Fan turns to prayer to get Rays a win

Thanks, Mark. And there is somebody who has a lot of faith that he's going viral for. You know, Rays fans, they went into Game 5 determined to keep that hope alive, some even turning to their spiritual side. For more on this, we want to go to FOX 13's Brianna Arredondo. She is live for us in Tampa. Brianna, I love this story. You actually spoke to the gentleman whose prayers actually went viral on TikTok. Tell us more. Yeah, Allie, just for reference, I'm here at Press Box tonight in Tampa where people are certainly having some prayers hopefully that this game turns around and that was certainly the case for Paul Leader, you know he could say that God was listening when he made his prayers because he was going for a win he prayed for a win that is exactly what happened and he was back out there today to go back to that church to try and see if God was listening again take a listen heavenly father i'm back again thank you so much for hearing my prayers yesterday yeah so this is Paul also known as the Bridgeman he's out who is out today and yesterday at St Pete First United Methodist saying that his prayers for a Rays win yesterday it went viral over a hundred thousand views on TikTok and he's actually here visiting his goddaughter and her husband who live in St Pete he is from Boston so he is really traveling far to make sure that he cheers for the Rays. Actually Rick and Paul went to games two and three together and they're actually at the top right now for game five and so after the series that we've seen so far I had to ask him you know what made him turn to a higher power. Rick asked me if I wanted to say a prayer to church and I said certainly so we came here I said a prayer it didn't matter which church it was because the Lord is in every house so he answered he heard my prayer so we came back to the same one today hoping he was still in the neighborhood not only do they go to the same church but again i mentioned they're at game five and they're actually sitting in the same area as they were last night they're out in the outfield and so again you have to talk about that theme where people are trying to do the same things wear the same things have the same rituals that they did yesterday hoping that we have a repeat for a win today but you know what paul he says he's a baseball fan and has been for his entire life. He is a longtime Rays fan and he's just really, really hoping for a win. He says that this team is resilient and so he's pretty confident that they can make a comeback in the game. Allie? Yeah, and we know Paul certainly isn't the only one who is sending up the prayers. Faith is very prominent in the sports world for sure. So we thank Paul for all of his prayers yesterday and hopefully the ones from today will work. Brianna, thank you.
