Harvesting Pumpkins & Cooking Paksiw With Kamias (Balimbing) | Our Simple Farm Life

We harvested a few small pumpkins, and I turned overripe kamias (bailimbing) into a sour, comforting paksiw for brunch. 🍲

We have several fruit trees that we planted a few years ago, and we didn’t realise they were so close to each other. Some of the trees get less sunlight because they’re shaded by the coconut leaves, so I asked Mik to cut the leaves so the other fruit trees can get good sunlight and room to grow.

I harvested a few pumpkins from my small pumpkin plant, and Ross is quite happy even though they aren’t big, since we didn’t fertilise the plant.

I cooked paksiw for my brunch using kamias fruits. They were overripe and most of them had fallen on the ground, so they would have gone to waste. Kamias is perfect for sinigang and paksiw, and gives a sour taste instead of vinegar.
