You're not going to believe what I turned
this cardboard box and Ziploc bag into.
First I made my design using Canva.
You can choose any theme or holiday you want.
I printed it and then grabbed a Ziploc bag and I cut it in half.
I used the side of the Ziploc bag without the label
and I taped it on top of the printed design.
I traced it with a black sharpie.
You definitely don't need to worry about the details here.
The goal is just to get the basic shape of each part of the design.
after i finished tracing it i removed the paper from underneath
and i cut a rectangle out of a
cardboard box just slightly bigger than the design i used clear tape
and i attached the
Ziploc bag design to the cardboard box you want to mirror image it
so just make sure to flip the
design when you tape it onto the box i grabbed some craft paper
and cut it to length and taped
it to the wall in a dark room it has to be a room with no windows
or at least very little light
next i placed a cell phone inside
the box i have tried all different lights but a cell
phone flashlight works the best i moved the cardboard box further
or closer to the wall
to get the image the right size
and then i traced it onto the paper this is how it looks after the
design is traced it's not about the detail it's about getting
the layout and the sizing and the
spacing correct for everything
and then you can fill in the details later if you get the scale
right on stuff i find you can just make it look good
with little changes after but getting that
scale right is so important before painting
the center part i went over the writing with a black
sharpie and then i painted over it once it
was dry i placed it against the window and then i
could see the sharpie underneath to repaint
that text part this little trick actually worked really
well i used acrylic paint
and acrylic paint pens to color the design some colors require multiple
coats. And that's how I used a cardboard box
and a Ziploc bag to create a DIY projector and make a
Gilmore Girls themed birthday banner for my daughter.
I think she's gonna love it. What do
you think? I hope this inspires you
to get creative with your own paper banner.
