Packers’ Jason Vrable on Matthew Golden Drawing Pass Interference
Nov 3, 2026
He said, I mean, he has the speed to get by a defender, right?
So oftentimes, like, they might be playing,
hey, let's say they're bringing pressure
and they're telling their defensive
backs to kind of squat near the sticks.
You know, that kind of happened in the Jets game.
They were kind of playing the sticks.
On third and eighth, some teams teach
their DBs to be slow on the back pedal
because we're pressuring them, forcing the ball out.
And he's ran through the contact,
and obviously he has the ability to get behind.
When you get behind a defender, what do they do?
They panic.
They don't want to give up the big play, you know,
you're on national television on BS, so then what do they do?
They try to make up for it with effort,
well then the ball might be up there and he's done a really good job.
But I would say, you know, in our room, Art Botta is always like,
yeah, it's great to draw the pass interference, and that's great,
but let's do both. Let's draw that in and make the play.
You know, I think that's got to be the standard.
Kind of the Packer way of playing like a G is just getting both,
you know, and coming down with the ball still, and there's no excuses.
The pass interference, you still make the play, right?
That's got to be the standard.
