Pokemon cards are supposed
to be about collecting, trading, and having fun.
However, some people treat every card like an opportunity to scam.
But not every scammer escapes without consequences.
So these are the times when Pokemon card
scammers finally get what they deserve.
Starting us off with this grandma that was trying
to sell her $5,000 card to a pawn shop
to get some extra cash.
However, the owner had a different idea.
I'm doing pretty well.
Look, I've got this stuff.
Since after understanding that the grandma
knew nothing about the value of the card she
was selling, he decided to lowball her to an extreme extent.
However, what he was not expecting
was that everything was a setup made by her grandsons
to expose the devious acts of the shop owner.
know for sure if he's scamming
if it's anything under a grand I'm going wow
yeah that's crazy pretty good okay normally I'd you know
sell it or give me a 250 to make a little profit
but uh since then you know
I feel bad for your son god bless you
okay well I just I just remind me of my
mom okay well I'll give you a 345
for it oh my gosh that would be great 345
coming coming 345 oh my god three hundred forty five dollars wait she's
to sell it i'll have my son bring it okay we
are live outside this horrible mean pawn shop and they
just try to rob my grandma gentlemen how
are you doing you are live in front of a million people
say hello we just watched you scam this poor old woman out
of a five thousand dollar card trying to
scam an old lady is a really low thing to do but stealing from a vendor
and lying to the police
might be even worse. And that is exactly what
this next scammer decided to attempt. But she was
quickly caught on camera stealing $5,000 from a vendor's booth.
So there was only one thing that
she could do. She attempted to leave the scene,
but that was the exact moment when the cops showed
up. But when they
began searching
for the stolen cash,
they couldn't
find one single
dollar on her. Now just when she thought she would leave free
of charges, this happened.
Luckily, this scammer was caught and sent to jail where she belongs.
However, there are many more scammy thieves out there,
and these next two are trying to pull off a more familiar scam,
since at first, they look like a normal family shopping for some cards.
However, as it turns out, they did not intend to pay at all,
since while the father and boy browse at the table,
the camera catches them swapping some cards into their pockets.
Eventually, the seller notices the boy's actions and confronts him,
and while the father even acts disappointed by what happened,
the seller is not convinced at all,
and when he asks to see the man's pockets,
their entire scam falls apart.
I find it almost unbelievable that the scammer turned on his kid
just to pull off a part of the scam,
and this type of education clearly explains the next kid's
actions. He thought he could scam this vendor
by using his age to his favor, because at first,
he looks like just another innocent kid shopping around,
but when the vendor asks him a question,
he leaves immediately. What no one realized
was that this was all part of the kid's master scam,
as when he later returns to the table,
he immediately reaches out for the Garchomp
and tries to run away just like the first time.
However, someone nearby notices what
had happened and calls him back before he can disappear to the crowd.
Thank you. You've just saved me $300.
Where's that kid? Dude, he just ran off.
Now, this kid may have been caught,
but most kids aren't, and in the end,
they end up growing into the worst types of people of them all,
the scalpers. And when a
new Pokemon product drops,
you just know that the line will have at least one of these wild
creatures. And during the release of this new product,
this scammer could not wait for his
turn and decided to cut through the line.
However, the collectors who waited hours were
not going
to stay quiet.
and you just know that this guy will either reseal
or sell the box for way over the price
he paid for it but scammers like this are everywhere
and some even have their own vending
table just like this one that wasn't even bothered
to straight up lie to a kid just to get the best
deal possible for his card because
when this boy brings over his valuable Mewtwo GX the vendor
cannot contain himself and immediately calls it damaged
and you can tell by his face what his true
intentions were here what are you looking
for we're not really sure we're trying to see what
we have no idea what they're worth like conditions stuff like
that so he was told it's a nice card
here we are so first damage uh last damage
was 185 so what would you offer one of them
A condition check should protect a collector
and not become a magic trick where
a valuable card
suddenly turns damaged the second it reaches a scammer's hand.
But this was not the only time
that a scammer tried to take advantage of a kid.
This kid showed this vendor the binder that she
had just started. Noticing that she was new to collecting,
the vendor decided to give her some
advice and
immediately warned
her about the value
of her Meowth.
The girl then left to continue her trades
but when she came back, the vendor noticed
the meowth was missing and that something with the trade
was not right I love the Umbreon
is beautiful for it that is fantastic did you sell
the Meowth I traded it you traded it how
much did you get for it scratches dents I don't
know they just gave it to me for 30 pounds
I said okay so if this is like scratches
and stuff just make it 30 pounds and he just traded
me for that this is 32. who I think we should go back
and get your money back why don't we go over
and chat with them because that seems like it's
a bit too much understanding what had happened
the vendor immediately went to confront
the scammer hey mate just coming to check the card
that you traded for the Meowth it seems really unfair
on the trades can I take a look at the
Meowth to see on the conditioning of it it
was him he traded if you want to have a chat with him can
Can I take a look at the mouth that you traded with for it?
No.
For it, probably.
What did you price this at?
I priced that at £35.
There is no way this is £35.
