How do you like your green beans, real long or cut in half?
Oh, it doesn't matter.
Well, goodness sakes, look at everybody.
I got about, let's see how many.
I got 20 people watching
so far.
Let's see.
Will's here.
Alice is here.
Alice has been waiting for weeks.
So happy to see you, Alice.
Redfish, Bluefish, well, hello, John.

Hello
Moreno
Thank you for your lovely note.
Sister Lachmo, glad to see you too.
Well, it's wonderful to be here.
Wonderful to be back.
Oh, here's Punchy Paints.
Let's see.
I'm missing some.
Let me go back up and click on live chat.
It's at a top chat.
I can get everybody.
Thanks.
Hello.
Chevy Fish.
Hi, Chevy Fish.
Don Gallagher.
Now we're getting everybody.
all i gotta do is control
my mouse a little bit takes
this fish setting up
another deep sand bed
right now he says all right did i get everybody
i noticed Punchy Paint says it's online there's Zen
ginger let me let me go back up here
make sure i'm on well i don't want them
on whatever maria
Hello, Maria. LRB.
Goodness gracious.
Nice to see you guys.
Thomas C. I've been through an
enormous struggle.
By the way, the background you're seeing is my backyard.
This is a room
that I rent from a wonderful elderly gentleman
who's 92 and far more active and busy than I am.
uh in fact he's preparing dinner right now we're having steak
and potato and green beans
so kind of excited about that that'll be ready
when i sign off let's see i don't know what would
be the best way to do this i'm
running two computers here one
is um i found before if i
thomas c is saying i got 100 pounds of sand ready
for my first try at a father fish substrate
what size tank is it thomas great
steak looking forward to it right
punchy come on over be good
to have you you need to get out
of the cold anyway cody
Son, hi Cody, son. Big J, hi Marie
having a struggle
with myself here
figuring out which
computer I want to look
at, I've got YouTube
up on one
and I have
StreamYard on the other
so we were
talking about
40 breeder, guessing how much I need
you don't need that much
are you going to use soil
in the tank? If so,
you need
about an inch
of soil
and make sure it's thoroughly
soaked so it stays down
Don, yeah, 50
pounds is more than enough
for a 29 gallon
You probably won't need all of it.
It won't be bad to put it all in,
particularly if you're going to do a dirted base.
Then just put the whole thing on top of it.
Make sure if you're doing dirt,
I just had somebody the last few days mess up on this.
They didn't wet the dirt thoroughly,
and they put it in on top of some gravel.
There was a little water in it.
So when they started putting the sand in,
the dirt was coming up through the sand because it was in water.
So no water, thoroughly wet dirt, and then cap it
with a good solid two inches of sand.
If you still have trouble,
if you still got dirt coming through,
add more sand before you put the water in the tank.
Chevy Fish, yeah.
I didn't have enough sense to be worried.
I was in the hospital for almost a week.
I became septic, was hallucinating,
was not in my right mind, didn't know what day it was.
don't remember whether i knew my name i'm not sure i did
but when when i was asked what day it is i
thought for a minute and nothing came
and i said that information is currently not available come
back in five minutes so they dosed me pretty heavily
with antibiotics for about three days
straight and knocked it out of my system.
It turns out I had been carrying bacterial infection
for a very, very long period of time,
six months to a year probably.
I was weak all the time. I
felt drained and didn't really know why.
