NOAA Warns About A Possible Threat To Earth This Week!

James Kaufman, World News Report today. Ladies and gentlemen, Earth is very calm as far as solar plasma and solar winds currently. But that looks like it's going to change quickly. You may recall that NOAA warned us about two sunspot groups on the backside of the sun coming around the limb. Over to SOHO Magnetogram, you can see sunspot 4446 has come around the limb here. It's in the southern hemisphere of our star, and it is extremely large, although it has decayed since NOAA's initial warning. NOAA has come out and warned to expect strong solar activity this week. This is SOHO at 284 angstroms, and see that we have some coronal holes trying to form, and we also have that sunspot group here that's been named 4446. Don't forget, we have a second one falling in around the limb in just a few days. Taking a look at our GOES X-ray flux, we can see that we haven't really seen any activity whatsoever from our sun in seven plus days. Strongest thing we see here is an M2.6 solar flare that occurred on the 22nd. Sunspot 446, or sunspot group 446 has emerged over the sun's southeastern limb today and it looks very angry. This picture of the seething active region was taken late on May 24th and it's easy to see why NOAA may think this sunspot group has potential to produce trouble. Currently, the sunspot group has calmed a bit and is considered a simple beta class sunspot, But taking a look at this mess really tells the tale. The photo you are looking at was taken using an H-alpha filter tuned to the glow of red-hot hydrogen. It reveals a tormented starscape of dense fibrils and filamentary flows, all shaped by the magnetic field of the underlying sunspots within the group. Last week, the sunspot group was on the far side of the sun. It was larger then and very active. Between May 15th and May 17th, Europe's solar orbiter caught it emitting a series of X-class and M-class solar flares and associated coronal mass ejections, all directed away from Earth. Although the sunspot has decayed somewhat since then, it is still very large. And if appearances are any guide, the sunspot is still capable of significant activity. Noah says don't be surprised if there is a strong solar flare or several strong solar flares that are Earth-directed this week. Now remember, besides this behemoth, we have a second large sunspot group that's almost to the incoming limb, and it looks like it could be just as much trouble. So, eyes to the skies, the sun may have a present for Earth this week. You know, we will keep you posted if anything significant activity-wise does occur from either sunspot group. And here's HMI's view of 4446. and see how large it really is a lot of this looks unnamed the other sunspot or sunspot group won't really make it around the limb for a couple more days so we're only dealing with 4446 currently please remember that we could actually fit dozens of earths within this sunspot group area and it looks like it's probably going to become more complex i.e. beta gamma or perhaps even delta class so please show some love and give us a thumbs up and please share our video and remember anything is possible in bizarro world stay safe guys lots of love
