We are making progress on our Pacific crossing! Some days go by quick and some drag on, but every second feels magical. Thank you all for following along! This video shows days 11-19 of our crossing and we still have more to go!
Give a little extra support 💞 The circumnavigation is JUST beginning... all of your help goes towards more gear to make the videos a bit better and the boat safer and more functional for myself as a single hand (and maybe an extra treat for Mako)
Finally, we're getting some of the trade winds.
Last night, I had the engine running for a little while,
Just trying to get south.
and around 5 a.m. I turned off the engine,
but then had to sail back out.
And we're going about six knots,
And it's six knots.
It's 10 to 11 knots at a whim.
I actually slept really well last night.
We should, probably by the end of the day,
turn more towards the Marquesas,
and ride the trades.
This is Mako's entertainment for the night.
There's a bird sitting on the solar panel over there.
And he won't move for at least the next 20 minutes.
Mako, no way.
Is there a bird?
Up there? Hi!
Okay, stay. Okay.
Is that what you
wanted to see?
Mako,
No. No.
We're
going
into
night
number
12. I
still
can't
get
Over.
Sales and property and everything we're going anywhere
from seven to eight there's 8.4 knots and only
12 knots of wind, um, yeah, the sunset's beautiful, I just
Can't get over the speeds we're achieving with these
conditions I know it's probably going
to change fairly soon we're almost in the current that rides
at the equator
And we're in the trade winds,
But I'm staying a bit to the north to keep the swell down.
I mean, we're going 8 knots with 11 knots of wind.
I don't need much more wind to keep flying,
So I'm okay with staying up north.
But if you go too far north, you'll lose the wind.
So it's somewhat of a delicate balance,
So I'm just kind of adjusting every day.
The trade winds will shift slightly farther north.
The further west I get, the more I should...
It should be fine; I just did a lot of computer work today.
and took a short nap, and that's
Pretty much, I think we're about a little over a third of the way now.
but this second third of
The trip should be a bit quicker.
so we just started sunset, day 12, and we are
1,358 miles
in out of 4,000.
So I'm keeping up with the Sea People.
The trip is posted on the Sea People app.
So if you guys want to, I definitely recommend checking it out.
It's a fun way to track people
and see each other's trips with photos and logbooks.
I use it to track all my trips now.
It's a really good logbook compared to the chartplotter and the rest.
I really enjoy it. I highly recommend checking it out.
If you don't have it already. The link is in the description.
Make us

Good morning, hi
Sugar, yeah
what do you
want good
Good morning
Since morning 12, the sea state has increased
A little bit of wind is 13 knots with us.
God bless!
It's behind us, not completely behind us.
but a slight change overnight
Um, the winds would pick up.
and then the boat would try to turn more into the wind
So a lot of weather handled
But it's really cool to feel it on the hydrovane and fix it properly.
So as the wind shifted, I learned and adjusted the sails.
So the jib is slightly reefed.
And the main is a tiny bit reefed.
but not really, um, I've adjusted the
sails to be more downwind now
and we'll probably keep doing that throughout the day
But we're going 7 knots,
6 to 8 knots with 12 to 14 knots of wind, when it's comfortable.
What
does
my boy
What do you want?
What?
What do you want?
Yeah, you have to.
The sun is setting soon; I'm just doing some editing.
The wind has died down a bit, not really, I guess, maybe just a tiny bit.
It's been, we're at 12-15 today, and that's now 9-12.
We're going six to seven and a half knots.
I'm not complaining at all. My average for the trip
Has already increased from 5.1 knots to 5.3 and should continue to rise.
The waves have picked up a bit, which is to be expected.
but we're going downwind and it's
Very comfortable. Slightly wobbly but not problematic.
We have about a knot and a half of current going with
With us as well.
Yeah, it's just another beautiful day out here.
Yeah, just reading.
and getting some work done
Good morning from day
13. Slept pretty well there
There were a few very light squalls last night.
So I just wanted to stay up and monitor the hydrovane.
and autopilot for those I ended up turning on autopilot
because the hydrovane moves with the wind
and thus it will turn the boat according to the wind direction
and when the wind picks up to like
With the sails I had set, or rather with the sail area I had deployed,
with the wind increasing, the boat would develop excessive weather helm,
and so I had to steer manually for a bit,
and I knew they were just passing by, so I didn't mind,
I didn't make any adjustments, so I knew it wouldn't last long.
