Inside London’s Car Crash Gangs | @mikeokay | Crash For Cash: Uncovered | Channel 4 Documentaries
Creator and journalist Mike Okay (@mikeokay) goes inside the world of crash for cash, a lucrative scam where UK gangs are staging crashes on Britain’s streets, and making serious money in return.
Every four minutes, there’s a suspected ‘crash for cash’ on UK’s roads. These crashes can either be completely fake – a complete set up with two in-the-know vehicles – or deliberate crashes into the vehicles of members of the public, who are made to look at fault themselves, and pay out. Mike travels to London to meet up with the organised criminal gangs risking both their lives and yours, some of whom are making up to £60,000 per crash. But how deep does this scam really go? Who makes up these secretive criminal networks, and is there anything that the unsuspecting public can do to stop themselves from getting scammed?
