He is currently practicing his art at his studio in Istanbul. Artistic characteristics: "My story begins in middle school. I was cleaning the palette of a great master. On the one hand, I was a young man of those years, possessing the most revolutionary ideas. As the well-bred child of an educated and financially stable family, acceptable subjects and canvases adorned with beautiful colors were never my goal. Drama, while contradicting itself within that ornate life, always influenced me. I knew exactly why I went to Neşet Günal's workshop. Günal was my second master, who not only painted there but also made the entire human interaction of the geography we live in his subject matter. He told me, 'My friend, you must show me more of your drawings.' My childhood, which had previously grown up with Hikmet ONAT's masterful figures, was perhaps the result of my belief in that artist's desire to create documentation, a feeling almost like responsibility, at school, the Mahir Güven you know."
