The Oklahoma City Thunder just dominated the San Antonio Spurs
on national television beating them 105-93 winning by 12 points
and yes I know that doesn't seem like a whole lot but considering how
this game went the entire time it looked like complete domination
as the Oklahoma City Thunder
Just shut down Victor Wimbinyama and company the entire night.
Of course, holding a team to under 100 points
in the modern-day NBA league,
how things are played out, the amount of three-pointers taken,
how offenses are just dominating games,
there's not really a ton of defense being played anymore.
Holding a team to under 100 points is just impressive in general, okay?
Just got to go ahead and say that.
But it's the fact that we held Victor Wimpenyama as well
to a career low in points scored in a game, all right?
Now, I get it.
It's his second year in the league.
But still, considering that we did that to Victor Wimpenyama,
who was supposed to be, you know, better than Chet Holmgren, all right?
Supposed to be one of the potential GOATs in the future, all right?
A guy like that, we held him to six points tonight.
Helm to six is absolutely insane to me, okay?
And I keep saying tonight,
the time you guys are gonna see this
is gonna be Thursday morning or so.
And so just gotta keep in mind when I'm recording this,
I just finished with the game, all right?
When you guys see this, it's going to be the morning.
But we're going to give you a little, you know,
post-game breakdown, give you my initial
thoughts and reactions to this game,
what I kind of want to take away from it, what
I was seeing the entirety of the game,
along with looking at the box score, of course,
because we all love to look at the stats, right?
Let's be honest, we're human,
we love to look at the stats a little bit, even though that
doesn't tell the full story, we love to look at them.
And then along with a special thing
that I saw regarding the statistics, which kind of
stands out to me.
That, really, I wasn't paying attention to until I finally saw it.
But before we get into all that, though,
I want to just take a quick moment to recognize
if you guys find yourself coming back on a regular basis
and you enjoy the content that
we have here on the channel,
just go ahead and hit that subscribe button.
It's the best way to support the channel if you want to do that.
And hit that bell notification if you want
to stay up to date with any of the Oklahoma
City Thunder news that's coming out as of late, season starting off.
So we should be expecting a ton coming soon.
And finally, I hate to drag this on a little bit.
You're going to be seeing a little bit different videos here
for the next two days or so.
I have to go to D.C. just real quick,
and then I'll be right back, all right, guys?
But with that out of the way,
let's go ahead and give you my post-game reaction to the Thunder
just kind of beating down the Spurs the entirety of the night.
First, we'll go to the box score, of course, all right?
Let's go ahead and get to it.
The Spurs, this is what they had, all right?
All right.
I can't pronounce his name.
I want to say it's Champagne every time.
I think it's like Champagne.
But, one for five, one for four from three.
Three rebounds, one steal.
Minus 17, plus minus.
Alright, he was just doing nothing.
I didn't even know he was on the court most of the time.
Alright, Jeremy Sohan,
who has a weird jumper and weird free throw routine.
Honestly, not a bad performance from him.
17 points.
Now, some of those minutes did come from garbage time when we had some
of our starters sitting out there for a little bit at the end.
I do know he was like three of something, three of ten.
Um, three of 11 at some point,
I believe something around that, uh, kind of range.
So keep that in mind.
That was when he was playing against, you know,
the starters and wasn't garbage minutes,
but he did have nine boards and four assists.
So I will kind of recognize that long with only one turnover.
I'll recognize that it wasn't horrible from him.
All right.
Just the scoring.
It just took him for a little bit.
Get going.
So I will appreciate that.
So hand.
He had a decent outing, all right?
Harrison Barnes, I love Harrison Barnes.
I want to go ahead and say that.
He's one of my favorite players of all time, and I can't explain it.
He is the definition of a key role player.
He had a good outing, all right?
But then you go to the guy right underneath him,
Victor Wimpinyama, all right?
The slender man, the potential GOAT,
one of the future greats, all right?
Most potential in the league since LeBron James, apparently.
We held him to six points
and he only took five shots the entire game and played 27 minutes.
We locked this dude down.
He couldn't do anything. He looked like a fraud.
He could not do anything against the Thunder and Chet Holmgren.
Chet Holmgren and I prove that this season,
he's going to be the better player.
All right?
And in the future, if you want to look
at the new archetype of NBA, you know, sinners,
look at me instead of Victor Wimbanyama.
I'm the one dominating.
I'm the one winning rings.
I'm the one making an all-NBA team.
I'm the one being an all-star.
I'm making defensive player of the year teams.
That's what Chet Holmgren was saying against Victor Wimbanyama tonight.
He just dominated this performance over him.
He didn't.
And the national medium was hyping this up as a rivalry tonight.
Like, oh my gosh, it's going to be generational.
Victor and Chad are going to both drop 30 points each.
All right.
Victor only dropped six.
And four of his points came from the free throw line.
So to take away his free throws, he only scored two points tonight.
All right, sure, he got eight rebounds in three blocks,
but that didn't help his team win.
He couldn't shoot.
We locked him down.
We weren't letting him shoot.
He was a fraud.
He played like a bum.
That simple.
