Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe speaker unboxes and examines a green inverter heat pump system, comparing the physical hardware to the service manual. He analyzes the components of both the outdoor condenser and the indoor air handler to prepare for installation, noting specific electrical boards, valves, and potential discrepancies with the manual's documentation.
Guys, I don't know how much video I'm going to have from today,
but right now I'm going
to pick up some equipment.
I normally have everything that I install delivered to my shop,
but this one is going
to be that green inverter system,
and I really want to unbox it, look at what we got, and
compare it with what I have in the service manual.
so that may be the video we have today is unboxing
that piece of equipment and taking a good look at
it stay tuned here it
comes all right so that
took almost an hour we
are fixing to head back
to the
shop so
we can
open
those
up we're
going
to need
to turn
that
around
finally
we can
see
what's in here
all right i think
this is what they're
going to call their
main board my two
line voltages ground and as you see here we have
yellow blue w1 red common and green's not being
used sometimes these will have a d
on them right now i'm looking to try
and identify as much as i
can looks like they make
a lot of effort trying
to keep that compressor cool
or quiet one all right
this there's a filter
board oh here it is back
here this is the filter
board that filters the
electricity you see it coming through here
and then it goes out
the top we're gonna have to
look and see what's under here and here we have
a massive coil i did not read about this in the
manual i'm wondering is that part
of this filter process
these wires right here you see
my fingers
on they are UV and W those are my wires that go to
my compressor right here so i'm assuming that
this board here
is our inverter board
and looking out here
this does require
a TXV inside but if i'm
not mistaken we do have electronic expansion
valve that looks like a stepper motor right there
and i was told that that's for adding
sub cooling little reversing valve
and yes there is a wait a
minute here's another electronic expansion valve
and here's another one of my pressure sensors
they do have a magnetic valve
in the manual so that must be that they use
when it's cold they
use hot gas and feed it back into the compressor
to help keep temperatures up and that allows them
to produce heat at very low temperatures
but around here we don't we don't see temperatures
down to like negative 22
it does look like most
of this is easy to get
to that i like i have worked
on other mini split style systems that are really
a pain it looks like they've taken some effort to
try to keep this from rubbing and causing a leak
now some of this in the manual the manual does not
give pictures that show all of this now we're going
to have dip switches somewhere on this board
right here and they are upside down to what's
in the manual i do plan on setting these before we
get on the job and this is these switches here
you can use to force defrost and put it in a
pump down mode i think there's
a charging mode there's all you can do all sorts of things with
this plus this gives you your error codes i'm
expecting on the back of this board there's like
a i don't know if you can see that there's like
a a heat sink that's sticking into the compartment
with the condenser all right my wire
is going to my motor here you can see
that's a plastic blade
it has a heater on the bottom
of the cabinet one
of these is going
to be the heater i think it's
this one i am looking
to see where my wires from
this might be my wires for
my condenser fan motor
normally we don't have problems
with this filter board
but you can normally
you have problems with
that inverter board back there
and as you can see some of that's going to be rather difficult to get
to and the line
set connections
that looks like seven
eights yeah that looks
big it's supposed
to have three quarters and three
eighths this is the three ton we
do have valves here to keep
pressure inside the system there are also valves on the air handler
because there's freon in the
evaporator coil as well
so you only have to pull a vacuum
on the line set if somebody can tell me
what this coil is for i'd appreciate it
because i have no idea most of it looks pretty straightforward
is this another i think
this is going to be another like
pressure transducer we got sensors
all over this thing i think finding them sometimes might
be the might be difficult there's one right
here supposed
to be a discharge
sensor that's probably
it right there
but anyway that's what
it looks like on the inside i do believe it's going
to be a very easy install i'm going to open
that one up here and we're going to look at that as i
was putting all this back together it's real
easy for this to come out of its little groove
and get pinched so be careful with that and this
door right here y'all saw me tugging
on it it lines up towards the bottom it has grooves that
and uh little pieces that fit in the grooves here here here
and over here so you start out with this
like right here you put it in the grooves
and you slide it up in order to put it in place so
to take this off you have to undo the screws slide it down
and pull it out all right this
is the air handler i'm sorry i didn't have light
when i was showing you all that once again we have
L1 L2 yellow how come there's
nothing hooked up to yellow i
guess we don't need it yellow blue
white red common and green so basically all
you need is any kind of heat pump thermostat
i am going to install 5kw in this which means i'm going
to hook power up over here and not here
so you don't do both your power goes through here
if you hook up a heater kit so there's only one
power supply we got
a board back here with a fuse in it
and as you see this blue and brown right
here are my power in right here let
me see where's the red one go i
am not as familiar with this one
maybe that wasn't a transformer that was over there
because here's my transformer that actually
looked more like a capacitor that was over there
and look at this motor i have not seen a variable
speed motor with a hookup like that that just means
to me it might be a little more difficult
little
troubleshoot
yeah some
of this i may
not understand
yes we do have
a fuse
but i am right
now not seeing a low voltage fuse
not anywhere the heat strips
actually fit back here you have
to take this out and pull it out the way
and you can install the heat strips that board somewhere
on it has dip switches that you have
to set uh change there they are at the bottom right there
Right down there and they are also upside down
But basically there
are no sensors on this
coil and all it needs
is a TXV a regular TXV
You can put any air handler on this condenser as long
as it has a TXV same thing with the case coil
Oh, it's just plain
service port.
These might
be like regular
pump down valves
This is gonna have to be flipped over
and I may do that in the coming days
and see if I can't see what kind
of valves we have yeah
those are just like
regular pump down valves
on a condenser I'll show you
and this looks large but
that is a three-quarter opening on that I
guess I don't see many three-quarter
flare caps.
Sorry if some of that video was poor quality
to installing more of those
getting to know them a little bit better systems like
that are just right up my
alley and whatnot it combines two things
that i'm really interested in HVAC and inverters
and converters i learned a lot of about those dealing
with RVs this is kind of mixing the two
i don't deal with many mini split type systems
i'm really looking forward to that one and
probably in the next couple days i'm gonna finish reading
the manual enjoy the video if y'all can
and tell me what the magnetic hole gets you
on the next one.
