Democrat James Tallarico is hoping these students
and people like them send him to Washington.
But if you look beyond this rally,
you'll understand why that might be a challenge.
I'm at Texas A&M in College Station, and this county itself
voted for Donald Trump by almost 25 points back in 2024.
So a college stop doesn't automatically mean friendly territory
for a Democrat here in Texas.
But I gotta say, the turnout
for this Tallarico event was incredibly packed.
There had to have been almost 2,000 people here.
We're talking students, people from the community who showed up,
and it was quite a bit more packed compared to the Ken Paxton event
that I attended in Abilene just a few days ago.
And these young Tallarico supporters who I talked to had plenty to say
about why they want to send him to the U.S. Senate.
I really love Tallarico and his views.
I just think that he just has
the right idea about bringing everyone together.
I really like his stance on affordability.
I think he's like one of the only people I've seen like
Like caring about actual like Texans instead of like big business.
I really agree with the Tallarico stance
and the fact that he's not taking APAC money,
I think really shows the sincerity and shows that,
you know, at least like he's a good person.
You know, he's not someone who's,
you know, able to be manipulated by money.
And that's what makes this stop interesting. In a statewide election,
he doesn't have to win this county
to benefit from winning more votes here.
If anything, it would just help narrow
that Republican advantage in the long game.
But young voters aren't just one political bloc.
I talked to a young lady who actually works at Texas A&M earlier today
and she said she's backing Republican Ken Paxton.
I really value the beliefs in the Republicans
and what they are striving to do
and just going by the values
and the faith and praying about it.
For James Tallarico, the test goes beyond just drawing a crowd,
which today we saw he could do.
The test is, can he convince these young Texans
that he understands their lives
and could make them objectively better?
