A security expert is weighing in after Round Rock police say
a good Samaritan stepped in at a gas station to rescue
a woman held against her will for over 24 hours.
Fox 7 Austin's Jenna King has the story.
She was afraid he was going to see her. She said, can you help me?
And I said, absolutely. And she goes, call 911.
A desperate cry for help, one woman experienced at the Refuel
gas station on East Palm Valley Boulevard Saturday night.
She opened the door when I was coming back.
She was scared to death. She just barely opened it.
the woman inside a pickup truck flagging
a good samaritan down for help she asked for her to take
a picture of the truck and call police we don't know
the level of aggression that this person
or violence that they've already inflicted on the individual
and so um i think that she did the best
that she could when officers arrived the woman told them
her partner had been driving her around
central texas for more than 24 hours holding her against her will
and repeatedly threatening to
kill her she refers to the the suspect
as her partner this individual was uh you know the
partner who obviously there
was a domestic violence incident that occurred officers
capturing the man being arrested
on body camera all right behind your back you are detained why
am i being detained we're investigating family violence we have
an allegation that you assaulted
your female passenger. A lot of individuals
who are in these scenarios don't speak out to friends
or family because when they do that,
in the moment they believe that they're seeking advice and
guidance, but then emotions calm down,
they start becoming more forgiving, they bring this person
back into their life, and then it creates a problem.

He says if you find yourself in a situation
like this, it's worth the risk
to seek help letting someone know what your situation is,
whether that's verbal or nonverbal,
because that may be your only opportunity. If you see something
you think is wrong, he says it's important to act
to help someone else. Put yourself in that
situation, put your child in that situation,
your family member in that situation. Would you want
someone to intervene.
I believe that this woman who intervened more than likely saved
the victim from a minimum of a violent attack, if not death.
That man identified
as 29-year-old Zachary Allen Jaws Gorey of Pflugerville.
He was taken into custody
and is now charged with aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony.
