Britt McHenry's Friend Responds To Viral Wizards Game Video

All right, what's going on, everyone? It's Andrew. Yeah, let's talk about what happened at the Wizards game Wednesday night. So as a lot of you guys have seen, that's me. I'm the guy in the Caron Butler jersey in the TMZ video with Britt McHenry. And before I even talk about what actually happened and led to everything that's now gone viral, I want to get two things clear off the top. Number one, I'm not dating Britt. Britt is not my girlfriend. There's no romantic history there at all. Britt and I are just friends. We met at a U.S. Open watch party like two or three years ago in New York. We both went to the same journalism school. She used to work in sports media. We're both big D.C. sports fans. That's it. And I say all that to explain that I've known Britt long before she ever took a job in the administration. And I say that to say that point number two guys I'm not MAGA okay I of course understand the assumption people are making here and why people would make the jump to like seeing me involved in this situation to then assuming my political beliefs but guys I'm not MAGA point blank okay now what actually happened was and I encourage everyone to go read the actual TMZ article because I think it does a really good job of explaining the context beyond just the headline beyond just the videos of what happened but it was just one big miscommunication one big misunderstanding we're in our section there are some rowdy fans around us you know one person says one thing Britt responds it just takes off from there um and then at people you know misogynistic things are being said one it's just not good okay it was it was an unfortunate situation and that's why drinks were thrown you know by by by Britt and us it was just bad okay and I wish I handled things differently myself I'm not here to speak for Britt or speak for her perspective but yeah I wish I did things differently but as you can see in the videos I was trying to just broker the piece I was trying to talk to Britt I was trying to talk to the other fans trying to talk to the stadium ushers um because i never wanted to see it get to that point and i feel really bad for anyone who's affected who was affected by this at the game who's been affected by this online uh it was just a really unfortunate situation and basically even to the point where like one of the other guys in the section got kicked out of the game okay and then i went to uh stadium security and tried to ask them to bring him back i told his friends who were pissed rightfully so like hey if i can vouch for your friend to bring him back like please let me because I don't want to see anyone get kicked out of the game for this it was like the Wizards home opener you know this was I wanted everyone to have a good time um but yeah Britt ended up leaving I ended up going to another section to watch the rest of the game and that was and that's it um so yeah I like that I hope that sort of provide some more context i you know i felt like i owed you guys an explanation um again i wish i handled some things differently but all in all like here we are i did not expect to be when i decided to fly to DC to go support my favorite basketball team i did not expect to end up on the front page of TMZ viral on Twitter for this whole situation but um yeah wanted to clear some things up hope that did a good job uh so that's about it thanks guys go Wizards