It's a £90 card all day.
We have the chip on the top right.
It's going to be anywhere above that.
Are you pricing it at damaged?
Yeah, I'm pricing it at damaged.
That's not damaged.
It's not even...
We've got a chip on the top right there.
Yeah, that's not damaged at all.
It would get a PSA 8 or PSA 9.
All day it would get a PSA 8 or PSA 9. There's nowhere
near...
I don't think that's going to get that high.
You're telling me that is damaged?
Can I have my microscope, please? If you've got it.
So I've got the damage up there.
That's not damaged.
That's damaged, man. That's the chip right on the card.
That is not damaged.
Let me take a look here, because that is just... I think you should
trade back for it that that is an absolute
ridiculous i would recommend trade it that's
a 21 pound card for it right honestly
that is the biggest load of crap i've ever heard
no no problem i would rather give you some cash for it
and spend the cash and i'll pay you high
on it because that's a rubbish experience you want it let's go back
to my table honestly that
is the biggest baloney i've ever heard in the end
the vendor decided to buy the card from the girl
to ensure that no one would scam her on it again
but as it turns out this wasn't the first time
that the scammer had fooled a kid on the show
that day she came back late i'm really excited
she's like look what i've got show me
a 20 pound umbreon card that a vendor had traded her for the
meowth that's the second story i've heard of a vendor scamming kids
so uh i went to the vendor
and got the card back who was the vendor some guy
around there i didn't catch his uh cat i'm gonna
go do a walk in a bit and take a look
so i know his dog on his back on his shirt i'm not too
sure he had a big he had a beard he had
a big beard ginger beard yeah he kind of yeah kind of
ginger maybe same he tried to tell a couple
of kids like usually my regulars that uh their
Charizard GX from Burning Shadows 300 pound card is worth 30 quid
which one is it can we check if
People like this just ruin the hobby
for everyone, and the next scammer
is not any different.
Just like this next guy that was trying
to steal some cards from this vendor's binder
while he was distracted by another customer.
But what the thief didn't expect
was for that same customer to tip off the vendor of what
he was doing.
and what happened
next was a really
long and awkward
stare down as the
thief kept flipping
through the binders pages
and was forced to buy some of the cards before security was called to
the area oh what the dude that guy tried to steal cards
from us wait what that guy across from us
with the backpack on tried to steal cards
from us i literally tapped him on his chest as he was
trying to pocket them and took them out of his hand.
He paid full value on everything else and
I just stared him down while he sat at our table.
But his whole family's with him. I was going to
tell the organizer. But sometimes things get
so out of hand that security is not enough and the
police need to be called instead.
And it all happened because this guy decided it was a good
idea to scalp from a Pokemon vending machine in the middle of the day.
And not only did he reach
the limits for his purchases,
he also kept restarting the machine to keep buying regardless
of the store manager telling him to stop.
Things got so bad that the police ended up being called.
However,
there was
nothing
that they
could
do as the purchases were already made.
But to be honest, it doesn't even look like they understood
that he was carrying away thousands of dollars worth of scalping.
Although they told him to find
a solution with the store, to this day,
we have no idea on how this situation ended. But what
happens when neither the staff
or the police are called as these scammers are doing their dirty
work? In that case, only the honest collectors
are left to stop their evil doings. Just like
this next guy that did his best to stop
the scalper from continuing to buy more product
from the machine, but the confrontation quickly became physical.
get away from me you're putting your hands
on me look get away from me brother
oh you already got some bruh let
me go i'm alive you already got
get away from me you already got
it is insane to see the extent which some people will go
to scam innocent collectors luckily there
will always be honest people going to the same extent
to make things right and one of those
people is Rattle Pokemon upon hearing
that a customer on whatnot had been scammed by the
seller on a Froslass ex he knew that he had to confront the scammer
so he hopped in the live
stream ready for a confrontation the scammer
however decided to play dumb instead proceed
to ask him what's the explanation for the cancelled order
and he has a nice little response here so UPS
didn't scan it in so i gave you that refund
but your order is still on the way i guess he's under
the impression that i'm the one that he scammed he's saying
that uh i got a refund and that he's
also going to ship the card it's coming anyway
right surely it's gonna arrive i had to cancel
on my end because it would f with my stuff
but it's on the way it there wasn't a scan so i gave
you that refund so it doesn't f with my order
but your your stuff is on the way surely he has an
explanation for why he blocked them
so i'm gonna ask just that and we're gonna get a response i
blocked him i didn't mean to block them i can i'll
unblock them right now i didn't mean to all of a
sudden he remembers the name of the woman that he scammed
but nymph stuff is on the way i just had
to cancel it because ups wasn't didn't scan it
in and it was uh giving me alerts so i just went
ahead and refunded it here he's going to confirm
that it's it's on the way surely it is right but
your card is on the way, rest assured it is on the way, it's on the way
and although by the end
he remembered the victim's name
and made sure that he would make things right the truth of the matter
is that at the end of the day this was just
a bunch of lies, oh he still didn't make it right
we got Nip who says guaranteed that's
not right, i trusted him more too because he looked like a
chill guy in his reviews too, still blocked
but we'll see, and then we got an update this morning
just finished band practice, he still didn't, he lied i think it's
but it's okay, i'm just glad he
admitted it, have a good night, thank you again
so moral of the story, don't trust slimy rip and
shippers please and thank you, now these scams have been insane
so far but what we have left are the
top four and these ones are so crazy
that you might genuinely not believe it, just like this
next scammer that got stopped by the police after he
was seen stealing cards from different vendors
a police officer moves in and pulls him away from the table
however, no scammer like this
goes down without a fight
and the situation escalates as he resists and the officers take
control. Going to jail
for resisting authority over
some Pokemon cards is insane.