Creative subconscious, Susan says, you just haven't got a
clue i solved the world's meme problem while i
was hallucinating i hallucinated global memes
in contact with a global meme um syndicate
and solved their problem for them it was fairly
amazing oh johnny knuckles visiting family
in venice we are not open until the first um
johnny i'm so sorry it would be wonderful to show you
the shop i'll tell you what i i went in today
because i had some people
who were picking up several very large fish and i didn't trust
anybody else to bag them i have people there every day
if you'll give me a call in the morning
i will arrange to have someone there during
the day uh you can call me and find out what time
they'll be there you'll be able to at least get
in and look around be happy to do that thank you
chevy fish let's see now i'm
jumping way ahead well i'm feeling
so much better i got home
saturday a week ago uh who was it said i
was look i'm looking better somebody just made that
foolish comment i do feel better chevy fish yeah i
um i've been sleeping basically for a week
my hand is um it's actually doing pretty well
the brace came off in the hospital they didn't want
that dirty old thing in the bed but it's still stiff
and some sore but it's moving good and i'm
feeling okay about it that's it's they said six weeks it's
been not even a month so it'll be a
while before it's 100 percent yeah sepsis
is very serious i didn't begin to believe how serious i had a
a kidney stone that was completely blocking the urethra
They went in, they operated,
and put a stent around the stone so I could urinate through that stent
They didn't want
to break it up because I was so badly infected
They didn't want to get more infection in my body,
so they just built a stent around it
I'm due back in on April the 9th to have it finally removed.
A land of the living, it feels the way Nocturnal.
It really does.
I can tell you right now, I'm going to miss a lot of comments here.
I have tried to stick with two or stick with one,
and I'm just going to stick,
I think, with the Stream Yard.
Well, I am keeping safe and healthy.
Today was the first day I've been out.
And I don't have that all gone feeling anymore,
that feeling of being totally drained.
I feel like I can eat and gain some stamina and some strength.
I'm weak. I can't walk very far,
but I actually went over to the shop and worked for probably
half an hour straight out,
and then I went to Publix and bought some groceries.
Just threw myself in the middle of it. Came back and took a shower.
Need to change the category on YouTube from entertainment to pets.
Greetings, everyone. Hope you're all safe. That's interesting.
my category on youtube is entertainment i didn't know
that thank you um fishkeeping jamaica i will
look at that and figure out how to make that
change paul emmer was down to see me did i miss
you paul i guess i did look
into comments paul
fishkeeping jamaica i
have been very ill um i was
seriously ill probably for six months without knowing it
um but i'm back i'm regaining strength
what i'm trying to do right now
is um avoid this new bubonic plague
um by staying in so i've
quarantined myself for two weeks till the first of april
and have shut the shop down we have people
going in every day who are taking care of the animals
so we're in the we're in good shape there
um i do have people going in if anybody is going to be around
and wants to get in and visit the
shop i probably won't be there
but if you'll call me i'll be happy to uh make arrangements
for you to be able to get in there are people
in every single day thank you chewy i didn't have
the sense to be worried i guess griffin
hi griffin you only wear a mask
when you have the virus
i thought you would that's interesting i thought you wore it
to keep from getting it um i was
amazed at Publix today the meat rack
was virtually empty i was able to get one really
nice steak but everything else was gone not even chicken
so they're loading up every day and up to
go out every day now i'm not going to be at the shop
for another another week week and a half
probably i've still got recuperating
to do and mainly i want to start building up some strength
there are things i want to be able to do on this channel
that i'm just not physically capable of
doing like getting into the creek and catching stuff
and digging up dirt and i'll be a little
boy again, which I really
very much want to be able
to do. Need aquarium
stands from liquid iron.
Go, Marino.
You funny guy. Funny guy.
Well, yeah, we're a little
nuts. That's true.
Sister Lockwood's in New York City.
Nice. What are you doing in New York,
Sister Lockwood?
Oh, you were visiting
family, weren't you?
You were going to get back to the shop.
Going to move here?
Oh, that'd be wonderful.
Well, I need to tell you a little about what's happening with the shop.
We have not made any final decisions,
but the day I got out of the hospital, I decided I'm done.
I can't do it one more day.
So I called up my landlord and told him I finally hit the wall
and was going to have to close the shop down.
Since then, I've been talking to my staff,
and they would like to keep it going.
One of the problems we have is in the current location,
there's no heating or air conditioning.
