Frank Lissette, Chief Deputy, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. I'm going to deliver some news that we all train for. All the local state and federal agencies you see behind me played a very important role into the events that transpired this afternoon. At approximately 12 11 this afternoon, we received a 911 call, multiple 911 calls of shots being fired within the Citibank Plaza located behind me. Within one minute at 12.12 p.m. our first marked Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office unit arrived on scene and entered the building. At 12.15, three minutes after, four minutes after the initial 911 call, Citibank Armed Security engaged the suspect in the cafeteria of the building. Both individuals exchanged gunfire, The suspect was shot, transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he is deceased. So we have one shooter as a suspect, one shooter who was employed by Citibank as an armed security guard. We have one victim that the suspect initially shot when he entered the property. When he enters the property, he drives over several medians through a grassed area, drives through a secure fence. Part of the building crashes into an outdoor seating area where multiple individuals were having lunch. Upon the car coming to rest, the suspect exits the vehicle with a rifle, approaches the female, and she is shot. We will not release the identification on the female. We are still pending on full identification and next of kin notification. As far as the suspect that is deceased at Tampa General Hospital, we have a pending identification on him that we will not release at this time. We are working through some information. We are very fluid at this stage of the investigation. This is a sad day for everybody involved in the Tampa Bay area and surrounding communities and the law enforcement partners. But let me throw out some quick facts that... Saved a lot of people. There was a lot of training that went into this by the federal agencies, local law enforcement. In our own sheriff's office on the initial response when that call was put out by our dispatches, 367 Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies all the way from the chief deputies and the entire command staff responded. Every detective from out around the agency that was working, our street crime units, everybody that was logged on responded in their tactical gear. There was not one hesitation. by anybody in this agency or the federal agents agencies to respond and engage that suspect at the very moment there at the moment of this shooting there were 3,200 Citibank employees on the property 3,200 employees our SWAT team also responded with the other 367 employees that responded from the sheriff's office It took us, from the time the 911 call came in, it took us two and a half hours to clear that massive building. Every inch of that building was cleared. There are six or seven buildings that are all three stories tall. Every inch of that building, every locked room was searched and secured by members of all these agencies. There were four other individuals that were treated at a local hospital. that are non-life-threatening injuries. At this point, we won't release their identities either, and we are still conducting interviews. With that being said, with that many witnesses, up to 3,200 witnesses, we will be doing interviews well into the night. The crime scene is very large. Remember, we have an outdoor scene, we have an indoor scene. Our crime scene will be processing the scene that will take several hours, if not until tomorrow. We have received phenomenal cooperation from Citibank, their executive staff, and all their employees. So thank you to Citibank and their cooperation. The other key players and partners in this was the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. Their response, again, was tremendous. Multiple assets, multiple fire engines, multiple ambulances, several personnel to get everybody treated. They are still on scene in various aspects that we have to clear this building. So thank you to them too. Any questions at this point? The information I give or depending on your question will be very limited based on the active investigation. When you say targeted to what respect? We are still working out through some details where the incident initially happened. We have to work through details. So some of that information is subject to change based on the information we received from the other 3,200 employees that still need to be interviewed. Is there any evidence so far that the suspect and victim knew each other or had any kind of relationship or anything like that? We are still working through that, sir. Yes, sir. Sir, ma'am. The video is from the community... Okay. Thank you. See if I've received multiple videos here showing one at a time, sir, multiple videos here from viewers showing an individual that's masked and carrying a rifle. If I show that to you, would you confirm that that's a suspect? I will confirm confirm at this point a vehicle through drove through the fence there area like I described and we have that individual who is now deceased in that video. Would you take a look at the video that I have? It was a small four door sedan vehicle. We'll get that information. I didn't hear somebody. The other injuries, were they shot or were they just running and you got injured? We are still working through that, sir. They're being treated at a local facility. Chief, how can we rush over? At this point, we haven't determined that. I don't believe so, but things can change. Any one of those four people could have been hurt by the vehicle. We just can't confirm that at this point. Chief, how crucial was the Citibank response? Do we believe that the suspect intended to kill others? We stopped the threat. The security guard that's employed by Citibank stopped the threat. Was there potential for further violence? Absolutely. So kudos to that security guard and the people they employ. The woman who was initially shot is dead. Is that correct? Yes, sir. A rifle.
