Gergana Vladova is a Sofia-born artist who has been painting portraits and figures for about 20 years, but sometimes still lifes and landscapes are part of her daily routine.
Her favorite mediums are oil paint and charcoal, because oil paint allows full expression of values, colors and edges, but charcoal is another world of gray tones that plays like a solo musical instrument in silence .
Her works can be described as impressionist realism which includes an abstract aspect, representing invisible reality. She uses and improves her drawing skills to create the neat parts of her paintings of her. For abstract areas she loses control and experiments with mediums. She uses some sketches, verses, palette knife techniques and every possible tool that can help her achieve different textures and effects on the canvas. She is almost always looking for the balance between objects and space, realism and abstract, the midpoint of duality.
