AI GeneratedSeveral Minnesota election races remain undecided or are headed for recounts due to extremely slim margins. While the state saw record-breaking voter turnout—potentially the highest participation rate in the U.S.—four specific contests are too close to call, highlighting the impact of every single vote.
All right, two days after the election,
and questions still remain for several Minnesota races.
Four. Four contestants fall within
the margin for a publicly funded recount.
Let's get over to Chanu Her in our live center
with a closer look. Good morning.
Good morning, guys. Yeah, not everything is wrapped up just yet.
Some of those races we're
still closely watching.
So we'll start here at State Senate District 4, where the Republican
Austin Peterson, he won the race by just four votes,
beating the incumbent, the Democrat Rob
Kupack. So this race will need a recount
to certainly certify the winner there. Senate
District 33, that race still has not been called.
The Republican incumbent Karen Housley right now
Is beating the DFL champ,
Challenger, Nat Smith, and it's slim as well.
Just 42 votes separate them.
Now moving over to the Statehouse, District 32A.
This race headed for a recount.
The incumbent, the Republican, Nolan West,
is beating the Democratic challenger, Amanda
Match, by just 21 votes.
And then this one here, you know,
when you hear the phrase, every vote counts, so this
is a good example.
Spring Lake Park in their mayoral race, it's a tie right now.
So Robert Nelson, Halen Roth, they both, they each got 1,401 votes.
And so the city council on Monday will meet to canvas,
they will survey the election election results there.
And if there is still a tie after that,
then they will conduct a random drawing to choose who will be the mayor
and the candidates here can request a recount in this race.
So keep in mind, we did see record turnout numbers
on election day right here in Minnesota.
More than 2.8 million Minnesotans casted a ballot
in the midterms on Tuesday. So that marks.
The most ever for a statewide general election
Minnesota is projected to also have had
the highest voter participation rate in the country.
So elections are wrapped up,
but we're still keeping an eye on some of those races
that still have not completely wrapped up just yet.
That's insane.
Really, just proving every vote does count.
Truly, truly.
No doubt about it.
