to take the perspective.
It's going to take the product of into account and generate a completely new
background for you, which is absolutely incredible.
Here we go.
Floating on lake.
Here we go.
That one actually like gave us a reflection.
All right.
So we'll just say a different one of floating with reflection.
There we go.
And you can see I'm in my properties window.
I'm just going to hit generate again.
Here we go.
It did an okay job that time, but obviously like.
You can just keep on doing this over and over and over again until you get something
that you actually like.
Cool.
And that one actually looks pretty good.
Floating with reflection.
That one looks pretty cool too, but there we go.
All right.
There we go.
Let's call it white abstract clouds.
There we go.
And we'll hit generate there.
So we're just generating a few different options.
And the nice thing about this is let's say you get one image to work with, whether
you, you photographed it, it's your product, or maybe you're doing this for someone else.
You know what I mean?
Like if you just have one thing to work with, like you can then create a bunch of
different variations of this.
Okay.
We'll call it abstract S T R abstract geometric shapes.
There we go.
And hit generate.
So it's going to keep the product fidelity really high.
You know, it's like it, we, we selected the product and inversed it.
So basically it's just generating the backgrounds.
There we go.
And we can see here, we have a few different backgrounds that are kind of
interesting for the product as well.
Okay.
And then we can try to do like realistic, uh, um, realistic.
I want to put like studio, realistic studio.
These are like headphones, right?
So it makes sense that maybe they would be in a studio and, you know, just keep
trying until you get something that you want.
And then once you have like a result, that's similar to what you want, put an
eye there.
Okay.
Let's type in music studio here.
I don't think it really knew what we want when we typed in studio.
It was like make an eye, a giant purple eye.
Hmm.
Not exactly what we want.
There we go.
Music studio.
There we go.
Kind of cool, right?
There we go.
Like he'll type in recording studio.
So obviously very quickly, very easily, you've got a bunch of different
variations of things that are going to work with your image.
And then you can, you know, send these out to your clients if you want to.
Um, we're also just going to do, there we go.
Some couple of music studios.
That one's actually pretty cool.
All right.
And we'll just do the clean pink background gradient.
There we go.
Something like this.
All right.
If you just want to give it like a nice, nice color background.
There we go.
Yeah.
Something like that works pretty good.
You can see, we have a few different options and last one.
We'll just call that nature and see what it gives us.
So really quick and easy.
You can see, um, we have a few different options here.
Just choose your favorite, some nature headphones.
There we go.
And they look pretty good.
And a lot of these situations, some of them better than others, obviously,
but like, you know, that one, the reflection right above the water.
That's pretty cool.
This one in the clouds, this abstract one looks pretty cool.
Uh, you know, this one in this like studio setting looks pretty good.
I didn't love any of those pink ones, but you know, this nature
one looks pretty good too, you know?
So basically you get the idea, select something in versus selection
and then generate some backgrounds.
So let's get into our next image here.
We're in O2.
We're going to do the same thing.
So select subject.
There we go.
Uh, pretty good.
Let's just zoom in here.
I'm going to hit L for the lasso tool and minus this area out.
There we go.
I don't know if you can hear it right now, but there's a bird
outside, just freaking out.
It's going, ah, ah, ah.
It's afraid of artificial intelligence.
Ah, all right.
There we go.
Kind of just, it's coming for my worms.
Ah, ah.
All right.
So we made a selection there.
We'll just try to fill or type in urban.
There we go.
And see what we get.
The nice thing is it takes the lighting into consideration as well.
So even if you have a floating shoe like this and you need a shadow, uh, this AI
can actually generate a shadow for you.
Oh, that's kind of funny.
Uh, it actually, it generated urban setting inside of the shoe, but here
let's hit undo a couple of times because I forgot to inverse the selection.
So inverse the selection because we want to actually do the background.
I was too focused on the bird outside, freaking out about artificial intelligence.
Um, pretty funny, pretty, pretty, pretty funny.
All right.
So now, Hey, look, it made another one.
I mean, it looks like it's been through the, you know, been through a shredding
machine, but it made another shoe, which actually looks a lot like the original.
This is amazing.
Okay.
So urban even made the environment.
All right.
Let's just type in, um, street.
All right.
This is the first time that it's ever made another shoe
that matches the original shoe.
I've never seen that before.
Literally, usually it just puts it by itself and makes a new background.
Like that's actually pretty cool, right?
These are, these are pretty cool.
All right.
Street.
Let's hit generate again.
I don't know why it's thinking with this, you know, paint on the ground there, but.
Pretty cool.
You can see it's making the shadow and everything like that, which is,
which is pretty cool.
All right.
Let's type in, um, a few different backgrounds.
There we go.
That's actually looking pretty good.
All right.
The street it's loving this paint on the ground, which is kind of cool.
I mean, it's AI, you know, you don't have any control over what it's doing.
Um, I'm going to just have an NYC, New York city, right?
Like, Ooh, let's see what this looks like in, in New York city and see what,
see what it gives us.
So basically the idea of you could take one product shot and then create a bunch
of different variations from that product shot.
That's kind of cool.
Pebbles.
All right.
Uh, I'll just type in art, nature, art, nature.
There we go.
Show me what art nature looks like.
These pebbles look like coffee.
Look kind of weird.
Here we go.
Um, maybe I'll do the next one.
I'll do large round pebbles by like, yeah, that looks pretty good.
I mean, I got to say like, like really the shadow and everything, all the
integration, like I'm pretty, pretty impressed.
All right.
Uh, let's say large pebbles by a lake.
Let's see what it gives us.
Here we go.
Super cool.
So the next time someone asks you, Hey, go take a product photo of this out in
nature, uh, you know, you can just be like, well, let's just give me the studio.
