You know, I was sitting here prepping some sort of video
because we're talking a lot about Brian Thomas
and we're talking a lot about Ashton Gentry.
Now, actually, maybe he's having a better season than people think
in the offensive line, blah, blah, blah.
And I was like, do I have enough here
to talk to you about to make a full video?
Because, yeah, I can come on here and yap again about Brian Thomas
or Ashton Gentry for 10 minutes
and then pretend that was enough to give you a video.
But I want to really have something to talk about,
to actually press record and to give
you guys something that's valuable.
and as I was sitting here thinking,
is there enough to talk about, boom, Puka Nacua injured.
I've got takes about this in particular.
A take obviously is, what's the word I'm looking for,
it is contingent on the idea that Puka might not play in this game,
because if Puka doesn't play
in this game, there are zero excuses for the Las Vegas Raiders.
I do not care, this is a must-win
game. The Raiders are on a three game losing streak,
but it's the weirdest three game losing
streak I've ever seen because with each loss,
I guess, except for the Patriots loss, my confidence
seems to be growing in their ability to compete
with the best of the best, even though they keep
losing the games. I mean,
they lost to the Chiefs and the Bills by a combined six points. And the
fact that it's still sitting at a 66% chance
for the Rams to win this game on Kalshi is wild to me
i think there is some extreme value in purchasing
the yes contract for the Raiders if you put 25 on
that if the Raiders win outright it's 70 payout 26
cents obviously you have different point spreads
here you can go down to if you're more comfortable
with that anytime touchdown first TD I like the
Raiders in this game Devontae Adams is out six
to ten weeks we're scoring 30 points per game and we
can't even run the football yet imagine what we're going
to be able to look like when we start
playing up to our full potential now if you
are interested in checking out Kalshi you can use
code all aboard to instantly get 25 when you trade 25
and the reason why Kalshi is so unique and
different and why i prefer it over your traditional sports book
is because unlike your traditional
sports book where you're betting against the house
on Kalshi you are trading purchasing yes or no
contracts with the market that's set with peer-to-peer trading
and you can trade on anything
you want sports media movies politics you name it
Kalshi has it okay there are moments maybe besides
last year in every Raiders season that we point
to the ones that come to mind are a handful of
years ago we beat Lamar Jackson in Baltimore
our home opener against the Bryce Youngless
Panthers because he was benched for Andy Dalton
if we win this game we're two and one we can go
on a little run here, we get blown out.
Last year, we were 1-1 going into Washington, D.C.
to play a backup quarterback in Marcus Mariota.
We get blown out. Tyson Bagent beating Josh
McDaniels. There are so many moments where
the Raiders have a chance to rewrite a narrative,
the Raiders have a chance to prove themselves,
and it's a game where things have lined up for
them to be able to win a game
that people think maybe they shouldn't win and then they don't do
it they fall flat on their face they don't get
the job done we started out three and oh we've
dropped three straight besides the Patriots game
which right now feels like a bit of an outlier
we were very close with the Chiefs game very close with the Bills game
and very close is awesome and
it steps in the right direction and yada yada yada
but you need to learn how to finish games
and you need to learn how to compete in games
and steal games that you shouldn't win people said I
was crazy before the season started to predict
that we could beat the Rams, because I thought
the Rams had an older roster than people were talking about,
and now, what is it, the roost
is coming to rule, what is it, what's the thing,
you know the thing, Devontae's out,
Miles Garrett's out, Puna Ford's out,
they have some other injuries they're dealing with,
and now Puka Nakua leaves practice early due to a calf injury,
we know he wasn't healthy
coming into the season, it took him a little bit
to get going, now he is healthy, now
he's not healthy. Kyron Williams is complaining about
not getting the ball enough. Matthew
Stafford is having his worst year as a Ram.
He's a statue. We're top half of the league in getting
pressure. We're not great against the run,
but we can stack the box because they don't have any
receivers. And this is that classic game where
the Raiders go into it with a chance to win,
and they've got all the injuries
that they're dealing with, they being the opponent,
And Sean McVay gets out of his slump
Because he plays the lowly Raiders
It happens time and time again
I'm sure in the comments
You guys can list
A bunch of other examples of games like this
Like the Commanders game
Like the Bears game
Like the Panthers game
That have absolutely destroyed
Our season and our spirits
I don't want to be
Competitive in this game and lose
I thought maybe we could beat the Chiefs
Who knows what happens if Darien Young doesn't fumble the football.
I thought we could be competitive with the Bills,
but probably fall a little bit short.
