Apocalyptic. That's how one homeowner described Wednesday's storm
when it hit the North Valley
and the day after means it's time to clean up and start repairs.
But that is easier said than done
when you don't know exactly where to even begin.
Fox 10's Brian Webb is live near 23rd Avenue in
Cactus. That is one of the hardest hit areas across the valley.
Brian. Yeah, a little bit
like a scattered type war zone around here.
Not every home was hit, but in some spots it is pretty
bad, especially if you're staring down
a large tree that fell in your front yard
or getting ready to pay a large repair bill and you're not quite
sure who you can trust. This North Phoenix neighborhood had a
bullseye on its back and Jennifer Ball
is left picking up the pieces on her
property from broken windows to hail damage to her car and
trailer. Crazy. I don't know what to do
about the damage or where to start. This is what the storm
looked like Wednesday afternoon
when the storm was bearing down on Jennifer's backyard check out
the golf ball sized hail left behind pounding anything
in its path i've lived in Arizona my
entire life and have never experienced a storm like
this the entire area got hit by Mother Nature's
fury limbs and leaves scattered everywhere trees pulled out
by the roots and a large cactus tumbled
onto the ground. Robert lives across the street
and has damage to his roof and his car. Called
the insurance adjuster while it was still hailing and it was,
you know, I knew that there's damage.
The windshield's been broken.
The car's, he thinks it's totaled. So we'll see what he says.
Roofing repair companies rushed to the scene surveying
the damage and ready to help like
John on Robert's roof. The minute you can make a claim
or even call to your insurance company,
it makes a ding on your insurance and then your insurance goes up.
So sometimes it's better to
actually have something that you can say, well, my roofer looked at it.
And that's the other thing
a storm leaves behind beyond the big mess, lots of confusion.
Just ask Jennifer. I work paycheck
to paycheck.
Finding the money for another deductible
is very tough and hard. Some of the
Homeowners like Jennifer have set up
creative ways to pay for this mess,
like GoFundMe accounts,
at least to maybe make a dent in the insurance deductible.
