Ladies and gentlemen,
today we're going to go over the most stolen car in every U.S. state.
Car theft is a widespread issue, driven by factors like demand
for parts and organized criminal activity.
And of course.
The demand to take them to Mexico. In 2024,
over 850,000 vehicles were stolen across the U.S.,
averaging one every 37 seconds.
Not gone in 60 seconds, gone every 37 seconds.
The data for this visualization comes
from a review of 2024 auto theft insurance claims
filed with the National Insurance Crime Bureau. We're going to go over
state-by-state alphabetical order.
Alabama, the Toyota Camry, 219
vehicles stolen. Alaska, the Chevrolet Silverado,
1,561 total vehicles stolen.
Arizona, the Hyundai Elantra, 649 vehicles stolen.

By the way, the Kia Soul, 75 vehicles.

Maryland, the Hyundai Elantra, 1,966
Hyundai Elantras stolen, Massachusetts,
the Honda Accord, and Hyundai Elantra tie,
there were 241 of each stolen, Michigan,

Minnesota, Hyundai Elantra, 652 vehicles stolen.
Mississippi, the Ford F-150 Series,
172 Fords stolen.
Missouri, Hyundai Elantra, 1,074 stolen.
Montana, the Ford F-150 Series,
60 F-150s stolen.
Nebraska, the Hyundai Elantra again.
245 Hyundais stolen, Nevada, the Hyundai Elantra,
832 Hyundais stolen, many of these are stolen
to do crimes with, New Hampshire, the GMC Savannah,
19 of these vehicles stolen, that
is laughable, New Jersey, the Honda Accord,
755 Honda Accords stolen, New Mexico,
Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 335 stolen.
New York, the Honda CR-V,
1,776 Hondas stolen.
North Carolina, back to the Hyundai Elantra,
1,094 Hyundais stolen.
North Dakota, Chevrolet Silverado,
1,546 stolen.
Ohio.
The Hyundai Elantra, 1,351 Hyundais stolen,
Oklahoma, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 293
Chevys stolen, Oregon, the Honda Civic,
435 Hondas stolen, Pennsylvania,
the Hyundai Elantra, 1,081

the Honda Accord, 331 stolen, South Dakota,

1,500, 6,453 stolen.
Mostly going to Mexico, you can bet.
Utah, the Honda Civic, 120 stolen.
Vermont, the Subaru Forester, 25 stolen.
Now that's laughable.
Virginia, the Hyundai Elantra, 550.
Hyundai Elantra's stolen.
Washington State, Hyundai Elantra, 1,379 vehicles stolen.
West Virginia, the Ford F-150 Series,
50 F-150s gone.
Wisconsin, Hyundai Elantra, 515 stolen.
Wyoming, the Ford F-150 Series, 19 vehicles stolen.
Hyundai's and Kia's missing security features make stealing
the vehicles much easier.
The most common model in the data set,
of course, is the Hyundai Elantra,
which was the most stolen car in 20 different states.
The Hyundai Sonata and Kia Soul also made an appearance.
A major reason for this trend is that many Hyundais
and Kia models produced between 2011 and 2021
lack electronic engine immobilizers,
basic anti-theft tech now standard in most vehicles.
This omission made it easier for thieves to exploit vulnerabilities
Especially after viral social media videos demonstrated how easy it
is to steal these
cars using simple tools.
Full-size pickups remain prime targets in rural and, of course,
border states because they're taking them to Mexico.
The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 leads
Theft tallies in Texas, California,
and seven additional states that abut Mexico,
while Ford F-150s head up the list and six others.
Both models are some of the most popular vehicles sold in the country,
so it also makes sense that they're also frequently stolen.
Looking at the most stolen cars, of course, the Hyundai Elantra,
Oh, buddy.
Chevrolet Silverado, the Ford F-150, Honda Accord,
and Jeep Grand Cherokee, along with the Honda Civic.
God bless, guys.