I fully think we can,
and I fully expect the Raiders to beat the Los Angeles Rams.
I thought that would be the case with Puka Nakua on the field.
Now that he's not on the field, Clint Kubiak and company have to show,
like they did in the first three weeks,
that they are capable of beating a team that they
are equal to or better than at this current moment.
because without Puka Nakua, the Rams have nothing.
They have Kyron Williams and Matthew Stafford,
and Matthew Stafford has not been playing well,
save for one game against a Buffalo defense
that everybody goes off against,
with Devontae and Puka there.
Now with both of them gone, how can you convince me
that we should not win this football game in Las Vegas
with the Jets coming up before a little bit of a gauntlet?
You have a chance to grab hold of this season
and have people talk about you in a playoff sense.
You win this game, you win the next.
You're 5-3.
Mendoza is still a distant afterthought.
Kirk Cousins still leading the league in touchdowns.
Maybe you make a trade at the trade deadline.
We get Ashton Gentry going.
We're going to talk about Ashton Gentry a little bit here
because there is a stat that's pretty crazy about Ashton's year
because it feels like he's having such a bad year.
He's actually having, and we'll get into it.
But I stand by my prediction that we should win this game.
And now with the idea that Puka is out,
there's just no excuses there's just
no excuses they gotta find a way to protect the football
and win this football game now the Brian Thomas thing
is very interesting because now Bill Barnwell
who if Barnwell says something it really gets caught up
in the NFL media cycle writes articles
all the time potential trades and roster stuff
and he's respected by a lot of people uh it's on
Yahoo Sports story by heavy Raiders urge
to finalize Brian Thomas Jr trade as Jaguars tension
peaks. Liam Cohen
didn't bother sugarcoating reality about
Brian Thomas Jr. after the 34-31
loss to Houston. His cold post-game
remarks,
that guy simply have to step up and make plays
served in the media, but bat signal across
the league. ESPN's Bill Barnwell expects the Raiders
to ride that wave to the
phone lines. The most obvious
candidate for a Thomas trade, though, would be the
Las Vegas Raiders. Offseason
addition to Jalen Naylor signed a three-year
$35 million extension. He had six catches in five
games. Bowers is brilliant, and Michael Mayer has been a
viable inline tight end but head coach Clint Kubiak needs
a receiver who can both stretch
the defense and run a full route tree Barnwell sees
the Raiders taking at least or the Jaguars
taking at least 2027 second round pick
for the Thomas Jr. trade the real question is can the
Raiders pay up the Raiders playoff chances are sub 10 percent per FPI
and barring a significant
winning streak they're not really in a place
to add short-term options for 2026 Thomas would be
more of a long-term addition he's owed 3.5 million combined over
the next two years and have a 50
year option available yeah we got him
a long time here thomas would be making number three receiver
money for the raiders with upside the potential lead option
and yeah so if you want to just see
it here ESPN's Bill Barnwell's trade proposal
raiders get Brian Thomas Jr jaguars get a 2027
second round pick what are your thoughts what
are your thoughts i don't hate it again if it's an
effort thing don't love that don't love that if it's
a scheme thing i think there's a real chance
that brian thomas jr is better than a receiver
that you get in the second round i will say this
if they want brian thomas jr they being
the Raiders if we want brian thomas jr on the team
he can he'll be on the team if they don't trade
for him assuming that Jacksonville's not asking for
something crazy like a first they're not going
to get a first from everybody anyway if they don't
trade for him to me that signals that they're going
to draft the receiver in the first round
because they're not going to trade for one
in the offseason their first round pick is too valuable
we don't know we're going to be drafting
and there's not going to be any huge free agents
on the market maybe for George Pickens
but George Pickens doesn't feel like a spy tech guy
we could have had Marvin Harrison
if we really wanted him we could have had we could have Brian
Thomas Jr. if we really want him now does
the emergence of Trey Tucker here wrinkle any of
these plans. Maybe, or maybe they think it'd
be the perfect possession receiver to match up with
someone like a Trey Tucker.
I do think the success that they're having with the two tight ends
and Trey and Ashton receiving are maybe causing them
to be a little bit hesitant in terms of
going out and using draft capital
because Spytek really hit with his second round draft pick and
trade in Stukes. And I do think they believe in Jack Besh.