Uh, image and, uh, I'll just use AI to generate the backgrounds, which is, I
know, pretty funny.
It's the world we live in now though.
It just is what it is.
All right.
These came out.
Okay.
I think the size is a little bit wrong.
All right.
Let's do orange.
Um, um, athletic or there we go.
And see what it gives us.
This really is just like type in whatever you think, you know, there's, that's why
we have so many examples in this tutorial.
Cause like the majority of this tutorial is type in whatever you think would go
there and then, you know, put it there.
That's actually pretty cool.
I think these are starting to work pretty well.
So yeah, that works pretty well.
Look at that shadow.
Come on.
Absolutely incredible.
All right, let's go to our next example.
Window going to go all the way down product photography Oh three.
And then this one, like I like the product it's photographed beautifully, but it's
done just on this super, super dark background.
And look at all this negative space up there.
Like we don't, we don't need all that.
Right.
So let's go to select subject here.
Let's go to, I'm going to just shrink this selection in a little bit.
So let's go to, uh, let's just go to, uh, contract selection and we'll just
call it like three pixels.
There we go.
And we'll flip it around.
All right.
We'll just hit generative fill and we'll call it white product.
View T back round P E a.
How do you spell beauty?
Someone helped me jump through the video.
B E a U T Y.
There we go.
Thank you.
Couldn't have done it without your help.
All right.
Oh, did I adjust my, I got to type that in.
I hit the right arrow a couple of times and it, it adjusted my
selection to the right a little bit, but you get the idea.
It's still look pretty good.
Like, look at that.
Okay.
Actually kind of, you know, I'm not mad at that at all.
All right.
I do like, I really like those results actually.
So let me just type in properties.
I'm going to just copy this and then we got to just delete that.
Try it again.
So select subject.
Okay.
And then we'll inverse this and then I'll try expand it.
So we'll just expand this by like three pixels.
Okay.
Generative fill, paste that in and see what it gives us.
There we go.
Basically, I just want to make sure the entire product is selected
and like as little of the background as possible.
It was just too dark and stuff like that.
Like with a ton of, ton of blank space up there.
I'm like, we don't need all that.
Right?
Like, cool.
Look at all this.
Now it's actually like in these, you know, background nature in there.
I liked how it put some leaves in there before.
It's generating all these shadows for us.
It's putting other, you know, nondescript beauty products in there for us.
It's like, dude, you could totally just takes like a couple simple
pictures of, you know, of your products.
And then like, boom, all of a sudden here.
It's, it's just mind blowing.
It's blowing my mind.
Yeah.
If a client sends you an image and they're like, Hey, you know, here's,
here's these couple images that I have of these products.
Can you put them on new backgrounds?
Um, yes, look at that.
I mean, that's beautiful.
Like matches the lighting.
Like, like what, like that's really nice.
I don't know that big bottle right there, but check this out.
Even if you wanted to, let's just create, I'm going to hit L for the lasso tool.
Like if you like all of it, except for this thing right here, you know, just
like gen fill that out, you know, boom, there we go.
Select their generative fill, hit that dot there.
Just basically indicating, like, fill it with whatever you want, you know,
gen fill that out and it's like, I don't know, put whatever you think should go
there.
I don't want that there, but I love this grass.
I love the depth of field.
I love the shadow.
You know, all that looks really good.
You know, this here is like, I don't want that either, you know, but
the rest of it, I really like.
So the gen fill, hit the dot there, hit generate, you know, like kidding me.
It's like, wow.
So cool.
So we generated the whole new background and now we're altering it with gen fill
as well.
Basically like telling it what to, what should and should not be in, in there.
Right.
So like, that's basically like, okay, cool.
We got this result.
There we go.
And then I was like, nah, take that out, take that out and then take this out.
Let's just see.
I want more like rock to be in there to even out my composition, generative
fill, hit that little period there, hit generate.
I don't mind this soap in there.
I think that kind of works.
So just to, you know, now we're using a couple different types of gen fill.
We're, we're using it to basically like completely make a new background for us.
There we go, man.
I think that works totally fine.
Create a new, let's just see if I can put like a pebble here.
There we go.
Hell type in pebble.
Oh, we'll see what it gives us again.
If you don't like the result, you can create more variations or literally
you can just turn that layer off.
So like, there's no harm in trying, you know, there we go.
Oh, a little pebble.
Let's generate, I wanted a darker colored pebble to, uh, balance out my
composition, although I don't mind that one.
There we go.
Darker colored pebble, or let's just type in here.
There we go.
All right.
Let's just make a selection over here.
Minus out this area there.
And we'll just type in pebbles.
There we go.
And see what it gives us.
If you want it to look like it's on a bunch of pebbles.
I don't know what it's going to do.
Obviously none of us do now.
There we go.
But there we go.
It's sitting on a bunch of pebbles now.
Like how cool is that?
Like actually really, really cool.
And there's our new image.
So if I go back down here, this is the original, like, you know, boom to that.
I don't know that like, you know, maybe I like that a little bit more.
Maybe I didn't mind when that soap thing was there.
I didn't like that so much.
That looks like it's sitting there a little bit better.
Um, if I wanted to, I can create a new layer, go to image down to apply image.
There we go.
I can go to filter down here to liquify.
Okay.
And there we go.
I could just like, I didn't like how it went so far down right there.
So I can just liquify that up a little bit, right?
Why not?
It's not real anyway.
It's computer generated.
So, you know, why don't I just make it look how I want it to look?
There we go.
So just showing you, you can do obviously a plethora of different things, but how cool is that?
We just started off with one product image and now we have all of these different variations.
So you can see, uh, product photography.
This is an incredible new tool where you can basically just take one image and generate a ton of new backgrounds.
Alrighty.
Thanks so much.
We'll see in the next section.
Bye everyone.