I put a lot of money into it.
We just can't make it work.
So, I'm going to suggest to the landlord that if he will
put a commercial HVAC system in, that we will stay there.
I do not believe he's going to do that.
In which case, that means we have
to decide whether we can find a place that's suitable
to move to and then go through the immense ordeal of moving.
In addition to which, we'll have to put together enough cash
to make the move work, to pay the rent, and to do the rebuild.
So there will be a lot involved if we make the move,
but we haven't made any decisions yet.
It'll be another couple of weeks before we do,
but I will keep everybody posted.
Thank you, Fish Keeping Jamaica. Appreciate the prayers.
Always appreciate prayers.
You're sitting
in your room staying away from people
That's what I've been doing, sister
Same thing
Mainstream media is nuts
Yeah, that's the biggest part of the problem
You know, I've been watching the president's daily reports
On the government's antivirus efforts
And it's so impressive
What he's been doing
And the people he's been able to get involved
and they go through the details of everything they're doing
and all the issues they're struggling with
and then the media chimes in
with their completely asinine questions.
20-year-old girls who have no idea in this world
what's going on in the world
are asking questions
like they're the most important thing in the world
and they're idiotic, purely idiotic.
I am amazed that someone with the,
how can I put it, the chutzpah of our president
tolerates the kind of absolute inanity
that he gets from the press as well as he does.
I don't think either
of the Roosevelts would have tolerated it one bit,
or Truman, for that matter, or a lot of other presidents we've met,
they would have, well,
Lincoln would have locked them up because he did.
He just locked them up.
But it's, you know, I feel like we can make a difference.
I feel like we're turning the tide on this thing by hanging in there
and really being serious about it.
We're going to bust this thing
and be able to come back stronger than ever.
This is a real test for us. A real, real test.
And I just appreciate so much the fact that so many
of you are hanging in there and doing the kinds of things
that just make it fun for people on the line to hang in there
and to find things that are interesting to do.
what is that like
i'm reading
somebody's
um note somebody's
notification
my store
on get gills is
open and i will honor orders
um it's getting warm enough most places to be able to ship out
i'm gonna also once i get back
on the first we'll start adding more things and see if we can um
Yeah, I heard Jersey was about to shut down.
Apparently, the governor was really irritated
that so many people were ignoring the need to stay in
And he just decided to shut it down
Can't blame him a bit.
Getting in the creek, Texas fish, my favorite thing
You betcha
Man, and do I miss it
I've not been able to do it for nearly a year.
It's been a long time since I've been able to muck around in the creek
get in a ditch, and catch some fish
Boy, I just want to get enough strength back to be able to do it.
My 80s are going to be little boy years.
I'm just really excited about that.
Let's see.
Let me move on down.
I don't know.
I don't want to go back, but maybe I should
I know I've missed a bunch of stuff.
kaylor happy to see
you and enjoy your
videos cody sun
found a koi creek
wow where holly did
you find a koi creek
that's pretty cool you know without ac
and Florida it gets up close to 100 in
that shop in the afternoon in the summer
and it's all summer long it was just unbearable
trying to do anything last summer i knew
then i wouldn't be able
to do it again yeah i want to do
that i'm really excited, Texas fish about getting
in there i need a i need a cohort i need somebody
to go along with me and film
or somebody i can film that i just um i'm a little apprehensive
about going by myself and i really don't i'm
not good enough with a camera to be able to go in the
water with the camera
because i'll wind up dunking it behind a hatchery oh that is so cool
you should be able
to get some really neat stuff polly
that would be great fun well in back of me
i don't know if i can show this to you the creek runs right
in back of me i don't know that we can
really see it try it what if you can if you can
look through the bushes there is a creek with
of running water in it should be able
to see it maybe you can see a reflection somewhere there
yeah there's the far bank right above my bed
so there's yeah there's the creek it's called curry
creek c-u-r-r-y it's a tidal creek so we get uh we
get tarpon i haven't seen any manatee we do get
tarpon coming up in it
and redfish it's not very deep it's only about five foot deep on a deep
tide chewy says i found out something about one
of the channels that i follow for history
the creator has a degree in biology
from oklahoma interesting oh johnny knuckles
sounds perfect to me i had a young man
who just wanted more than anything else in this world
to work with me. I used him many, many times
in many different ways from the time he was 19
until he was 31, about 12 years.