Jack Besh was starting to have a
little bit of a better year
and then of course broke his uh forearm is there any update on how
long an injury like that takes
for someone like Jack Besh okay i'm reading blah blah blah jack
Besh heads to the IR was it short term
or is it out just indefinitely Jack Besh blah blah yeah i
don't know how long he's gonna be out i don't know
if he can come back this season broken forearm
broken
I'm looking up the injury timeline here
broken forearm recovery
time NFL
this is the AI thing grain of salt
recovery time for a broken forearm is 6 to 8 weeks
for a standard return to action
though severe surgical cases
3 to 6 months
hey so best case scenario
I mean he broke it in what week 3
yeah that's going to be the end of the season
if he comes back at all
so look if they trade for somebody
that means they think they need one badly
and they can't do any better than
the draft next year for a free agency.
But if they don't, I don't know.
I don't know.
Only time will tell.
Look at this stat here.
It's just hard to believe, but it's interesting.
Let me zoom in.
Running backs with 300-plus rushing yards and 200-plus receiving yards.
Kyron Williams, Jameer Gibbs, Jalen Warren, Ashton Gentry.
I believe Gentry is, where did I see it?
I think he was 19th in yards for running backs or something like that,
and second yards receiving back.
Look, Ashton Gentry, he has a lot of stacked boxes,
and he's not seeing some of the lanes.
Mike Washington has looked better in limited time.
But where he is making up for it,
I'm not just talking fantasy football,
but just in general as an impact player,
is in the pass game.
Now, you don't want to draft Darren Sproles sixth overall.
it's just so frustrating because it seems like like I was shocked
when it said he had 10 carries
for 22 yards it felt like he ran better in that game
and he does make an impact passing the football
and this stat is you know it's good company
to have Jalen Warren's having a very good year this
year it's just like if he you know what he's missing
is the home run he seems like throughout
the game he has these good runs in these good moments
and he's breaking tackles and he's very
impactful as a receiver which again was supposed
to be his knock in college but he's just missing
that home run in games where he went off last year against
the Texans against the Bears he had
those boom home runs gone 60 yards gone
and right now we're not springing them and that's the
difference between somebody like a him
and a Kenneth Walker's Kenneth Walker's hitting these
home runs Jameer Gibbs
and Brian Robinson Bijan Robinson are hitting these home runs that he's
just not hitting and that's the difference they got
to find a way to have him be in a position
to hit home runs again no more uses for him
but this this did put in a little bit of a perspective
of uh you know exactly what Ashton Gentry
is doing this season he is an impactful player
no doubt about it it's just
when you're drafted sixth overall you expect more than 10 for 22 and
i know some people think he's injured
and you know maybe maybe he is injured maybe he's like
he can't walk and it's a miracle that he's even playing football
but like i said for the longest
time and for right now for the time being
if you're on the field i'm gonna operate like you
should be a top 10 pick and i just haven't seen that yet
but here's what we're gonna end with
for a little bit more of a perspective here it's uh shut up
and uh baldy talking about the
perspective of the raiders
so far this year i'm gonna work five to one uh biggest additions i'm
start first of all i'm gonna go
to coach we'll go clint kubiak as the fifth biggest addition
from what we've seen so far in the league let's go
to 2025 raiders this is a team that was 3 and 14
they averaged 14.2 points a game dead last
in the league through six weeks they've already
matched their win total they're three
and three they're averaging 27 points a game six in the
league they've almost doubled
their offensive output kirk cousins comes in there he deserves
some credit for that but i got to give clint kubiak uh
a nod here for being a massive addition
not just for this team but this organization
and laying the foundation for eventually fernando
mendoza yeah i agree and so just to put something
into perspective there and also to say this
everybody said and maybe i've said this at a certain point
but i've now realized that it's
it's a little bit skewed the most important thing about
this season is what figuring out what
fernando mendoza is he the guy is he the guy get him
on the field blah blah blah that was not the
most important thing. The most important thing
was making sure we had a guy at the head coaching
position in Clint Kubiak.
Because if Mendoza is all that, but we don't have the guy at the head
coaching spot, that could
be the difference between Caleb Williams' rookie year and Caleb
Williams now. That could
be the difference between Trevor Lawrence now and Trevor Lawrence
his first few years in the season.
Mendoza could be awesome. And if Clint Kubiak stinks,
then we stink. But I feel like I'm pretty confident
in saying we know we got a guy in
Clint Kubiak. And what DJ just
said there, kind of proves that.
So, there's a little food for
thought. If Puka doesn't play, we gotta win
this game. Like, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.
And I think we will. I'm confident. I believe in
Clint Kubiak. And if we don't, we're gonna have a separate
discussion. Hit that like button, comment

I love you guys.
