Two whales freed from beach using buckets, hoses and an excavator

The whales got stranded on a beach right next to my house. We were advised from DFO to kind of leave the whales alone and stay away from their tails. But, like, I went down to investigate with my kids, and we could see that they were in pretty dire straits. But then once we started pouring some water and stuff over them, like, they started getting a bit revived. So we were like, man, we can't leave them here. Our mayor for the town, he came by on his quad, and he said that he could go get his pump. And once he got his pump and his hose going, it helped a lot. and then he left again to go get his excavator once we started digging him out with shovels and stuff. And we got the first one out with the help of a fisherman from the community. So he used his boat and pulled him out after we got him all dug out. Once we seen the first one starting to blow his blowhole and splash around and stuff, everybody was so excited. I heard that one of them might have came back on the beach further up along, but the fact that we gave him a chance at life again is the most important thing, right? and what was it like for you in that moment to see them swim away oh i was i was over the moon so happy and then like my boys were there with me too and then like for them to be able to see this whale swim away and show them that like hard work kind of pays off it just shows who we are
