Michigan’s newly elected Democratic senator Abdul El-Sayed asserted he won’t back Chuck Schumer as Senate Majority Leader.
Speaking to CNN, El-Sayed said he would back Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen as Senate Majority Leader.
US President Donald Trump reacted to El-Sayed not verbally backing Schumer for the role.
Despite El-Sayed’s comments, Schumer seemed confident he would become the Senate Majority Leader.
