Have you ever lain awake with a worry that will not settle, afraid that everything beneath you is unsteady? A 30-minute sleep meditation for anxiety and resilience, in a soft British voice — a quiet reminder that the ground is still beneath you.
Storms come to every life. A message at the wrong hour. A week that asks too much. A worry that sweeps through the mind and sends every thought whirling. But the mountain does not fight the storm. It is the ground the weather passes over. And so are you.
This is a meditation for the nights when everything feels unsteady, and for anyone who is tired of being strong. Tonight, you do not need to hold yourself up. You only need to let your weight go.
Dream Voyage is a quiet space at the end of the day. Each week, a new night meditation — 30 minutes of soft British narration to help you release the day, settle your mind, and move gently into sleep. Not breathwork. Not body scans. Just a calm voice, a quiet theme, and space to rest.
For best results, listen lying down with dim or no light. Let the words move past you — there is nothing you need to do.
🌙 New night meditations every Sunday.
Part of the series: Night Meditations | Dream Voyage
This poetic reflection uses the metaphor of a mountain and a storm to explore the nature of resilience. It suggests that true strength is not about resisting or fighting the wind with hardness, but about recognizing the unchanging, grounded part of oneself that remains standing long after the storm has passed.
And the air
smells of
rain, but yet,
before you,
a mount
beneath,
with its
handful, most
of the life,
of the inside
of a shell,
a stream, as a
thread, comes
down through
the trees,
the mountain
does
not reach,
does not,
it does not
hold itself,
simply, the
shape made
here, through
every
evening,
to believe,
to think,
through hard times, must
be as hard as the storm,
that the storm will
carry you up the
mountain to the west,
something
is gathering, a dark
house very still,
even the stream seem
to
listen,
comes
down
the
valley,
pines,
every
loom,
heavy
car,
and
a
stone,
you
know,
what
should
have
pleased
the
storm,
just
hurrying,
the
storm
has
some
with
her,
but the
storm
has truly carried away
is exactly
the storm
was resting on the surface
grab dust
of a long
summer ups this season
has taken things
some certainty
some sleep
of your
patience that is real
it is allowed to be
is the
cost to
bracing against the
wind takes everything
you have to
hold yourself to
stay, through
every hour, to
be neither more
the difficulty
showing,
on the surface,
before the
storm, is over,
the mountain is not weary,
it never breaks, it simply
stay, and let the weather,
be weather, is what
was, not taken,
listening, you are,
has come, through
every storm, so far,
and is here,
tonight,
in the quiet,
something,
in you, did not,
in a storm,
you can only
see,
is only,
past,
see, is
greater,
so the
mount
does
not hold,
is below,
feel,
you're
up,
beneath,
the
floor,
still
there,
through
the
storm,
the
stairs,
it
does
not,
it
is
noticed, only,
in the shaking,
and you find, you
are still, standing,
on it, has not gone,
anywhere,
it is still
beneath you,
you do not
have to, you
do not have
to be strong,
this room,
this body, has stood through more,
it can count, this mind,
it feels things more than it sometimes
wishes, it did, you are two
things, you are the one
who feels, the wind
and you are the ground,
passes, refusing
to be moved, this is
what resilience
is, not the absence
of the storm,
not, not the performance of strength,
it is what is still there
when the weather has gone,
if the wind
should
come again
in its season,
you need not
meet it with
hardness, you
may feel was
never the danger the ground does not mind how much
the wind moves through you it asks only that you
stay let it hold
it has been there
all along
and every hard
night you have
ever this storm
is
passing
the
thunder
eastward
softer
to
single
the
pine
to one
star
comes
up this
storm
as a
phase this change
