THE LIFE YOU GAVE ME | A Modern Adaptation of Frankenstein
"Science gave him life. Kindness taught him how to live."
What makes us human? The life we are given, or the love we choose to give?
Inspired by Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, THE LIFE YOU GAVE ME tells the story of a being created out of grief, rejected for being different, yet still capable of extraordinary compassion.
In a world where rejection can turn pain into hatred, his story asks a different question: What if kindness could break the cycle?
Because kindness cannot always change what happens to us, but it can change who we choose to become.
Choose kindness. Even when the world does not.
This film was produced by Group 2 - Shift 2 as part of the English Literature Final Project at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education. Through this modern reinterpretation of Frankenstein, our team hopes to spread a meaningful message about empathy, unconditional acceptance, and the power of kindness in a world where differences often lead to rejection.
Inspired by the spirit of “Kindness is Cool 2026–27,” our film reminds us that kindness is not a sign of weakness, but a conscious choice to remain compassionate, even in the face of suffering.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Bach Linh Trang, our English Literature lecturer, for her guidance, encouragement, and dedication throughout the course. Her teaching has inspired us to look beyond the pages of literary classics and discover how their timeless messages can resonate with the world today.
More than just a final project, The Life You Gave Me represents our shared creativity, dedication, and the unforgettable memories we have made together. We are truly grateful for the opportunity to bring literature to life in our own way.
