2027 BMW 3 Series: EV vs Gas. These Two Cars Are Very Different
Oct 29, 2026
So I'm here in France to test drive
the all-new BMW 3 Series right here.
Now, I can't talk about it yet,
not for a few more days, no driving impressions,
but I can give you some other information about it,
including some interesting sort of facts that I think
are just going to be perfect for the car nerds out there.
So this right here is the fully electric i3
which is a lovely machine and then if you go right
behind it over here we have the M350
a gasoline powered model now they look basically identical
right i mean in fact they do so you might
be surprised to learn that they don't have the
same dimensions at all they don't have
the same width the same height uh the track on
them is different there's a lot
that's pretty different about these two vehicles
So the i3 is actually 37 millimeters
or roughly 1.5 inches longer in the wheelbase. Now,
that's to accommodate that big battery pack
that sticks underneath the car.
So that's interesting, except would you believe that it's actually
Five millimeters shorter in overall length.
And that's because the gasoline-powered model
actually has a longer front nose on it.
Now, a bit of a cheat way to figure that out,
if you come around here to the side of the vehicle
and you look at those fenders,
look at the wheel sitting inside the fender,
and you can see there, it's a pretty thin
little bit of space right behind the wheel.
Now, come on over here to the gas-powered model,
and look at this.
There's the fender.
This is not a trick of the camera.
A lot more space right behind the wheels.
