Congress Must Act: Schiff on Ai, Competition with China, Cost of Living Crisis, and More

Sen. Schiff joined Punchbowl News co-founders Jake Sherman and Anna Palmer at the publication’s first-ever Tech Summit in San Francisco to discuss his view on rapidly developing AI capabilities and the role of Congress in regulating the technology.

Schiff highlighted his legislation to ensure private industry pays for the energy they use amid the buildout of data centers, so that Americans are not forced to pay higher energy costs as a result of the AI boom, and discussed Democrats’ approach to AI oversight next year, noting that Americans should “expect constructive oversight, not destructive oversight.”