We locked him down.
Chris Paul, Thunder Legend.
All right, I'm not going to say anything about him
because he is a Thunder Legend.
He had nine assists.
Shout out.
Zach Collins, decent backup center.
Meh.
But, like, you're noticing this.
We just kind of locked down everyone.
Bronham, I think is how you pronounce his name,
decent outing off the bench, but in
general, we've locked up their starters,
which is what got us this victory.
Stopping Wimbinyama showed that their offense only revolved around him.
If you can stop Wimbinyama, you can stop this Spurs team.
Now going on to the Oklahoma City Thunder,
what we did tonight, and you're going to notice
not a single person got over like 25 points, all right?
Start off with Chet, who really dominated
this outing against Victor Wiminyama, like
I've been saying.
7-10 from the field, 3-3 from deep, alright,
19 points, only 5 boards, which is kind of
I don't want to say concerning, but threw me off a little bit.
Two assists, two steals, and two blocks, and five turnovers.
Yikes.
But he was scoring the ball so well,
playing so well down low in the interior.
Didn't matter.
He almost had an insane poster against Wimby as well.
Tried throwing it off the backboard after
he got him in the air to slam it down.
Thankfully, Jeremy Sohan, I say thankfully, unfortunately,
Jeremy Sohan was there to stop it.
Thank
So we would have saw a highlight reel from him.
Dub, not bad, 12 points, 5-13 from the field,
seven boards, eight assists, four steals, and a block.
you
He was all over the court tonight, all right?
Really good outing from him.
for
Shea looked off.
He might only like dud from this game,
this guy that didn't really perform, right?
having
Yes, he had 18 points,
but it's the fact he went 7-20 from the field
and 2-10 from deep, all right?
He just did not have a shot tonight.
He didn't.
Okay, four boards, five assists, and one steal.
me.
So at least he was trying to make up for it there.
Still had a positive plus minus.
So there's that because he's playing defense so well.
Lou Dort, the best player in the game.
All right, 20 points, seven to nine from the field,
six is eight from three.
He had six boards and two blocks as well.
He played lights out.
He was the best player on the court, no doubt about it.
Cason Wallace, also another guy.
He got the starting nine tonight as well.
Second of the season.
Nine points, two assists, two steals, and a block.
Solid outing from him.
Defensively, his presence was known.
And then you got guys like Uzman Jain.
He got 19 minutes of play.
I think he's been playing very well this season.
I truly do.
All right?
I want to see more minutes from him.
The fact that he got 19 tonight is very promising,
and he's playing very, very well to me.
All right?
Yes, he went two of five tonight.
Hit that three-pointer.
Okay?
But in fact, he had five rebounds,
three assists right there, and two steals.
He's looking confident, and that's the big thing.
He finally has some confidence playing
at the NBA level, and that's what he's needed.
Alex Caruso, sure, he didn't score again tonight,
but his presence is known on the defensive end for steals,
which is what we need to do.
We need to beef up this defense
so we know if we limit someone to like 90 points a game,
we can still win because even when someone has an off night for us,
like Shea Gildas Alexander, we're still putting up 100 plus.
All right, so that's why we got him.
Isaiah Joe, he kind of flew under the.
The radar for me wasn't really doing much the whole game,
but six points, one steal
and two assists.
We'll take that on two or three shooting.
That's nice.
Aaron Wiggins, two of eight from the field.
Not great shooting wise, just an off night
for him in general, but he did get three assists
and three boards doing everything out there he could.
And then AJ Mitchell really surprised me.
All right.
The two way contract guy.
Second round draft pick out of Santa Barbara.
All right, 5-6 tonight.
He knocked out a three-pointer, had four boards and two steals,
12 points, plus 7 in the plus-minus there.
Really impressive outing from him.
Look at these numbers as a team.
Even with Shea shooting like that, we still shot very well.
41 of 89 from the field, so 46%.
41% from 3, 17 to 41.
We didn't get to the free throw line all that much.
Only eight times.
Usually we get there at like 20 times.
If we got to the line as much as we usually do.
Be a different game.
We would, we would have dominated.
All right.
Uh, only 39 boards and we still won once Hartenstein is back.
We're going to be getting a ton of boards.
We're going to be getting a ton of boards, 28 assists, then 18 steals.
I'm going to go and go into this.
All right.
18 steals.
This flew under the radar for me,
but that is the second most in Thunder history.
All right.
This defense is going to be generationally good.
One of the best defenses the league will ever see,
and this just goes to show it right here.
I understand it's the San Antonio Spurs,
but the fact that we have the second most steals
in Thunder history tonight against them
this early in the season, it's insane to me.
This defense could be one of the best defenses of all time,
which could end up making this
one of the best teams of all time.
I don't want to overreact because it is the Spurs, but...
You got to keep that in mind.
It's like, man, this is insane what they're doing right now.
We got to look out.
That's all I got for this video.
Let me know what you guys personally think of this game.
Guy that really stood out to you and someone that you're like,
oh, they didn't really play that well to me looking at it.
Let me know in the comment section below.
I'll see you guys in the next video.
