King County, WA, ballots found in dumpster

Well, we're continuing to follow the story of stolen ballots in Seattle. and Fox 13's Sam Campbell is live at Golden Gardens. Sam, this is where they were found, in a dumpster? What's the detail here? Well, that's right. King County Elections tells us that someone had dumped two bins of undelivered mail in one of the dumpsters here at Golden Gardens Park, and that included batches of ballots. Now, these ballots had not yet been filled out because they had not yet been delivered. That's according to the elections office, and they were among other unrelated pieces of mail, too. King County elections staff are working with the U.S. Postal Service and Postal Services inspectors to track down exactly how this happened. At the moment, they say it looks like a case of mail theft, where the primary target may have been checks, money, and identity documents. during basically all times of the day there's quite a bit of people here so I don't know why you choose a oh I guess they would choose this park because you can't like pin it on a certain person really unless there's video footage of them doing it probably put some cameras in here then now further details are limited on this incident right now but the U.S. Postal Service tells us it's actively reviewing the case if you find ballots somewhere election officials ask you to photograph each envelope and share those over email with elections at kingcounty.gov. That can help the office both reissue ballots to impacted voters and report that incident to USPS with as much detail as possible. Now, all of the ballots found here have since been reissued, but if you live in King County and you've not yet received a ballot, you can give them a call at 206-296-8683. You can also find more options online at kingcounty.gov by searching replacement ballot. We've reached out to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service for more information on this specific case, but we're going to continue to follow it, and we'll bring you the latest information as soon as we have it. For now, live at Golden Gardens, Sam Campbell, Fox 13 News.
