Hello again everybody.
Okay, I've had a lot of questions on the Ascanio Spread
and the Elmsley Count,
which are necessary to do many tricks.
They're slights that are used in the Black Hole Trick
and also in the Magical Morphing Joker's Trick.
So let me show you how you do these slights.
The first one I'm going to go over is the Ascanio Spread.
What you're doing here is...
You want to hide the card.
You want to make five cards look like four cards.
So the card needs to be in the third position.
So you see I have the eights through five of diamonds.
The way you do this is you grip the cards
in what's called a Biddle Grip. You have the top
and bottom held nice and firmly.
You're going to peel off the top card. Peel off the fifth
card with your index finger
and the fourth card with your middle finger. And you're going to pull
Pull them out and spread them out just like that,
and you've got the two.
with the three right behind it. So it's actually a really easy move
if you practice it a little bit it really comes natural.
So again if you want to hide a card that's face up
and you have four face down cards, grip it like this
slide out the top card, slide out the cards in the fourth
and fifth position and you've now hidden
the card in the third position. Okay the next is the Elmsley Count.
With the Elmsley Count what you want to do
You want to hide the card in the third position.
So let's say we have a face-up card in the third position
and we want to make it
disappear.
What we do is you square up the cards. Now you
want to make it look like a natural count. What you do is you
pick up one and you're gonna take off two
but you're actually gonna push off two
cards.
It's gonna be this card and the card you're hiding.
And in the same move you're
going to return
The card that you just took
and you don't you don't want that card to go
be visible when you when it's going back. So you take off one
you now take off two and you just return back this card
right under that finger. 3, 4. So again you want to hide
this 3 so you take 1, peel off
2 and return
Just practice that, and it's pretty easy.
the card. 3, 4.
Now, also, in the last two tricks,
I've had to use the Elmsley Count with five cards.
If you want to hide two face-up cards,
you put them in the third and fourth positions,
and you do the same thing.
You peel off one, then you push off the whole pack
as two, three, four.
So, again, just with practice, it gets easier.
So you hold on to the pack, one,
2, 3, 3 cards, 3, 4.
So hopefully that's helpful
and it'll answer some of your questions
on the Elmsley count and the Ascanio spread.
Thank you. See you all next time.
