Answer: Greensand is amazing if you can get it

The Big Island of Hawai'i has green sand beaches and plenty of black sand
beaches - it's so much softer than most sand
Response: Word of caution with softer sands ... they may not grip plants as readily as more gritty ones.

What is a sump?
What is the perfect sump? A: It depends
Does the sump size matter? A: Yes, you have to size it accordingly for the pump you select. It will either be too powerful or not powerful enough.
The water can overflow, or drain out too fast.
Can algae spread to your sump? Yes, and vice versa.

'perfect sump is 4 baffels.....plants in one, floating plants in
another, and then a mesh of rocks or volcanic stone like pumice .... then finally a
settling chamber or zig zag for fine particulates'
