Movie Description: In inner-city Detroit, Evelyn Mercer, beloved citizen and foster mother, gets killed during what seems to be a random grocery store robbery. Reunited during her funerals, four of her now grown adoptive sons decide to investigate the murder suspecting that the murder wasn’t so accidental after all. Jack (Garrett Hedlund), Angel (Tyrese Gibson), Bobby (Mark Wahlberg) and Jeremiah (André Benjamin) soon discover that the event was indeed part of criminal activities. They will then go on the hunt to find the criminal by themselves while being investigated themselves by two local cops.
A tense confrontation reveals a violent crime committed by Victor Sweet, who murdered a woman named Evelyn and her children. Law enforcement officers discuss the motive, suggesting Evelyn was investigating Sweet's corruption. The dialogue highlights internal police tensions, hidden reports, and a conspiracy involving an officer named Green and his associate Fowler.
Hey look, f**k you man, I will kick
your a**, son of a f**k, Jack.
Jack!
Get back!
Jack,

don't
you

Jack,

you gotta
*******
breathe,
come on,
Jack, did
you pick
the sweet?
Yeah, yeah, I was sweet, I killed my mother
and my little brother, you motherf**ker, thank
Victor Sweet.
Hey, let me talk to them, okay?
Look, I'm real sorry man,
I really am, but what happened here?
Victor Sweet did this.
How do you figure that?
Because his friend in the bag over there told me.
Okay, I'll make sure I get a statement from him, man.
That Sweet done was like this.
Why'd he have to be our mom?
Because Evelyn was going after him.
She knew her son, man.
She never thought for a second that you were corrupt.
But I never told her about my business.
Jerry, were you ever able to keep a secret from her?
She knew all about your trouble, man.
The moment they shut you down,
she went down there raising hell with the consulate.
You gonna bury Sweet or we?
I got me a home.
A dirty uniform I got to deal with first.
You see, Evelyn filed a report that got passed on to Victor Sweet.
By who?
Look, I just got something I...
Don't bullsh** me, Green.
Who are you protecting?
Your boy Fowler?
Look, Fowler's my problem.
I'll deal with him.
And then we get Sweet.
Green, so how are we going to deal with all this?
Self-defense, wasn't it?
Hey.
What's happening, partner?
He's cooking, boss.
Isn't this one of Victor Sweet's spots?
Yeah, I heard that.
So what?
Why didn't you tell me that you had talked
to Evelyn Mercer a week before she got killed?
I mean, don't you think that that's relevant to a murder investigation?
I didn't tell you, because it wasn't relevant at all.
Really?
I talked to the old lady for about five minutes.
She came in with her usual meddling.
Kids tagging up her block,
that kind of s**t.
You know, I figured it was something like that.
But you still should have said something to me, man.
Sorry.
Did she file a police report?
No.
I'll send it over to the Parks Department.
I'm gonna clean that up.
Five letters up.
Yeah, couldn't have been much more than that.
You wanna take a shot?
You're gonna need some practice.
I'd love to.
