Good morning. I'm Jacqueline Matter.
It is 4 a.m. on this Thursday, November 5th. Thanks for
starting your morning with us right here on Fox 5
and streaming on Fox Local. Here's what's
happening today. After a stretch of dry weather,
the D.C. region could actually see some rain
today. The Fox 5 weather team tracking the timing of it all
and whether Thursday will be a washout.
Plus, results start still trickling
in following Tuesday's midterm election.
Some races have yet to be called.
A look at where the results stand now,
more than 24 hours after the polls have closed.
And President Trump's proposed arch back in the spotlight,
the ruling that could shape the project's future.
Your News at Four starts right now.
Good morning. Thanks for joining us
on this Thursday as we get the day started.
One day closer to the weekend.
And Cesar, when I was coming into work today, it almost,
felt, I don't know if humid is the right word
because we're not in summertime, but I was
coming in and I could definitely tell a little bit
of a difference in the air this morning.
So definitely, Jacqueline.
Yeah, no, it was definitely much more humid compared to what
we normally see for this time of year.
And that's just thanks to the rain. Of course,
we had that rain make its way through our area
and we're going to still continue to see some
lingering showers throughout most of parts of the day, right?
Not going to be a complete washout,
But still, expect the whole.
Hold on to the umbrella for any of those showers
that may roll through by your area.
It is going to be warm.
We're going to talk about how long
the warmth lasts here in just a couple of minutes.
Over to you.
All right, Cesar.
Thanks.
We'll talk to you then.
Today, D.C. election officials will announce preliminary results
from the city's ranked
choice voting system. The results were delayed by a day
so that they could finish compiling the
ballots. Several races had been too close to call,
including the D.C. council at large seat
and several ANC races.
This year, D.C. voters ranked candidates in order of preference
rather than just picking one.
Election officials then do a round-by-round tabulation to determine
The winner and Maryland still
Still no winner as well called in the race for Frederick County
Sheriff, where Republican and Trump ally Chuck Jenkins is seeking
a sixth term, but right now his Democratic opponent Carl Bickel
is leading by more than 10,000 votes.
Key races across the country remain uncalled
this morning as well as votes continue to trickle in.
In Mississippi's Senate race, Democrat Scott Collum holds
a paper-thin lead over Republican Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith.
Over in Alaska, Democrat Mary Peltola leads Republican
Senator Dan Sullivan by a little more than 600 votes
with an estimated 74% of votes counted there.
And Alaska's governor race there, Democrat,
Jonathan Kreis Topkins, holding a strong lead over...
Republican Bernadette Wilson and in Kansas's governor race,
the Democrat Cindy Holshur holds
a razor thin lead over Republican Ty Masterson.

Some other top stories we're following this morning,
a teen boy fighting for his life after being hit by a car outside
of Chantilly High School in Northern Virginia yesterday.
Police say that his condition is life-threatening.
They have not yet confirmed if the teen is a student at Chantilly High,
but a source tells Fox 5 that the teen was trying to cross
the northbound lane of Stringfellow Road, not in the crosswalk area.

Today, the National Capital Planning Commission will vote
on President Trump's ARCH project.
It comes amid several lawsuits against the 250-foot-tall development,
including from veterans groups Arlington County and Washington, D.C.
We'll have more in a live report coming up at 4.30.
Well, it might not feel like winter in the DMV,
but Prince George's County is preparing early for
potentially snowy conditions in the coming months.
Right now, the county's Department of Public Works
and Transportation is conducting an annual snow dry run exercise.
A live look here from that event
happening out in Forestville as they have that practice, the dry run.
They're meant to test
equipment, review some of the routes,
and prepare staff for those winter operations.
And speaking of winter, the Fox 5 weather.
The weather team will be revealing
its 2026 winter weather outlook this morning.
Tucker and Cesar will be making that prediction
at 6.30 a.m. and again at 9.30 a.m.
So be sure to tune in to see how much
or how little snow the DMV might get this winter.
And with that, let's check in with Cesar
as we continue here talking about winter.
And hopefully as long as it's not like what we had last year
with the snow creep, my goodness,
everybody would like to forget all about that.
No, definitely.
That was horrible, because not only was it just all the ice
and the snow, but then it just kept the cold around,
so that made it even worse.
But yes, so far right now, we are definitely not having
to worry about any specific kind of winter weather right now.
Just seeing some rain showers still hanging around with us.
Looking here over towards Frederick,
you can see, of course, in the creek,
some of the raindrops hitting there, the water.
But overall, we are seeing some light
showers throughout most of our area.
65 degrees, so we are still on a warmer note.
And it's all thanks to the southerly winds
that continue to draw in a lot of that warmth.
So we're seeing winds at about 9 miles an hour.
And certainly seeing quite a lot
of at least activity here on satellite and radar.
So that is certainly going to be the.
The case as we continue through the morning,
especially as this cold front continues to push in towards our area.
So as this thing lingers just a little bit to the west,
it is going to help spark the initial showers that we do have going on.
Otherwise, expect to see temperatures also on a warmer note.
Another day where we're going to have most
of us sitting either in the low 70s or mid-70s,
thanks to a lot of that southerly flow just bringing in that warmth.
We're going to talk more about how long the warm stretch here lasts,
coming up in my full forecast in just a couple of minutes.
Jacqueline.
Alright Cesar, thanks. Taking a look at our roads right now.
No real issues to tell you about. Just taking a look
at our drive times here for your Thursday morning commute.
You're seeing under 10 minutes across the board
at most between Kenilworth Avenue and the 3rd Street Tunnel,
6 minutes between the Beltway and the Bridge,
and 5 minutes between the 11th Street Bridge
and the Kenilworth Avenue southbound lanes as well.
