We’re reforesting an active volcano

#volcano #reforestation #ecosystemrestoration
High up on Mexico’s Pico de Orizaba, the country’s highest mountain and North America’s highest active volcano, lies a strange and magical forest ecosystem.

What happens up here affects millions of people in the valley below. The forest helps keep the soil in place and feeds rivers that local communities depend on.

But decades of logging have wiped out more than 80% of the forest. putting this ecosystem and everyone that depends on it at risk.

So, together with Planet Wild, the Arbor Day Foundation and local partners, we’re helping bring this forest back 🌳