But I slept well, other than that, sea sleep is about the same.
wind is about the same, and it looks like we may get
A few squalls today; there are some clouds ahead.
But otherwise, it's going pretty well; we're getting close.
to the halfway point, a few more days
Are you
a
Happy
boy

Good morning

Okay
good
Good morning
from
Day 14.
What, what do you think? It's rocking, isn't it? We
We've lost wind and we're rocking and rolling this
Good morning, it's not very comfortable. What do you do?
Think, bugs, can you make the wind start? Hey, yeah.
Yeah, the sails are still up where?
Are you going to go? I'm gonna run out.
On deck, you're okay.
I don't really know what time it is.
The clock isn't working; my phone isn't letting me change the time.
Thank you for watching!
The phone says it's about four o'clock.
Try to change the time back today, and it keeps reverting.
Itself. Doesn't like it.
Looks like there's a squall right next to us and I'm, looks like a
a bigger one, not just a small cloud.
So I'm kind of hoping it's moving faster than us.
Um...
And we don't get all of it,
I don't know how far away it is—probably a couple of miles.
We're both kind of heading in the same direction.
But I'm kind of like, there's a converging zone at some point.
It is moving faster than us because I
It was completely ahead of it about 20 minutes ago.
Yeah, it's funny, I've never, like, been to the Bahamas, I definitely have to go someday.
had some storms, especially in the summer, and squalls and...
After sailing in the Caribbean for so long,
I actually kind of forgot that I had all those squalls all the time.
I've gotten so used to not having, like,
I haven't sailed in the rain and all that.
Probably really since the Bahamas.
I've managed to get through all of my longer passages without rain.
I'm very grateful for that, because I didn't have the complete enclosure back then.
and this enclosure, like, it's amazing, but it does,
It's much better than the alternative, but it still leaks.
and the top is definitely no longer waterproof anymore,
But overall, it's really great, and I stay mostly dry in here.
unless it's boring and stuff, and it's stealing all of our wind, so.
Meiko, what's going on? Can you go fix that?
No? You're not even fazed anymore.
A good thing, I suppose.
He used to freak out every time the sails did that.
And now he has no worries in the world.
It makes me so happy.
He's finally becoming a cat who belongs on a boat.
Texting
The next step is going to be trying to get him used to the dinghy again.
He used to love jumping onto any boat that came alongside my boat.
So, um...
a v
He would jump onto anyone's dinghy, anyone's boat, it didn't matter what.
Nicolai
And now he runs.
But I'm kind of curious about how he'll be at the end of the sale.
I'd love to take him down a little bit.
Winther
Get him on a beach with no one else around and stuff.
I used to do that once in a while.
Thank you very much.
Anyway, just another day of editing.
I'm about to finish day 14.
So officially two weeks at sea.
Officially two weeks without seeing a single person.
Um, it's been good. I think I'm starting.
to get more into the routine
I just made my, probably one
Of the last meals, I'll have to do a big meal prep.
I have probably enough for 10 to 15 days.
Probably 15, at least 15 to 20 meals in the freezer right now.
Um, that feels really good.
So maybe I'll need to make another lunch at some point.
But I'm feeling really good about my food situation.
Fresh vegetables—I only have a couple of zucchinis and a couple of cucumbers.
and tomatoes left a little bit of
salad a little bit of lettuce
But most of it has gone bad; I still have tons of apples and Cuties.
I actually need to transfer everything tomorrow.
and put everything that's in the fridge that lasts
A little bit longer—I need to squeeze some limes.
So I have lime juice because, uh, they're going to be
Going bad soon
So I need to start eating stuff out of my freezer
so I can make space to put more things in.
Thanks for watching my video!
I didn't go fishing today.
I'll try again tomorrow, but that's the update.
Um...
Hope you enjoyed day 14's ramble.
Good morning
from day 15
We're
officially
In week 3.
The wind picked up a little bit overnight, and it's kind of,
It's not dying, but we're going.
We have 11 to 13 knots and we're going five.
and a half to seven knots at the moment.
The sea state has definitely increased. It's still sunny.
Everything's pretty much the same, knock on wood. I'm fine with that.
Yeah
just another
A day out here.
As the sail progressed, going downstairs became easier.
and my selection of produce was getting smaller.
So I prepared another meal,
A Tex-Mex bowl that I would have for lunch over the next few days.
Daily
fish
Maybe seeing the first boat I've seen in days.
