Canadian Ice Maples reflect on gold-medal performance in women's relay

A golden finish here for the Canadian women. And Courtney, first of all, you were ready to go. You missed the team huddle and had to get back. You were so ready to attack the race. Just describe this feeling with these ladies here. Oh yeah, winning the gold first World Tour in Vancouver is, it's incredible. It was definitely a tough race and we had to be really, we had to adapt a lot and kind of find chances to choose when to go. And I think that we executed it perfectly. and we were able to secure the gold, so, yeah. In typical short track style, it was chaotic, and Florence, you had to dodge the mass of humanity and the bodies to find your way across the line. How did you stay calm? I think you got to expect that to happen, especially in short track. Keep believing until the end. I knew coming up for those last two laps that a lot could happen. So I took my speed, watched them do their thing, and then I said, OK, I'll go on the outside. And then we won. It was really fun, yeah. Beautiful. Denae, it strikes me that this was a rematch of the Olympic final, the same teams out there. What was it like to step out there against these teams that you know well and win gold? Yeah, I didn't realize it was the same teams as the Olympic final. I think we're just focused on what we have to do, but all the teams were really high level We don't know how what to expect at the first World Tour of this season. So it was a We just did what we had to do Got the job done. Okay, Claudia I said that and you you two on the end will get to you and Sophie But you were both into this lineup with a group of women who know each other Well, what is that role like for you and to get a gold medal in in this pairing with this team? Well, it's super special to be back with the girls on the ice and for sure it's it feels good to be in Vancouver also in the week in the Canadian like a place spot Sorry for my English. I'm a bit shy I'm super happy and like yeah I'm just excited to be back with them and with Anne, so it's really nice to be together and like to be there Then you the new girl on the on the team. So yeah, it's pretty nice All right, last one for you Anne-Sophie. What strikes me about the power of this Canadian team is everybody plays their role perfectly. You did that in the semi-final to get the team into the final and you had a gold for it as well. Yes, I think I'm super proud of the girls and yes, I'm super glad to be there because it was my first race actually with the team and I think it went well and I'm happy. It's a great start.
