We have some breaking news now.
American networks have seen what they need to see.
They are ready
to make a call.
And that projection is that the Democrats
will take control of the US Senate.
The polls suggested they could do it,
but it would require flipping some ruby red states,
and so they've done just that.
What a message this will be now
to the lame duck president of Donald Trump.
So how did the Democrats get there?
They got the House and the Senate.
How'd that happen, David?
Well, we have just flipped over to 51,
as you can see there in our projected elected.
Thanks to our colleagues at the Associated Press.
And we'll show you the path the Democrats took
to win control of the Senate.
It all started in North Carolina,
where Roy Cooper kept his lifelong winning streak alive
as a former governor of that state.
Has never lost when he put his name on a ballot.
He flipped.
North Carolina with 58% of the vote.
Next door in South Carolina, similar story.
Annie Andrews, a pediatrician, winning that seat with 51% of the vote,
with 95% in, taking it away from the sister of the late senator,
Lindsey Graham, who was appointed to run in that seat.
It continued from there with Ohio,
where Sherrod Brown has won J.D. Vance's old Senate seat
over John Yuster with 88% of the vote in.
He has 48.6% of them.
Three Senate flips for the Democrats
in need of four coming into tonight.
The fourth comes in this state, Texas.
The first time since 1988 that a Democrat has won
a Senate seat in the state of Texas.
James Tallarico with a massive lead by Texas standards over Ken Paxton,
58.9% to 39.5% with 68% of the vote in.
A historic win for the Democrats in the state of Texas.
Up next, we want to show you Kansas.
They looked at Texas, voting Democrat for the first time since 1988,
and said, hold my beer.
They voted Democrat for the first time since 1932,
with Adam Hamilton winning that seat over Roger Marshall,
a six-point lead with 91% of the votes having been counted.
Another state we're watching that has just officially flipped,
thanks to the AP projections.
Here's Iowa. Josh Turek has won
that seat over former television broadcaster Ashley Hinson.
50.9% to 46% when 91% of the votes counted.
They needed four. They got them. They got some spares.
We're still waiting on Michigan, Maine,
Minnesota, a bunch of other seats. But Adrian,
they won the House pretty early in the night.
They won the Senate. They got 51. They need one
more to be Fetterman-proof, as we like to say.
But right now, the Democrats have full control
