Cruise ships coasting through turbulent tides
and rough seas all this week.
Boy, are they ever.
That ocean is very choppy right now,
and passengers say it has been anything but smooth sailing.
Esther Bauer, live along the Space Coast right now.
Hi there, Esther.
Pools were even shut down on some of these cruise ships.
Lou Anne, they had to do that because the pools
were losing water with how much these cruise ships were swaying.
All this week, we have seen a very angry ocean,
and it still is that way.
Some people currently sailing are caught in the middle of all of it.
These aren't wave pools, but the water is still moving.
And that's when I saw the tidal waves occurring inside the pool
and the water being drained without anybody draining it.
Matthew Gillespie sharing these videos
with Fox 35 on his current cruise.
We started swaying back and forth.
His ship barreling through massive waves
from Port Canaveral to the Bahamas this week.
And I'm on the 14th floor and I was getting wet on out of my balcony.
He is an avid cruiser
and says it's never been this bad on a sailing before.
Ship staff even put up these sick bags
on stairwells for guests to grab.
Definitely an experience that I hope
to not experience again anytime soon.
He's not the only one whose experience had to shift on the seas.
The MSC Seashore had to adjust one stop on its sailing this week,
and a Margaritaville at Sea ship couldn't dock on schedule
and was a day late back to port.
Be precautionary because these seas can hit you pretty rough.
That's Matthew's best advice for anyone setting sail this week.
He says pack meds and be careful.
Hold on to the railings, 100%.
Be safe.
Do not just try to walk around.
But even though this sailing hasn't been smooth,
Mother Nature still hasn't turned him away
from hitting the seas again i can't wait for my next
sailing and Matthews's ship will be back here
in Brevard on Friday he says he's really enjoyed
this specific vacation
because everyone is actually getting closer because they all have
something to talk about reporting live