And he was suddenly killed in an auto accident. This was
last, gee whiz, last spring, last spring.
So it was not a year ago, six, eight months ago,
going last spring either it's the end
of the summer i guess i'm losing track of time again
um and i just miss him so desperately
because he was so gung-ho uh and at a time when i was
feeling really bad he was trying to get me out
to go collecting with him i was just not up to it
couldn't do it and he he wanted
so badly for me to go out and i just couldn't do it and
and just really felt bad about it and then he was gone
so all of the promise and hope and everything
was was taken away
with him it was it
was just really very sad and
hit me very hard dolphins i
know i don't know that dolphins are going
to come up bull sharks certainly could they'll come up in
shallow water i haven't seen any sharks
and i don't think dolphins are going to come up they
stay in deeper water they not deep water
but they're in you know maybe 20 feet of water i don't
think they'll come up that far well
that's pretty interesting showing
am i in the jungle yeah i kind
of am in the jungle i actually am at the the back corner
of a trailer park uh an old double wide
trailer that the the man who owns has been in
for i don't know 40 years i guess and it's just
all overgrown right up to the creek
so there's nothing on three sides there's a house in front
of ours but you really can't see it
so it's it's kind of idyllic it's very isolated and uh and just
a really wonderful, wonderful location.
Sean says he's back, and this is Sean.
Been shutting down, Susan, shutting down.
I know you've been shutting down
your fish. Turning from a guppy lady to a
crustacean lady. That's funny. Self-planting crayfish.
Impossible to get rid of. They are a trip.
I've seen small gators back here. I know there's some here.
I've not gotten in the creek but once
it's a hard sandy
bottom so it's
going to be nice being
able to get out there
and I know there are a lot of
neat little fish
I've got a couple of traps
I want to set, try to get
some other things going so I can
catch some of these, my goal
is to set up native
tanks to get out in the
bodies of water, dig up the dirt
bring back a bucket of dirt
and a bucket of plants, water, and fish,
put them together and let them run.
I'll probably do sponge filters because it'll clear the water quickly.
But I want to show you how easy it is to do native tanks,
and it should be great fun.
Johnny Knuckles says it didn't take much to convince
his wife after two days to want to move.
But it'll be wonderful, wonderful to have you, great fun to have you.
Now, sailfin and mollies. Yes, there are.
There are plenty of self and mollies in here,
and they're pretty easy to catch.
It's hard to catch big ones,
but the little ones are easy to catch.
Yeah, I think people get so uptight about having
their tanks perfect that they miss the joy
of having a slice of nature in their home.
So that's really what I want to try to create,
that natural environment without any fuss or muss.
I mean, you can literally set up a tank
in just a matter of a few minutes.
sailfin says they're really there
are no sailfin and mollies in Orlando
that's interesting can't
imagine it's too cold have you gotten up into the ditches
and creeks and stuff i'm a little
surprised because uh orlando is is is on the same
whatever that's called as tampa and i know tampa's
loaded with sailfin
and mollies i don't know maybe you need to get out a little further
one of the problems with water in urban areas
that said it's badly not polluted that certain
species won't even try to survive the other thing about sailfin
and mollies is that they're brackish
water fish so you need tidal creek
or water that occasionally has saltwater intrusion
in order to have a good supply of them.
Sean is talking about pygmies.
Oh, you mean these silly pygmy crayfish, pygmy sunfish.