But what may
be crazier are these new scams with slabs
that have been getting more and more current. And
although the scammers could not be found and confronted,
I just had to include this scam in
the list. Because this whole interaction may just look like
a normal deal, since this vendor
confirmed the card price on eBay before we finished the sale.
However, there was a small
detail that he didn't notice until it was too late
as it turns out that the last sales of this
cards were fake sales that ended up never being completed
as scammers have been selling cards to
each other in order to confuse collectors
into thinking that the card's value had skyrocketed
so they can sell them for way above market price, he brought me
this card and at the time it was
worth about 4200, we decided on 550 cash
and the gray felt hat Pikachu so basically coming to a
trade value of around $3,500 for this card,
which is fairly reasonable for both of us considering
it was just selling for $4,200.
So, you know, it's towards that higher amount, but also gives
me a little bit of room if it comes back down to,
you know, around the $3,500, $3,600 mark,
just because I had bought the Van Gogh for $2,500.
Now, a couple weeks later, I still have this slab
and I go ahead and scan it and I see comps for around $2,000,
about $2,200 just two weeks later,
which is astounding, right? A 50% cut.
That's totally out of the ordinary. So I go back and
look at the sales that happened during that week
and they were marked as uncompleted. They were
marked as fraudulent or some error occurred
for a dozen different sales all over that four thousand
dollar mark and so here's the scam basically
that you need to look out for is people are selling
cards to themselves and their friends on eBay to show up as real sales
but never fulfill them
and they leave unpaid be very careful buying
with these types of scams out there now let's get into
the final two confrontations.
First, we have this couple that looked way too suspicious when they
entered the Pokemon Zone in Walmart.
So suspicious, in fact, that the police were called to the area,
and they didn't take long to apprehend
the suspects that decided to resist them.
cards in her purse. That's why. You know that.
We know that. Let's not act dumb. Let's not be
defensive or dumb. We know why we're getting called here.
It's not a thing. What is that?
Yeah, that right there. I don't know.
I'm going to go in there and grab it for you. Is that okay
with you? Do you mind if I go in there and grab it?
No. How about this? We're going to go ahead
and grab it, okay? Is it going to poke, stick, or cut us or anything?
No. Don't stop pulling your
Later,
when
they
searched
for the
cards,
they
They ended up finding all that they were looking
for and the couple was sent to jail.
But somehow this does not compare to our number one spot
because this may have been the most
extreme Pokemon card theft in the world
as this guy decided to break into a Pokemon shop
by breaking the glass with a chainsaw.
After crawling inside and taking boxes
and sleeved cards reportedly worth about $12,000,
investigators followed the trail of the scammer to his parent's house.
quickly apprehend the suspect in front of them
and interrogate the entire family to find the
whereabouts of the cards like i said i'm detective Rimmer
with the sheriff's office okay i'm
investigating a burglary to a business
um in which clayton broke into a business this morning at 3
a.m okay that's my son um he used a chainsaw
to cut through a hurricane proof window using the
jeep that you own to get there and from and he stole
a bunch of pokemon cards oh so oh my god
um we do have a search warrant
for the house he cut himself up badly going through the window
so we have a search warrant for his dna as well show him this picture
and he apparently at three
o'clock this morning went and robbed
and stole pokemon cards so what we'll do just to make
everything easy. Um, if you guys want to go,
I went in his closet today and I saw the step ladder
in his closet and I'll show you that.
And I noticed, I'm like, where's the suitcase? So then
I had asked Clayton, uh,
cause I got up like at four 30 in the morning and I couldn't sleep. And
Clayton came out and I was like, well, uh, you can't sleep.
And he goes, no, I can't sleep.
but i asked him about the suitcase
and he said oh yeah i was trying to see if i'm thinking about
going up to to sarah's wedding and i got it out here
and he had the suitcase here mr clayton how
are you so it's very stupid yeah it
was i would like a lawyer
but i i would like to to explain
and talk i can give you all
the property back okay what possessed you i don't know
i'll show you where it is okay come
on he showed us where everything is he hid a lot of it in his
fish room all of the pokemon cards um and then he had
a bag that was stuffed in his closet with
all of the bloody clothes
and the bags that he used to take everything so a scam so bold and
stupid may go down in history as the craziest way
a scammer got what he deserved. Check out
this video on screen next to see even crazier Pokemon card moments.
Trust me, these are insane.
