Just over 450 illegal aliens were detained in a multi-agency raid at Hyundai's massive construction site for a new EV battery plant in Bryan County, Georgia. So many Americans need a job right now. This is ridiculous. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and Explosives, the ATF, along with ICE, the FBI, and other agencies, said the workers were unlawfully employed, prompting investigations into immigration and labor violations. This highlights the need for the Trump administration to crack down on companies that hire illegals, including imposing criminal fines and criminal penalties like jail time. ATF's field office in Atlanta wrote on X that on Thursday a major immigration enforcement operation, the Hyundai Megasite battery plant in Bryan County, Georgia, leading to the apprehension of 450 plus unlawful aliens emphasizing our commitment to community safety. One day it released a statement quoted by Bloomberg indicating it was aware of the mass arrests at its Megasite battery plant in Bryan County. Its partner, LG Energy Solutions, said it is assessing the situation and coordinating it with the Korean government and other authorities. We are closely monitoring the situation and working to understand the specific circumstances. As of today, it is our understanding that none of the detained is directly employed by Hyundai Motor Company, Hyundai said in a statement. Recall that Hyundai received large tax breaks and other incentives to create jobs at the battery plant. Yes, those 450 jobs did not go to Americans, but instead to illegal aliens who likely sent some of their wages back home and overseas. Should Hyundai be held liable? Hell yes.