I would love to get some pygmy.
I've been looking for pygmy sunfish for a couple of years,
but we're going to get them.
I have friends in Tampa who have collections of them.
Once I get back and get in gear,
I'm going to start putting that together.
The everglade eye is one that I just absolutely adore.
I've caught them before in numbers.
I'm going to find them again.
Nocturnal aquarist found them,
and there are plenty of them around, multiple places down here.
The pupfish I have is also interesting and extremely common,
a little hard to catch.
The best way to catch them is either with a minnow trap or a cast net.
They're in very shallow water, though.
The pupfish is in like four to six inches of water,
but they're extremely fast.
They just dart around.
I've had them brought in a couple of times by local kids,
and they do real well.
You know, last year I was able to breed them
and have two or three of my customers have populations,
growing populations of them in their tanks.
So that's worked out real well.
And it's a delightful little fish.
You can't keep it with much because they're just so aggressive.
They don't bite, but they chase to the point where they chase fish
until they run out of gas.
The banded pygmy sunfish.
I've never found them either.
They're a little further north here in Florida.
I've seen them.
I have friends who have them in their collections.
We're going to get them.
We're going to get them.
They really are cool.
There's so many very neat fish.
Using a dip net with a six-inch handle,
I have what's called a vat net.
It's a three-foot-wide net that stands about 18 inches deep,
square bottom, on about a
six-inch pole, and I push that through grass flats,
or I'll hold it a foot out from the
bank if there's a lot of plants growing right up on the bank,
and splash the water, and
the fish will dash into the net.
Johnny's back
to visit me
Yeah, do call me in the morning
You have my number, I'm sure
Let me post it
In case
What can I write on here
Well,
we
got a
good
time
We're in good shape
Eggs from the Amazon
Sister Lockwood was asking about
Eggs from the Amazon
That would be Peru
And they would come out of the
Alkaline lakes
Up in the Peruvian mountains
I don't know that anyone is harvesting them
in numbers that they can be brought in.
If you heard of them being brought into the States, I never have.
I know it's what
the flamingos turn pink on.
The flamingos go way up there to eat, see.
Hernandez says in this latitude,
there are no tropical fish, but some cold water species.
Yeah, there's a lot of really cool stuff in cooler climes,
though, particularly the darters.
The darters are just so amazingly, spectacularly beautiful,
and they really cannot be kept like here in Florida.
It's a perfect fish to keep in a vat or a pool
or even a tank outdoors in the shade in the summer,
And then they'll survive through the winter,
so long as it does not freeze solid.
Ordering from Amazon website.
Have you seen them listed
on Amazon website from South America?
I'm simply not aware of their availability.
I know they come out of the Salt Lakes and out of San Francisco,
out of the bay from the old salt flats.
which I understand are being abandoned,
are being filled in, tragically.
It's a major economic source
of food for tropical fish,
and it's a smaller shrimp than the Salt Lake City shrimp,
the Utah shrimp.
Well, Alice, we'll see if we're keeping this door.
I think we really want to.
It's just going to be a matter of figuring out how to pull it off.
But we've got some good people working on it.
If it can be done, we'll do it.
Sean is saying the ones from Brine Shrimp Direct.
I just got a can of them from Brine Shrimp Direct.
I don't remember, but I think they're Utah shrimp.
Marine cold water fish
like the wool field.
Dr. Marley of Vancouver Aquarium.
No, I'm not familiar with them.
I'm familiar with the wool field.
wasn't aware of that spawning activity um i can't
keep um cold water species here in florida just
my my shop gets too hot they just don't survive one
of the things that i have wanted to be able
to keep and i've tried a couple of times
is sticklebacks i love sticklebacks they're such
of cool little fish um but they just don't hold up
in um in warm in warm water uh they catch them
uh in tennessee i guess up in the mountains they come
in with um shiners with bait fish
and i've found them mixed in with bait fish tried
a couple of times to keep them i've never been
successful at it
the sticklebacks up
in in washington state yeah
it's a cold water fish
and it's a wonderful fish.
