Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe technician investigates a malfunctioning compressor after previously replacing the blower motor. Through a series of electrical tests, including megohmmeter and ohmmeter readings, the technician evaluates the compressor's windings and insulation to determine if the unit is grounded or failed.
Guys, if you remember, we are back out on this one.
I recently had to change the blower motor,
but the compressor sounded terrible.
I'm going to try to leave you a link up here.
I hope it's not the compressor.
Right now, it's not running.
So, let's get to it.
Oh, it is not what I wanted to see.
Alright,
3.9
mega
ohms.
there is a popular mega
that is sold
that um if it's 10 lit
10 mega ohms or less
it marks it as bad
and that one's made by Supco
and if i'm reading 3.9 with that meter right
there
that's
not
good
it's
like
we're
coming
start
and
run
i
swear
i
wish
they'd
make
that
where we could
see those
right now i'm
reading like
12 mega ohms i'm
in the ground
i'm getting
12 mega
ohms all
right
let's ohm
out the
windings
all right
it looked
it looked
like
i was
touching
both leads i was actually only touching one of them
on the other one i'd use my finger like this
to get it in place and then i would move it off the off the lead
so i was only touching one of
them so i got 1.5 about 1.5 and then three i got
1.5 to start 1.5 to run common to run and then
run to start i
was getting close
to three so that
seemed to ohm out
fine right with
the compressor
disconnected my mega ohms to ground has gone away i'm actually going
to plug it back up put it back
together find my breaker and see
if this will run before we turn it
on i got this clamped on common
on the compressor and um i've got
it turned off right there i'll
tell you what let's um oops i'm
going to go ahead and check
that capacitor while i'm
while i've got it pulled loose
or while i've
got this excuse me while i've got power disconnected
all right that's reading 60 micro farads you see
that wire
right there
looks
a little
burnt that's
not good
let's
replace
that i'm also
going to
move
this to
right
here put
this on
amps
inrush
and see
what
happens
169 and i
heard it
buzzing
a little bit
in that
disconnect
nothing looks
a mess in here
because
this thing
is not oming out
in a way that would definitely make me think it's
the compressor i'm gonna disconnect the compressor
and
uh
see
if
everything
else
runs
put
power
to it
and
see
what
happens
comes
on
check
and
make sure that these wires go through a plastic grommet
and they do i didn't see anywhere inside
where they were rubbing either thanks