Actually, I don't remember the last time I saw a boat.
Yeah, there's a cargo ship coming from the north.
They are approximately 10 miles away right now.
They're going at about 9 knots.
I'm going, whatever I said a second ago.
And so, I might see someone.
But it's somewhat reassuring now that the AIS is still functioning.
Because you never really know when you're not seeing boats.
Yeah, so AIS is working, and there's a boat in the area.
It's my excitement for today.
Good morning from day 16.
I'm just heating up some breakfast casserole right here.
The sea state increased slightly last night.
The wind is picking up a little.
We're seeing up to 20 now.
It
is
very
reefed
up
There.
I finally caught a fish!
I didn't have time to bring the GoPro over.
I just took a shower, of course.
But I got a little mahi.
Very excited about it.
I finally have space in my freezer too.
Wait a minute, I'm going to gut it and put it in the freezer.
I'm so excited.
Nika is going to be very happy.
Last
night
at 9
pm
and I
already
wasn't
feeling
Great
Yesterday.
So today we're having my little bottle
of half-lake champagne.
Yeah, we should have about
Twelve days left, I think.
Cheers!
Good evening from Dane.
I need to check.
It's now 17, but the entire day is still day 16.
We've gone 2,350 miles so far, and we have,
I check every five minutes, and I still forget.
1,707 miles to go.
So, um...
It's kind of been pretty repetitive as far as what we
and I have been doing.
He's been sleeping a lot, and I've just been editing.
and reading and just relaxing.
One thing I've really noticed is that my nervous system needed this.
You know, it sounds kind of cliché and all that, but...
I worked with a nervous system practitioner last year,
and I'm still in one of her courses,
And I'll put the link below in case you're interested in it.
This is for women, but...
I just noticed, like, I've been able
to calm down, more like being able to sit still, able
to sit with my thoughts and feelings
and emotions, and just kind of process things
I've been more inspired to work again
and it's just been so good to be out here with just the blue
And so far, everything has gone incredibly well.
The shackles on the traveler came off today,
But that was fine.
It was rattling around a little bit.
We kept going down.
We were almost downwind.
So it was a bit of a struggle today to get everything balanced.
We had really strong winds last night,
So I hauled in the jib almost completely.
And then today they die, they seem to come alive at night.
and die again during the day
for whatever reason
but it looks like there might be some squalls heading this way at some point
Point tonight, I can't believe how lucky we've gotten it's
has been a blessing that I still have
1,700 miles, so probably still have 10 to 12 days left,
So I'm not trying to get too excited.
It's still a long way to go.
We're not even halfway from Guadalajara to the Marquesas yet.
I think that happens in about two days.
No, it's three days and another 400 miles.
So yeah, days go by slow and fast, some days feel slower than others.
Some days feel faster than others.
Today was one that felt incredibly fast.
Good morning,
so
sea
state
is
about
the
same
wind
has
gone
back
down
to
10-12
knots
seems
to
be a
pattern
Every morning.
Day 18, I truly have no idea anymore,
I have to check my phone. Just made my
Mushroom coffee, and then we go upstairs.
Are you happy now? He was begging.
for food for approximately the past three hours
Good
evening
It's the end of the day.
18 I think the end of day 18 actually technically just started day 19
The time changes so
Yeah, today's highlight was definitely the dolphins—they're always
So fun to see the winds
have been pretty consistent waves have
It's been pretty consistent—same every night I go into it.
hoping there are no squalls, it's just nice to have
A dry night—we've gotten really lucky the past couple
Yeah, should be in for another beautiful sunset.
The sky tonight looks incredibly clear with just a few clouds.
all around
We'll see what the night brings; may it lead us to do good.
We have about 1,500 miles left; we're almost there.
Sometime tonight we'll reach halfway from the Galápagos to the Marquesas.
so by morning the Marquesas will officially
be the nearest land point to us, which is truly exciting.
Thanks for eating.
It's flying by, yet it's also moving slowly at the same time.
Some days pass more quickly than others.
I always hate night shifts.
Thank you
I don't know if it's because I'm alone,
but I just am not a fan
It's too much of a night out here as well.
for
at
I love it during the day.
I love this sailing, but I'm really looking forward to...
two
Sleeping and not worrying about things, and waking up constantly,
so
That would be really nice, but overall I'm loving it out here.
med.
This has been a dream of mine for a long time.
And I'm just praying it keeps going this well.
It's been amazing.