There are brackish.
They're also fresh water sticklebacks.
There are sticklebacks in England
and I think in parts of Europe.
I know it's a popular fish in England.
Are there
legalities
about
sticklebacks?
For God's sake.
People in Canada are nuts.
Redfish says they'll jump from aquarium to aquarium
and decimate the shrimp.
That's interesting.
I bet they're good jumpers too
they're very sleek little fish
well thank you Susan
I usually come away from a live stream
feeling energized
it just
it's like it pumps energy
into me I find it
such an enjoyable experience
but thank you for
your concern they fly
like torpedoes
never noticed that
I've never kept them long enough to
really be able to study them. I had them as a kid.
I grew up on the Chesapeake Bay and we
caught them all the time there.
And I would keep tanks through the summer.
Montreux Creek has insects on it and it's black in places.
Robert's talking about a piece of
woody guy that has insects on it and looks black in places.
Wondering if I should use it. Well,
Well, I will put it in a tank by itself.
You don't know what the bugs are.
You know, they could be fish-eating bugs.
There are such critters.
Put it in a tank by itself and study it.
See what it looks like.
Thank you, Ellis.
I know you are.
And you're part of the joy I derive from doing this stream.
I just appreciate your enthusiasm so much.
Colonial Beach.
I was on the eastern shore, mostly in Cat Island,
set an aquarium up near a window that doesn't get sun
and keep your tank cool enough for those shrimp murderers.
Well, it'd be a good tank to have plants in, too,
because they make, they nest in plant tubes.
They actually make little tubes
that the female will swim through and deposit eggs.
The male goes behind her and fertilizes them.
Alice saying that she hadn't received my letter.
This is why.
Today, I brought home all the letters.
So I'm going to make an effort now to address all of them.
There are about 25 or 30 I need to do,
and I'll see if I can't get them all.
That's my goal for this week, to get letters out
to everybody with a Fatherfish sticker.
Yeah, I'm a lefty.
Vinnie the Mooch,
nice to see you, Vinnie.
first timer oh i know
it makes me crazy sandy
how long it takes
to upload a video mind
and i've
talked to my supplier about it
and they say well that's the way it is you know i'm running as fast
as i can uh a 10 minute video takes an hour
and 15 minutes for me a 20 minute video is two to three
hours it's just ridiculous can't wait for uh
what's it called five five k that'll speed up
life you've been checking your mail every
day and i haven't even sent it oh dear i'm
so sorry
reena it's night here you have to go
to bed i don't know any of you except the lrb channel
nice to see you thank you for thank you
for plugging in good to have you with us have a
good night's sleep i'm keeping alice up i know she's struggling
to stay awake i'm sure what did
she say she's scolding
me i'm sorry well
don't want to freeze
your butt off
to see your fish
i've seen you outside in the dead of winter you can do it besides
which it's good for you
it depends on internet speed
but even the best speed it's a
slow process i don't know how you
upload a half an hour video
in 20 minutes susan that's amazing
alice is a trooper if i use the
ipad it's super fast that's interesting
yeah check um check bait shops
for shiners uh very often
there will be other species of fish in with them it's
a great way to be able to collect oddball
stuff they
wouldn't live
if you shipped
them nope they
would not cody
son let's see
how many people
How many people got 32 watching?
I just lost my screen.
36.
Valleyfish is here.
Hello, Valleyfish.
Yes, I can.
I've got a little tank here that I finally brought one over.
I'm going to be setting it up.
I haven't decided what to put in it yet,
but I am going to do that, Taylor.
Looking forward to it.
Probably it'll be natives.
Susan's going to lay down for a while.
Churches, I love you.
We're going to be signing off here in a few minutes.
Can we set up a stickleback tank?
I would love to do it.
