Widespread road closures, checkpoints
and Israeli patrols in the mostly deserted streets of Hebron.
This military operation in the occupied West Bank
is in response to a deadly gun attack on Friday.
In one particular neighbourhood,
around 2,000 Palestinians have been forced from their homes
during a largely night-time evacuation.
It's the same area where the two gunmen are from.
At 1am Saturday, about 50 soldiers arrived with a high-ranking officer.
They told me I had 15 minutes to vacate the house.
Those people who had sheep
or other animals took them with them into the streets.
The sick, the children, the women and the elderly had to leave on foot.
Israel's government said the residents won't be allowed to return
until they have finished dealing with the issue of Hamas.
While the militant group congratulated the gunmen
and encouraged more attacks,
they didn't claim responsibility.
Residents here don't understand why they are being implicated.
As for those who carried out the attack,
if the Israeli government wants to punish them, they can punish them.
I have nothing to do with this.
I demand to be allowed to return home immediately.
Israel has also continued destroying several buildings in the city
which it says are illegal.
Large-scale demolitions of factories,
businesses and homes have taken place.
Infrastructure has also been targeted.
A number of arrests were made across the West Bank
and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
suggested bigger action was on the way.
