The Halal Children's Home has organized
a 5 km Fostering Awareness Walk 2026 to promote
fostering and raise awareness about the importance
of providing every child with a loving and
supportive home. Held under the theme Compassion to Commitment,
Every Child Deserves a Home,
the event also provided participants
and invited guests with opportunities
for medical check-ups
and meaningful interactions.
The guest speaker,
Shuaib A. Mustafa, San,
commended the organizers
for the initiative
and called on the government, relevant agencies,
organizations, and individuals to support
the cause and contribute towards improving
the lives of vulnerable children.
Some have been orphaned by the wars and the crisis in the country.
So the Halal Children's Home is a group of women
who have gathered themselves to contribute towards
improving the society in terms of providing for the children,
the needy, the orphans.
They do a children's home and they do this program.
So you know that in Al-Qur'an,
the Prophet was sent to come and be a compassion to the world.
And we send you mercy to the world.
Now these people are also, you know women, they bear the burden.
They give birth to the children.
Would they see that a child would now be roaming about the streets
without the parental care?
That is exactly what they are doing today.
We have to be committed in order for us
to chart the better futures of this country.
If society fails, that is why we have that.
And it starts from every home.
Like I said in the beginning,
every parent should be asked about
the children that Allah entrusts in them.
Children are entrusted from Allah.
So let us address this thing from the basics.
Let all the mosques be speaking to the minds of the parents
that you are trustees of your children.
That is number one.
Those who have been orphaned, let the government work towards that.
Government also fails.
And that is why I love the idea of NDLEA,
they should work harder to ensure that we close all
the ranks. Wherever we know that the drugs
are being brought into the country, we should close
all those places and there should be a penal punishment
for whoever that is found guilty.
Speaking at the event, the president of Halal Children's Home,
Rahmatu Abubakar, highlighted some
of the challenges confronting the home
and appealed for greater support from government.
Corporate organizations
and well-meaning individuals to enable the center to continue its work.
So, it's important that the community rallies around them
to put them into their homes because
we always have compassion for orphans or vulnerable children,
but we do not take the commitment
to take them into our home and take care of them.
So, we're trying to bring awareness
and ask the general public to open their hearts, open
their homes for these children.
So, our population is such that the government cannot do everything.
So it's also up to us as individuals to also step up
and do our part in helping the government
take care of these children.
I started my journey with them in 2018
while I was entering junior secondary school and
alhamdulillah I'm already in my final year.
There were definitely ups and downs that I came across
while I was in the school,
Alhamdulillah, everything is finally coming to an end with the help
of the mothers, the individuals who have always been coming up to help,
to assist, the donors and everyone who has given their support.
We really appreciate them and we pray that Almighty Allah continues
to grant them all their heart desires.
Yes, for all the hours.
Sleepless nights just to make sure
that they put a smile in our face.
I'm one of the kids in Halal Children and as you can see,
I'm grateful for everything.
