The extraordinary beauty and serenity of the water lily has a religious sense of ancient serenity. Lotus and Buddha have always been intricately linked, water lily petals cascading, clean and brilliant, people think of the allusion to the lotus step by step, think of the lotus seat of the Buddhist icon, the Buddhist ‘out of the world of five turbid, uncontaminated,’ to praise the holiness of the lotus.
